Don't buy a speedbooster expecting the AF to be good. It works, just not very well compared to native lenses. AF == native mount lenses. Buy used and you won't lose anything on them, if cost is of concern.
-
I use only native lenses, particularly the pro Olympus ones, since they have the proper manual focus ring that will actually work with my follow focus. The Oly 7-14 is amazing, it isn't cheap but it performs amazingly. I have left it and the gh4 out in the rain shooting timelapse over night and it didn't skip a beat. If you are only shooting video, it doesn't really matter a whole lot either way, its just whether you are happy with how much the kit will weigh with those big lenses. If you are using them for photos too, you have to go native. I went with native mounts, since I dont want a super heavy kit + I need them for stills AF performance.

It's lower quantity, plus, in my experience, m43 lenses seem to be better corrected than most of the full frame crap that gets pedaled. Its launch price is high, but it will inevitably come down once the oly 1.2 is launched

Monitors wise, I use dell a U2415h. Its not huge, 2560x1440 and it cost me ~$400. That is the best option in my eyes. If you want to match the size, go for the 27" dell ultrasharps.

Im in a tricky situation. With the kumamoto delays, we cant get an fs5 for at least a month or two. Has anyone used the FS5 and this JVC? They are very similar cameras by must looks, just no raw or super slow mo on the jvc, only 120fps. And no 4k sdi either?

I use Sandisk Extreme cards on my gh4 and they are relatively cheap. Ive also used $10 Patriot Class 10 cards, and the camera was still happy. Go with Extremes and you will be fine I think.

ViiGim 503 (3 axis gimbal) - Sony a6300 - E 35mm 1.8 - DOF demo

I don't think its a bad pick, dual IMUs is good and it runs SimpleBGC, so at least it has good firmware. At this point though, I would be looking at a gimbal with encoders, it seems to make a really big difference, so you don't have to calibrate it as accurately and it also means the battery lasts a bit longer. See if you can pick up a cheap 2nd gen Came-Single or something similar. It will be a bit more expensive, but I think it will be better. -
I use premiere since we get it fairly cheaply from work. I'm finding it a buggy mess since the most immediate update and I get weird errors. That being said, CC can't be beaten, because inevitably you will need to use AE or Il or Ps or something, and they are all just thrown in for the fee. I also like that its cross platform, which helps when clients need the edit files but have a pc not a mac or the other way round etc.

Its a question of how much you are earning vs how much more work/how much better work you can do with the more powerful machine. The Mac Pro will be more powerful, without a doubt. If you are doing 19hr days and an extra $2k can turn that into a 12hr day, or you can fit more work in, I would argue its worth it. I would probably not buy one if thats what my lively hood depended on, and I didn't. tldr. time=money. How much is your time worth?

My take on a travel camera is one that you don't have to baby or worry about, it just does its job and gets out of the way. GH4 fits the perfectly. I have left it out overnight in the rain with the 12-35 doing a timelapse and it was fine. And this was a slightly abused, used camera before I bought it. Video quality is great, you get 1.5hrs on a 64gb card (and not u3 cards, cheap u1 cards work fine). Battery will last probably three times that of continuous recording. Plus a usable slow mo! As for photo quality being a con, I totally disagree. I think we are at a point where you can use virtually any camera for photos and it will do a good job. GH4 especially with Pana lenses has decent tracking AF and perfect single AF. Raws are versatile, there are lots of small lenses too. It's what I would take if I could only have one body.

I found this on ebay this evening looking for a used GH3. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EF-MFT-Lens-Adapter-for-Canon-EOS-EF-EF-S-to-Micro-Four-Thirds-GH3-GH4-OM-D-E-5-/331793152264?hash=item4d4069b908:g:LcQAAOSw8-tWXUwF Has anyone seen this or know anything about it? Its the cheapest powered adapter I have seen. Is it a fotodiox clone?

AF100 is also a good bet because of relay recording and built in NDs, both things you miss out on in milcs. Its a bit old, but if you need a proper video camera you can rely on and has all the trimmings, it is all you can get with a m/43 mount. Im just waiting for a cheap used one

I used furniture polish and mine is fine again. Put a bit on a cotton bud and wipe it around and it will fix it!

I shoot with native m4/3 glass, the oly 7-14 pro, oly 12-40 pro and the pana 35-100 f2.8. I also shoot photos, so I need the AF. I am looking to move to the oly 45-150 pro, but its too much more expensive than the pana to make it worth it, just for the pumpy focus ring. I would love to shoot with nikon speedboosted glass, but I honestly don't need the extra cost of a speedbooster (aud$1100), the weight of full frame lenses, or the extra shallow DOF.

Eric, you are a legend, and so consistent on releasing these. Keep it up!

If I could have only one camera, it would be the GH4. I have left it out overnight in the rain, the timelapse completed. The batteries last forever, the 100mbps codec is solid, it never even gets warm. I have my three zoom trinity that covers everything @ f2.8. I don't have to buy U3 cards to get the camera to actually record. 10 bit external 1080 is good too. The panasonic is a really solid camera if you want have something to rely on and never have to worry about it. Used GH4s are going for <$900 aud now, compared to AUD$1500 for the A6300. I know what I would buy.

I recently bought a nebula 4000, and it was working great out of the box, I was getting silky smooth footage with my gh4 +12-35. Only problem is, I hit reset and I lost all the default profiles and for the life of me, I cannot find them anywhere online. Does anyone have a copy of the defualt profiles I can have? I cannot seem to PID it from scratch :s

What was your shutter speed? Did you speed the footage up? It just feels really robotic almost

For exactly the same price, you can get the Sony x70 + 4k firmware upgrade: $2500. Both have a 1" sensor, although the sony is f2.8 constant aperture. Sony has SDI and takes cheap SD cards. I use the x70 at work, we bought two to replace and supplement our aging EX1. I can't help but think that the x70 would be a better pick in almost all cases compared to the xc10.
-
x70 would work well. We have them at work, Low light is good, just throw them in auto. Battery lasts for ~4-5 hours if you use the extended battery. Just use 64 or 128gb cards and you will get many hours record time. No 4k yet. We also use sony EX-1s and they would also be perfect. I think on the big batteries we get ~5 hours, and if you can afford the cards, you can probably record continuously for that long. Not a small camera though

With STM lenses it might be ok

Kipon has just announced a $285 USD EF/m43 adapter, that retains full autofocus, IS and EXIF data. Is it any good? Is it a clone electronically speaking, of the Metabones one? http://www.kipon.com/en/articledetail.asp?id=80
