This nifty thing showed up a couple of days ago. Have been playing with it today and I really like it. Its sweet to have it pretty much permanently sitting on the tripod. That way Im never to lazy to bring along a slider. Did a quick revive as well.

Yeah, and the best part is that you get both.

The trade of for Global Shutter is one stop DR and lowlight. Stated also by BMD.

So I took the Sony A7sii to "The Building of Moire" today. Sony has quite a bad track record over there but since its 4K, I had some hopes. (click images for full res) Firstly I snapped a photo, not looking good so far... Next up I tested in HD, which of course is decent in the same way most 1:1 crops are. But it does that digital detail smash when it just lumps the bristles together like the Samsungs and AX100. Making them look thicker than they are. After that I went 4K SLOG3, And sure, there is some but very little, and this is the worst place in the world. Like seriously, the worst. But just before I left I thought to test without LOG and would you look at that So if you're ever in a pickle moire wise, testing without Slog might just save you Here is the whole Mega Test again if anyone wants to compare.

I shot this on the t3i back in the day. To this day its still my mostly viewed video. But to be fare it had 110 000 views in one day and 250 000 views in one weekend, so its not really comparable to the 200k ish videos I have today. Any who, looking at it I would say its good enough of a camera for the beginner. (and also, IKEA now makes them )

Yup, I still recomend it all the time. That or the G6. Great and cheap learning cameras.

The force is strong with this one.

Hyper focal distance. This is old school stuff. My mostly used stills camera is a Medium Format Zeiss with no viewfinder what so ever. Doesn't stop me Im sure they aren't talking about it as the only way and only camera to use. Just a bit of fun.

Doubt it, Sony have heat issues. If size is what matters I agree, but if one just wants a s35 4K camera I think one definitely should look t the much cheaper NX1.

Same reason DSLRs still outsell mirrorless?

I thought that goes without saying.

I think its a bit of a generation thing. A guy I have working with me is 10 years younger than me (im 33). Both me and him are movie fans, we both saw H8 in 70mm. Both of us use analog film for our stills. I use medium format and he shoots large format and is getting into wet prints. We share similar tastes in other vintage stuff, we like the same movies, video games, etc. But we differ on one subject. He loves the look of Loord of the rings, CGI, 48fps, sharp sharp images etc. I like practical effects, film, 24p etc. And when we argue about it, its clear to me that we simply don't see the same thing. When I point at the bear in the new dicaprio movie and say "look how fake" he just scratches his head. He has no idea what Im on about. When I used Jurassic Park as an example of practical vs cgi, he thinks they look equally good. He is simply used to it. That's what movies have looked like all his life. He doesn't remember the pre digital era. Another example is dubbing. When Im in Germany I think, "how can they watch this, I mean its so badly done its comical?". Then I ask a german friend, "What do you mean, its in perfect synk and the voice matches spot on, no one could ever tell the difference". They are used to it. Ok, totally off topic from the Weapon. But a thought On topic, It looked stellar but Im not blown away. URSA 4.6k, Dragon, Weapon, Tomato, Tomaato.

They are talking about not using a screen. Therefore no zebras.

In Sweden the NX1 is 25% cheaper.

Or the BMPC4K, or the compressed raw in the bmcc. So yeah, its totally possible.

Am I the only one finding it hard to ignore the JVC LS300?

Lens electronics and stabilization doesnt matter to me. The screen sounds annoying. How bad is it in your opinion to the bmpcc screen (which I think works just fine)? -
Getting the 2.5K back in the NX500 would make my day.
-
Thats a really good idea.

Ahh, I wouldn't know since the only Sonys where I have been switching between Slowmo and Real Time was on the A7/7ii and FS100. And on both I could do it externally without menus. That's what I want to find out. Since pretty much all cameras look like "news footage" imo in demo videos (sony, Panasonic, canon, etc). Its when users start experimenting that they come alive. But since its not selling it never happens. Might be a "bad" camera but there is to little info to make the call imo. -

Out of curiosity, Lots of people mention menus. Whats there to do in a menu? It has all the external controls old school camcorders like the hmc151 has and Ive never gone into the menus for anything on those. Thats sort of the point of camcorders. Its why the fs5 exsist next to the a7sii and a6300. Its the bread and butter of the C-line. -

He he, Häagen-Dazs is a bit of a scam. They named it so people would think they where getting some genuine Euro-Cream, but no
