How about another "Guess the Camera?" :)
Mattias Burling replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
Good, really good. When I played around I opted to push out of manual into AF so the ring is a zoom, zoom and then push again before focusing. That way the AF already had it close to focus anyway. Not good workflow for continuous takes, but good from time to time. -

I got the 16-50 with the camera. The focus is alright as far as wired goes. But the zoom button sucks big time. I used to have the 30/2 for the NX1. It was nice but since I have the Nikkors 17-35/2.8 and the 35/1.4 I feel covered. Just bought a used 16mm f2.4 for a very good price. Feels good to have a pancake prime and zoom for the pocket when traveling etc. -

Yup. and the 30/2.0 pancake is very cheap right now. And used they are tough sales = good price for us EDIT: Just had a look at the prices of all the pancakes... man its a cheap system. Its a one way system, but it will be cheap for anyone getting in now. Can probably still sell it to a less informed buyer down the road. I still se the old Olympus system being sold online form time to time. -

Its not much resale value either. Mine was pretty much for free. -

For what Im going to use it for its quirks wont be in the way much. Its meant as a bit of a BTS and point and shoot. -
Gorgeous pic! Film still rules the galaxy.

Thought I would play a little trick to see what happens

You should Its a medium format Yashica D with Kodak Portra 400 developed at home. Probably should have added grain to the 2nd so it wouldn't have been so obvious. Its the BMPC4K with an old Pentacon 50mm wide open. Here is one from the Yashica D when I have corrected for not having a blue filter and using Ektar.

I didn't until yesterday. I rarely own more than 2 cameras at the time. That's how it is now as well. My BMCC found a better home yesterday when the NX500 came. Plus a couple of analog cameras of course. A Bolex, two K-3s and a few still cameras. -
Ok a clue. Not all are film.
-
Exactly, other people are going to assume what they se out of Hollywood is correct. And calibration makes your image relatively closer to that. The very few that have extremely bad monitors don't know it themselves anyway.

Nope, nothing wrong with the lens. At f1.4 and iso 800 on a HD sensor its bound to be a bit soft. -

No. -
What they primarily do is calibrate the screen for your room so that you see what's corrects. Others are just gonna have to live with it. But, most phones and tablets are actually very good at representing what the image should look like. So all in all its not that big of an issue. I had an external screen once that was showing me to low contrast. It was a pain. Since then I always calibrate and match external monitors.

This is the one I have, http://www.xrite.com/colormunki-display

I use a Colormunki calibrator. Works really nice in matching screens for me as well as keeping it fresh to current light changes.

Since no one got the refrigerator in the last round I will make a quick bonus round. Also I hope others will dig around on their drives and offer us a challenge Clue: There is more than one camera.
-
"Ruled this out due to size and no stabilized fast primes which are absolutely essential for how I shoot (handheld mostly, no rigging as need to keep a low profile)" What about the Tamron 35 and 45mm f1.8? They can of course go on all the cameras you are thinking about including Canon. "GH4 - Long battery, crazy reliable, 4K, slow mo etc. Only downside is the smaller sensor." And even lower DR. Of the two you have left I would personally go for the A7sii (but given the choice of anything, none of them). Mainly because of the FF sensor, wider DR, imo better EVF, IBIS and the lovley E-mount.

Good morning all! What a round that was. Lots of creative answers of anything from the Red One (on fb) to the 5Dii (which I dont have anymore). Im sorry to say that the refrigerator will go into the next round. Thats right folks, two refrigerators in the next jackpot round of "Guueeeeesss the Cameraaaa!!" (fading boxing announcement voice) Correct answer was..... A NX500 with a Nikkor 35mm f1.4 in almost no light. -

Yeah I just discovered that wierd stuff in the shadows on the dog. Please ignore it. Not a characteristic of the equipment, just of my sloppyness -
I enjoy when others make theses things, so to give something back, Guess what camera/lens this is. Clues: Lowlight Grain added

Ive been using the luts made for the 1DC Log with good results.

No Im not upset, not even a tiny tiny bit (I will take is as a way of dodging the questions) Let me be very clear here: If you are happy with your G7 then I'm happy for you and will not say that you made any kind of mistake in buying one. But telling folks shopping for a film-making camera that the G7 is superior for video compared to cameras that can do great DR, and telling them they are better off without great colors, large sensor, etc., is a bit misleading and is not IMHO just a matter of personal taste. Do you see what I'm trying to tell you here. I made that choice. And in doing so I am 100% evidence to you that there are folks out there that value different things in an image. That's why pretty much everyone in this forum would rather shoot a 2K Alexa over a 4K G7 or 4K Red. People are different, you're values aren't everyone else's. And that's not an opinion, its a fact and its not for you to buy, but face. Again, this is OT, lets drop it.
