  1. Well, I'm surprised for your words, to say the least. I'm using nx since 2011. I have several nx bodies, almost all nx lenses. I really like nx, more than canon, Nikon, sony and even pentax. Having different ideas is not bad, unless you are a dictator. And this is a free place. If my posts annoy you, you can ignore them. I think the idea you have for this adapter doesn't fit MY NEEDS. It could work for others. I can well underline the weaknesses of a project, as well as the good parts. I guess that ttbak has similar needs as mine, we'll see what he thinks about your idea. Could you tell me one positive side of your approach, compared to a d5500+one of those lenses? I see only negative sides, apart for the technical "game".
  2. Well, if I want the adapter, that's for using lenses like these ones: Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 SIGMA EX 100-300MM F4 SIGMA EX 120-400MM OS F/4.5-5.6 So if no metabones alike adapter comes for NX, I'll eventually buy a canon/nikon/sony body (under 5/600€) and one of these lenses. That said, I tested the metabones (for still shooting, that's the use I need most and for sure I'd need with those lenses) and I was really impressed. It was at least as fast as a 6D, but I'd say faster. And this was on an old A6000. For the price, again (and for the last time): I'm not saying that 400/500 is too much for the adapter. I'm saying that if it costs more than that, to me it's more clever to buy a second body, especially when the adapter does not fit my needs and adds a lot of bulk and difficulty of use to the camera (slow AF, external aperture control, external power source...). I hope you understand my points, I'm really a fan of your efforts and I'll eagerly follow them as a spectator.
  3. While I recognize this being a tramendous and awesome work of creativity and technical skill, that's too far from what I'd want/need. As already said, my ideal item would be a metabones "clone" for NX. No more, no less. Besides, this product would rely on the slowest AF lens for NX (in my personal experience) and require additional external hw to operate aperture and OIS, which in my personal book is a no-go (again, for my personal needs). Last but not least, the total cost to have a fully working item (I mean with AF, aperture and OIS) would be much greater than buying a Nikon D5500. Possibly even greater than a Nikon 7200, and the added bulk to NX1 would make it match the size/weight of these DSLR cameras.
  4. Of course I totally agree with you. A company like metabones can not only "capitalize" on its past experience, but also on the low cost of manufacturing in their country and the existing (or potential) users base for their products. But, again, the 10k should more or less fill this gap and set you in a competitive position (hence the price figures I gave), especially considering that you are talented and are (this is very crucial) a NX fan. Let's face it: I think that nobody else could start such a project, since you would ever earn from it
  5. Luca, I was referring to the 10k "sponsorship". And the list is to be seen as something to aim to, for an optimal goal. If ttbek is ready to send you 10k for developing an intelligent adapter, I think it should be a state-of-the-art adapter. At least in the intentions (then, if the design goals are impossible, you'll be able to restate those points, explaining which of those and why are not achievable). As to the final cost, always keeping into account that the development costs would be pretty much covered by the 10k, and also considering that: - the metabones EF to E costs 399$ and has pretty much everything I described, and it has to reward the development costs - a nikon body basically able to do what I'd need from the adapter costs about 500$ and is a whole camera (D5500) I'd be willing to pay among 350 and 500 for the adapter (I'm referring to an adapter with no optics inside). More than that, and I'd prefer a second camera body to devote to telephoto shooting.
  6. I totally agree, Kisaha, I didn't mean to undercut Luca's awesome work. He is actually a great fan and supporter of NX system and with his speedbooster he gave new life to NX1 for those not needing AF. It's actually because I trust his work, that I made that "bulleted list". I'm sure he can accomplish most of those points. The size, TO ME, is a big plus. I actually went mirrorless for the size in the first place. Now, if you tell me that the size of metabones is impossible to achieve, I could buy the adapter anyway, if it does all the rest, but it hasn't to be too big (the Canon that you mention is actually on the big side, IMO). As to ttbek, I also think he should set some marks for his "reward", and the questions fired by Luca are very interesting. I mean...perhaps, with those funds Luca at his disposal NOW, he could do the real thing, while he couldn't do it without them.
  7. Luca, please don't underestimate what ttback says. He's the guy who offered a new nx500 to vasile as a burner camera, with no return from this. He's a real nx fan. If he offers 10k, he'll honor this, I'm 100% sure. Rather, he should exactly define the 'goal' for those 10k. If I had to be the 'judge', I'd say that a working af adapter has to: 1) work with no external processing hw attached (eg Arduino or else) 2) has to be in the shape/size/weight of the metabones 3) has to use the internal af algorithms of nx1 4) has to be as fast as the original combo of canon+lens for af 5) has to control aperture with nx1 commands 6) has to enable ois if the lens has it 7) has to work with most (all) canon compatible lenses 8) has to use autonomous power (taking it from nx1 or providing it with batteries inside the adapter) That's my list, you could have different ideas (I'm especially curious about what ttbek thinks of this).
