Well, Red bans forum users and I dont have to mention Blackmagic. As an expert in the subject I can say, there are more media strategies than one. There are thousands. I would be very surpriced if thet didnt have a reason for doing what they do. Time will tell if its good or bad.

Who says its someone without experience, they could all be Samsung drop outs for all we know. The Digital Bolex was just two people with a dream. One had built a photoboth. And that camera is imo one of the top tier cinema cameras out there.

I would get EF. You can still control aperture on Nikon lenses with a cheap Nikon-EF. And you get to adapt m42, C/Y and others to the speedbooster. And you still get two lenses in on all of them by keeping a spare dumb ED-mft.

Great looking footage. But the Mini 4.6K footage looks just as nice imo. It sounded like you had shot or at least seen side by sides. Guess I have to wait until I can make the call which looks better. Also saying it looks like both the Alexa and Red (which Red btw) is wierd since they look so different. At least imo.

Think your right. Panasonic has the potential but it doesnt feel like we are there yet. I guess BMD is the most likely but Im not counting out others like Bolex , Craft, etc. BTW, many of us get serious G.A.S during NAB. This year I might have a cure. Instead of following the "Wait until NAB", Im unboxing my very own LS300 today EDIT: That reminds me, for the first NAB, JVC is under the loupe. Hopefully they release the 120p to be able to promote it as current. And who knows, maybe something new.

Here is my response to all the usual hate that everything gets at Nofilmschool. "When will Canon understand that the only type of camera user is the artsy narrative movie maker? Why do they think that there are people out there taking stills, collecting news, surveilance, special things like remote controled robots, live broadcast, regular home users? That doesnt exist. Just look through the comments. Artsy narrative movies with no lighting in high frame rates and razor thin dof. That is the only type of content created anywhere in the world. And the people that makes them are broke, so it cant cost as much as it needs for profit. News, sports, porn, childrens TV, docs, reality, event, concerts.... Nope all gone. In fact, all of those things are illegal to even discuss online. Anyone who makes or even discuss such productions will be killed by the "Bitter Online Film Looking Video Makers Movement"."

I dont think this lens is for those who bought an F3. This is for ENG and the F3 is not a very good ENG camera imo. Atleast I never ever see it among reporters. Canon on the other hand has a massive user base in ENG and Run n Gun.

I think Blackmagic, Canon or a Wild-Card company will release my future B-Cam. I dont think Panasony will do it. A also think 4K recorders will be big. Maybe a Blackmagic Hyperdeck 4K or Atomos Ninja Star 4K.

They have been using it for quite some time with great results. Definetelly shows a segment where the camera is great. This is mainly a "film maker" forum. But we sometimes seem to forget that not everyone of Panasony and Canikons customers are. Some are videomakers like Jared and some are still photographers, again like Jarred. Thats why I sometimes have an issue with the "only an idiot would..", "thats crap because..." and "why does Canon..." type of attitude on every single product that doesnt also serve as a perfect tool for shooting a narrative movie.

I voted old Red or Blackmagic. You can get a fully kitted Scarlet for $4k that will give you the look you want. An entertaining Red One MX movie is the Lincoln Lawyer. -
It sucks. I remeber showing a doc I spent hours grading to a friend on his dads TV. It looked like a low quality porno.

Youre right, they should take note. Both 35mbps as well as 200 and 305mbps 4:2:2 Log in 4K and an editable format would have saved the NX1 from extinction.

I use Prores Proxy on mac and H.264 150mbit on PC for both youtube and Vimeo. Both hit the roof of what they can deliver imo.

It makes sense for cameras that has a power outlet or that uses external power as standard. IMO, pretty much the cameras where a $2000 external EVF makes sense. -
Read my post again. (but if you must know it was in sports broadcasting, highest leagues in the biggest sport to be exact. Like I said not high end but way more viewers and more money involved.) ( It seems you might also need a or two to take the edge of... people really are in a bad mood lately, wonder if its NAB or something that causes it.)
