  1. Some never learn the difference between sharpness and resolution. Its just how it is.
  2. Not even needed to drag it to the square. Just drop it on the timeline.
  3. Maybe I should do a follow up on my test
  4. The stills are just fine for thumbnails, news and instagramish type of publishing. Its not like any of my cinema cameras have any sort of still function. If I want great stills its pretty much a FF digital or medium format film for me.
  5. I obviously choose the XC10 over the RX10ii. And I have never regreted it.
  6. Sure, Here is a test I made.
  7. I wonder about moire. The a6000 is one of the worst cameras ever in that respect. In general 4K doesn't have much but its noticeable from time to time in for example the NX1.
  8. The D750 has a wider DR than the earlier A-models in my experience and they also claimed +13 stops if Im not misstaken. So I would be very surprised if it did better than the D750. And pretty surprised if it was equal. But if it is 14 usable, beating both the d750, bmcc and Red.. Then my hat is of. Still not a camera for me though. Atleast not a B-cam.
  9. Its fine. Works as it should and isnt stiff.
  10. Ive been burned by Sonys DR estimates enough times to say: No way it will have 14 stops of usable DR in daylight. But would of course love to be proven wrong.
  11. Finally had time to pick up the 35mm from the post office. Had a quick play on the BMCC and I like what I see. Very clean bokeh balls. Also really like the build, which I normaly dont on old Nikkors. But this had a nice solid feel.
  12. You said, "Canon 1DX mk 2 has 1,335x crop DCI 4K and 1,425 crop in 4K (UHD)." Looks to like you didn't know it only shoot 4K DCI, you seemed to think there where two modes like on for example the Smasung NX1. All Im saying is that you aren't exactly correct down to the decimal or atleast not clear enough to be so demanding of others in their writing of specs. Just my opinion, don't have to agree.
  13. Well, you claimed they both shot 4K and UHD. So your not exactly accurate to the last number either.
  14. Upscaling to 4K is better. It gives the video roughly 30mbit. But I have lately started going 1440p (2.5K) as well. It gives almost double the bitrate than regular HD (I believe 16mbit) but doesn't take as long and saves space. I good middle ground. So I upscale HD and get a little crop leverage in 4K. 1440p monitors are also a bit more common than 4K still. The dimension is 2560x1440.
  15. Much easier for me to read now. I really like it, such a nice job on the camera, grade, exposures etc. I lost one audio channel for a while at 01:38
  16. Cfast arent that expensive anymore. Alot has happened since the original URSA was announced.
  17. So it all came down to the heat again Good post, highly apriciated! If I was a still shooter I would be all over this.
  18. Yeah I get the estetics of how they where. Problem is that I couldnt read them. I missed the message completly. And Im fairly good at English with a Highschool diploma after a year in Pennsylvania some 15 years ago. But if the target audience is only natives, it probably works. I can test on my GF. She is better than me.
  19. There you go. Makes a little since since its almost 10 years old. And since one can record internally in Redcode it wouldn't be very beneficial. I doubt any recorder has access to Redcode. EDIT: Speaking of nothing, I just watched this shot on the Red1. Pretty epic at 02:19, must have been rad to film that.
  20. Liked it a lot. Very nice. Only thing for me was that the subs where to fast, might be because its not my native language. In Sweden we don't dub and all movies/shows on TV have subs. Then they always have two rows, That lets each line hang a little longer and is not changing the phase either. Just a thought.
  21. And if they had it, the problem would probably still be the same as always. Heat.
  22. Wow, that's not bad at all. My BMPC got 12min in 25p on 240GB so that's not bad at all.. Well, you answered it yourself. Its not for video shooters. It could be if you must have 4K 60fps in a small package, but as you say, its a bonus.
  23. A massive crop is of course a potential let down. But I totally agree about the transcoding. Back in my early days of Raw I always transcoded. And I usually do it straight from the card, never copy to the hard drive to save space. In fact, with SSDs, SD Extreme and Cfast I always edit straight from the card (Unless its super important footage). Stills, that's it. Its a top notch stills camera. That's 97% of its purpose.
  24. Everyone and their mom have been screaming about 4k 60fps in a DSLR as long as 4K has been available. And when its here the codec is wrong.. Its at least a tiny bit funny imo The reason is probably the same as always. Heat. To shoot the 4K 422 the XC10 has a fan. And thats on a 1". I doubt many still photogs would want that. And by looking at the latest sales reports they are still the once in control. Canon still was at the top and I bet they want to stay there. Personally I would just dump the 4K if I wanted the framerates that badly. HD upscale is still on par with 4K on youtube etc. TV is still 720p. Bla bla bla we know this already. But it is true. 4K still is where 6K is today. Nice but not need.
