  1. Looks good. Its been in stock for a week or so in small numbers here, but today its of course in full stock in all stores.. and its my day off.. very tempting.
  2. Even then it was so and so. Video sure. But stills.....
  3. Im not just implying, Im straight up saying, 4K in these consumer stills cameras EOS-R, Z6, GH5, XT3 and Sony A7iii (I don't even list the NX1 because it can't compete) is not yet relevant and not the end all feature people make it out to be. Either way, since the tweet was removed this is nothing but yet another tiresome Sony apology thread. Out. If its still under warranty send it in because its broken. I can have log with my predetermined video settings and jump to it form any stills mode by just hitting record
  4. Not correct. LOG is available. Personally I shoot HD on all stills cameras (Sony, Fuji, etc) because of rolling shutter. The EOS-R has no RS in HD. So it is full frame for me. (4K on these consumer stills cameras doesn't make any sense for me for other reasons as well like file size, computer power and that no one can see the difference anyway. Not online and not on the big screen. So I dont bother, 4K better be on a real camera or not at all. But if one must have 4K I agree, framing would be difficult if one isn't quick enough.) Agreed. Never seen a camera with easier transitions between video and stills. Its one of the main reasons I pre-ordered one and later bought one for my employer as well. For me there was simply to many upsides. Biggest and most affordable lens line in history, top display, ergonomics, no RS, Full Frame video with C-log, Canon colors, 30mp stills, 8fps Raw continuous AF with a huge buffer, DPAF for stills (loved it since the 6Dmkii), good EVF, and more. All at a competitive price. I totally get why some choose an A7iii, Z6, S1, GH5, etc instead. We all have different needs. But trying to dismiss the R as being "bad" or calling anyone that find it useful a "fool" or "zombie" is just being totally naive, a fanboy or a troll.
  5. Seems to know his way around a camera. But does he have enough experience reading spec sheets on forums to back it up?
  6. No one has said anything about that. I suggest you ignore this thread because it's not about criticism. It's about the over representation of Sony users threatening, attacking and bullying anyone who doesn't blindly apologize for Sony's shortcomings and hate all other brands. If you haven't experienced it, good for you. But many have and there is data supporting it. So we wish to discuss it
  7. Doesn't look very different from the first test frames from the unfinished D16. I rather see them turn around and succeed so people that wasted money get something out of it. Again, not saying it will happen. Just that I hope it does. And I don't buy that you actually believe having an image to start from is worse than having nothing, it's just forum banter.
  8. As a member of that group and a brand agnostic that currently own zero Canon cameras I can testify to what they say. I also had to block several Sony trolls. And I did see the awful behavior of posting pictures of others family members and calling them ugly. I have not witness any such behavior from other brands fanboys within that group.
  9. No its shipping now. At least I have found it in stock. You left out a part of what I said so I guess it doesn't have it but just to be sure, are you saying it has a decent internal codec like Prores or similar? Maybe, hopefully they sort out some other issues while they are at it. Would you shoot a multi million dollar feature film on the A7siii? Would you mount an A7siii on underneath a skateboard? The list can go on.. You didn't make any specifications to what you where going to use it for so I just assumed it was for general content creation. And since you are replacing a huge 1Dxii I assumed a similar size was ok for you. Since Canon was first with 4K and first with 4K/60p its not unlikely that they will make something like that. It will be pricy for sure.
  10. I wonder if it's some sort of over compensation for always playing catch up. Sony has no real "firsts". And even if that doesn't mean anything, because it doesn't. It seems important among spec hunters.
  11. If Fuji moves away from X-trans then I will move away from Fuji. The X-trans raw files is the main reason why I use them so much.
  12. Another question is when will any camera manufacturer give you those specs? Probably not for a long time. And when they do it's probably some h.265 crap. It sounds like it's time to graduate from messing with stills cameras and getting a real video camera. Won't be FF though.
  13. I hope they push on and make it. Long way to go but at least there is an image to start from.
  14. Yup saw that. Given that the raw also would have been externally there is still chance. A small chance, but still.
  15. It would be cool for sure. Speaking of the R. Picked up my second R a few hours ago together with the 35mm f1.8 IS Macro. That lens has officially blown my mind. It is insanely detailed without being to sharp. IS works quietly. AF is fast. Before preordering my personal R the 35mm itself was one of the main reasons. Now I know that my thought process was justified
  16. Yes, according to him the original was capable to record raw and convert to prores and they said that if a camera company wanted they could even give it raw with firmware (I guess this is what ended up being the Z6 raw). No idea. The patent for the EF mount expired "coincidently" around the same time as the BMCC was announced. So maybe we could count backwards to when it was first released and then take it from there as some sort of reference The tweet was from Canon USA Pro and it contained a poll that basically said, "What do you want to learn about at NAB, Raw lite in the C200 or EOS-R Raw Recording?"
  17. There is no crop today so I would imagine. (I don't shoot 4K unless its with a global shutter.) Looks like they removed the tweet Either it was a mirage, or someone jumped the gun. So a "Oh well" or a "Wow".
  18. I guess it could be raw lite. The dream is for the patent to Red Code to run out. It is by far my favorite codec and workflow of all times.
  19. I spoke to an Atomos rep years ago when the Shogun was new. He said that they where ready to record Raw from basically any stills camera already back then. They where just waiting for any of the camera makers to say go ahead. Fast forward several years and Nikon said "go". It would make sense for more to jump on the same wagon. If it will happen with Canon or not is another question. And if so, will it be on the R? Who knows, might even be a typo for all we know. Im picking up my second R today. Raw recording or not, it is my weapon of choice for pro video work. If it gets it, yey. If not, oh well. It would not be something I need, just a nice.
  20. Great news. Looking forward to seeing how you get along with the Kipon Medium Format Speedbooster on the Nikon. I use it at least once for every shoot with my EOS-R, both at home and at work. With a 150mm its a joy for stills.