  8. Nikon should partner with Samsung and build a killer mirrorless, video oriented camera, to fight gh5 but with an apsc sensor.
  9. Yup, strange, we have a totally different experience.
  10. As others have already reported, the NX1 is really excellent for what you seem to need. Strange that you say that: "It's 2017, and still no affordable camera with nice 50/60p slowmo image", since NX1 (120fps@1080 with APSC full sensor readout) has been out since November, 2014, at a lauch price of about 1.500€. I bought it at the beginning of February, 2015 at 1.220€ shipped. Some months later (say end 2015) it was possible to buy it for barely more than 1000€. There have been reports of some new NX1 bodies sold for 800€ or even less, new, in the months following the announce of it being discontinued. I'm still regretting I didn't buy a second one, by then. I don't know your concept of "affordable", but to me NX1 was an outstanding deal since the very beginning, considering that even now it's vastly unmatched for under 3-4x its launch price.
  11. I agree about the Aputure solution. As I wrote in older posts, this solution does not solve my issues as well. What I'd need is a real AF (autofocus) for Canon lenses, so that I can use it for the longer tele lenses (missing for NX). Any other solution will be, for me, useless. I'm still confident that Luca can do the "real thing", sooner or later i.e.: an adapter converting the samsung protocol to Canon, and drive Canon lenses as if they were native NX ones. I'm only "afraid" that the required time and cost for this item are too high (making it more convenient to buy a "cheap" canikon body to use just for those lenses). I hope that the (very kind) 10k offer from ttbek could make the price more convenient for future buyers of the intelligent adapter if/when it comes.
  12. Cool! As long as all the AF is really "auto", using the in body algorithms and is decently fast, I'll be a big fan of your new project, as you know! I'd like a 300-400mm lens on my NX1.
  13. This is very interesting, but I didn't understand exactly what it should/could do: transfer video on wifi directly? If so...in which format?
  14. Wow, the tamron seems to have really good quality on NX1! If only such a lens could have a fast AF on our beloved samsung
  15. Arikhan, this is very odd since (for stills) I have exactly the opposite result as yours! I can push the shadows at least 4 stops, before they get too much noisy. And the dpr tool is confirming this, where NX1 is on par or better than the best FF cameras out there, in pulling exposure in post.
  16. Actually Samsung was almost there with nx1 (out in nov 2014), but most ppl were not enough open minded to understand that (both inside samsung and among customers).
  17. Mountneer, I generally agree. As to dxo score, it's very much influenced by the high iso score, which is obviously better for 1dx being a latest gen full frame camera (vs 2014 apsc on nx1). I rather think that the difference even on dxo is really small, considering the format and price difference among the two.
  18. Or, rather, the average leading cameras are so "behind" in pure technology, that a tech giant like samsung made wonders at its first serious attempt. Only after more than 2 years, the new top end products are keeping up in some fields (like the CPU in the new Olympus and Pana), while still being way behind in sensor tech.
  19. https://***URL removed***/forums/post/57361842 You'll find all the info from ihkim. You can also contact him directly, he is a very nice person.
  20. Disclaimer: what I'd like to have on my NX1 is a full AF adapter for long and decently cheap tele lenses (those missing for NX), like tamron 150-600 or something like that. That said, the best for me would be a metabones alike adapter, with all the electronic inside it AND aperture controls for other brands. If this is unfeasible, I could consider the Techart, but I should test it first to see if it satisfies my needs. Of course, if focusing is too slow or the adapter gets too expensive, I could end by preferring a Nikon D5500 body (or even the now ultra cheap D5300). So, to make the long story short: 2 (maybe)
  21. I remember your nice movie done with nx1. What happened to it? Imo it's still the best option among the mentioned ones.
  22. Perhaps 30fps could work with eshutter, if available...
  23. I was not clear. I wanted to say...if canon had a mirrorless camera as good as nx1, a6500 or x-t2....which it has not.
  24. If canon had a camera like nx1/a6500/xt2, very few ppl would care about other brands/cameras. Canon brand is simply to strong and camera market is made of loyal customers, averse to change.
