I have a 77mm set of 3 Tiffen UltraContrast filters, in strengths of 1, 3, & 5. Happy to sell to anyone interested. I love the look but have moved to vintage lenses that are already low contrast. The 5 in particular is great at lifting shadows when shooting at night.

No, sorry, no mention of global shutter in that scenario. It was just a question of whether the current crop of approved SD cards could handle the increased 60p RAW datarate. My guess is global shutter is not activated on the BMMCC that Noam Kroll received. Nor has it been activated on any of the URSA Minis out in the wild. It's likely the testers have been asked not to confirm its absence. When asked about it they all couch their answers with responses like "this footage was shot in rolling shutter mode". Since this is the one feature conspicuously absent from any and all test footage, it's safe to assume, its implementation is the cause for the late arrival of these cameras.

yeah, i'd like to see that.

just received a Trump38/58/88 set from Richard Gale at Dog Schidt Optiks. Let's me mimic an anamorphic look, along with a bunch of other fun stuff. Great combo.

I love it. I've rigged it out to be just heavy enough to avoid micro-jitters. And I loving how skin tones are rendered. I struggled to get the GH4 someplace it didn't want to go for six months. Should have traded resolution for color and DR a long time ago. I'm much happier.

Only the studio 4k version has SDI (as seen in that pic) because it doesn't record internally. the micro cinema camera has no SDI. HDMI only for monitoring. I'm very happy that a monitor is not integrated into this unit. hopefully it will have a positive effect on battery life. but more importantly, I plan to treat the camera body like I would an Alexa Mini that's been miniaturized even further, allowing me to place my SmalHD 502 monitor where i need it for any given situation -- behind it when on sticks, forward when shoulder mounted, or with a 15ft HDMI cable run when car mounted so i can monitor the shot while hiding in the backseat.

one reassurance I got out of him is the Micro will do 60p in RAW. some were worried about the datarate being too high for the approved lot of SD cards.

My review of The Revenant, shot on the Alexa 65mm in only natural light
Zak Forsman replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Never. I don't go to movies rooting for the filmmaker to fail. I suppose any disappointment is the price one pays for not being an asshole. -

Every time i walk into one of Inarritu's movies, I'm very optimistic. But I never feel quite satisfied by the experience. Couldn't quite connect with this one either. It was beautifully rendered certainly. But looking back i think my issue with it was that this had an hour's worth of story in the first and third act, with 90 minutes of episodic survival sequences that (for me) stalled the plot. meaning, you could have replaced all those scene with a "two weeks later..." title card and you'd have no meaningful issues with the narrative, character arcs, etc. Loved the beginning and ending though. -
Yeah, it's likely that store says "sold out" because they don't have any inventory (for obvious reasons). HOWEVER!!.... This might be the first actual functioning BMMCC in the wild. by way of Noam Kroll. https://www.instagram.com/p/BAidmqRwazM/

RODNEY CHARTERS: BM POCKET CAMERA, 4K ACQUISITION & ALEXA
Zak Forsman replied to enny's topic in Cameras
there isn't any. we're talking about the micro cinema camera. not the micro studio camera. different animal. that being said, I expect it will look identical to the pocket. same sensor, just supercharged. -

same. going to use a SmallHD 502 and i will like having the versatility to keep the monitor mounted behind the camera when its on sticks, moving it forward when shoulder mounted, or even used with a 15ft HDMI cable to monitor a car-mounted shot from the back seat. -
thank you for pointing this out. didn't know the site had this. cleaning house.

yeah, I'm still reeling after watching season 2 of The Knick. it was awesome.

yeah, I know a lot of people who didn't like it. I have a feeling my ranked list of Tarantino's movies would be more or less inverted when compared to most. I still count Jackie Brown amongst his best.

Yeah, i really enjoyed the experience as well. All the actors were SUPERCHARGED. I could have watched another three hours worth. Having the intermission was wonderful. I liked having the opportunity to talk with my wife and friends about what we'd sen so far, as well as, grab more popcorn.

boring conversation anyway...

I have a SmallHD 502 monitor that I plan to use with the Micro. But just noticed that B&H is selling the 501 (No SDI, HDMI Only) for $599 until the end of day Monday. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1153980-REG/smallhd_mon_501_501_hdmi_full_hd.html/dealZone/true

It's unlikely I know, but I suspect this was shot by a time-traveling music video director from the eighties.

at say 300dpi, you could print a 1920x1080 frame at 6.4"x3.6"

about 30€ / $35 for shipping. the sale is over now but over the weekend the BMPCC was only 533€, and because I didn't have to pay the 166€ VAT on top of it, it made for a great deal.
