A few musings on what I missed in my month off from EOSHD!
Mattias Burling replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Good choice, I will be selling the G7 this weekend. I'm impressed but still very underwhelmed. (Jag har inte så många som man kan tro, byter ofta ) -
I would be very surprised if it did. The brain is much more clever than that. You can switch back and forth as you choose. It's like knowing both how to ride a bike and roller skate. We are capable of more skills than one.

I can say after owning a Nikon for one week. The focus direction isn't a big deal. Your brain is clever enough to deal with it. To be fare we have many Nikons at work which I use from time to time. But that's for stills and in AF. I got used to the direction pretty much instantly. I guess it's no different than switching to my K3 that has a focus leaver. The wrong direction when putting it in the mount on the other hand.... that's a different story. 33 years of "righty tighty" isn't going away that easy. Only downside to Nikon imo is the lack of cheap vintage lenses. I can get super sharp and fast primes for Canon at $10 a pop. Not so much for Nikon. On the flip side my Nikon glass goes on any other camera I come across.

Cool. I had a similar approach a few monts back when the A7rii was released. I looked at the price and thought "why". Bought two 16mm film cameras and a bunch of film instead. And still had over $2000 left before reaching the cost of the Sony. Thats why I have the G7. But now Im back to DSLR + BMPCC. -

I think anyone who buys in to this post is mmisinformed or naive. Its all classic "taking the easy route" imo. -

Its happening because people want it. They wouldn't fly empty. So if people outside the US didnt buy from B&H they would stop flying. -

B&H: A camera is manufactured in China by a person that needs food and energy. It is flown to America by a plane and pilot and then offloaded by some people who all need energy. It is transported and then packaged into a warehouse in Brooklyn by people and trucks that use energy. After I have placed my order it is transported back to the airport by people and trucks consuming energy. Flown to Sweden by planes and people. Delivered by a truck to my town by trucks and people. I walk to the post and pick it up. Same here, shop locally when I can. And I use one of the smaller online stores that are based in small towns Sweden. Good for the home economy and better for the environment. -
IMO, its the consumers that need to learn how it works. They have done it 4 years in a row. But still we have these never ending amount of posts and threads, "When?", "Im angry!", "If its not here by..", bla bla bla It will ship when its done and all there is to do is wait or buy something else. Bumping or starting threads like this wont make shipp any faster or make Blackmagic change their way. Its the price we pay for the best image produced by a CMOS in the world
-
But you decided to bump an almost 1 month old thread about it shipping because.....

Mobile Phone Camera vs Prosumer and Professional Cameras

Billboards doesnt require a very good picture since its viewed from such a distance. -
In the Osiris pack there is a Rec to Log that ive had pretty good results with. Usually I use it with something like a natural style thats not been completly flattened. On my A7 I mostly used the 5D profile in Filmconvert.

Lighting up shadows is pretty much what I use it for. But you cant push very far. -

I got Raw for the first time in a phone a year or two ago. And it is good for making minor adjustments to bring life into bland phone pics. But it does in no way, shape or form compete even with jpegs from a full frame dslr. -
Someone said there where only static shots. The biggest problem imo when shooting handheld is the ois. I wish it could be turned of. It wouldn't be a problem to handhold such a wide lens but the moving sensor makes everything woble. In this video there is plenty of handheld footage. It starts roughly at 2:30. Colors from those city shots are really nice imo.

Only company in the world thats ever wowed me with demo footage or pics are blackmagic. I learned a long time ago not to judge gear until Ive used it and that my preference is just mine. Just because I dont understand/like a product I dont go all mad about it. Recent example is the a7rii. You wont find me in any threads talking it down even though I was sceptical from day one and today cant think of one single reason to buy one. Because I get that others do, and thats all good.

No I havent tested any personaly. But I can do that after the weekend. In the meantime there are plenty of gh4 c-Mount examples on youtube.
-
same as gh4, almost s16.

Yeah, 3x crop with ML or 4K mode on a g7 and of course a bmpcc would be options.

Oh something new and people are immediately negative... Thats a first
