Why the DJI Osmo is actually a 4K raw Micro Four Thirds camera
Mattias Burling replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Hope it handles the aded weight or a speedbooster + lens. -
As a journalist I can tell you they got it just right.
-
Dont know much about the camera, but some about the lens. Not a fan of the 24-105 look, its just to sharp. Even this picture shot with Fuji iso200 film looks less filmic than most lenses But if you like the more clean look its great with a nice range and good stabilisation.

I shoot 25p and does so in 305mbps. I can choose 205 to save space but don't The difference isn't totally obvious but I can imagine if one peeps on a semi fast pan over lots of leaves in the wind or something like that.

And of course Tugela who is a NX1 shooter has first hand experiense with 4K downsampled from 6K showing moire. But he would never admit it

You have been able record past 29min without it? Normally its for tax purposes to avoid the camera being classed as a video camera. -
For me this point would carry a lot of weight.

For people wondering how its works as an event RnG type of camera. This coverage from the Canon Expo was also shot on the XC10.

Only problem is that Tugela have gone through great lengts on another forum to explain that the EBU assessment are using the wrong method. And that he has a much more accurate way of meassuring than the BBC. Of course its all based on arm chair evaluation

Stop being a troll and just answer the questions you keep dodging. Lots of talk but every time you get called out you run away scared. Its all pretty lame and at this point nothing but spam.

So a guy posted a video from the FS5 that he says he tried on a Sony tour in Italy. The video was quickly deleted. I had time to see it. Another fellow who you might recognize had downloaded it and posted it on youtube. My guess its gone soon so have a peak. BTW, here is the original posters comment from Vimeo. "I used a sample unit of this little, great camera for only two hours, during the weekend stop of the FS5 Italian Tour (thanks to my beautiful daughter Marta for the precious help). It's really very light (800 g. body only); I tried it with the Ronin M and with the very cheap Sony 16mm. f/2.8 pancake. No editing. Filmed in S-Log 2. Graded in 20 min. in Premiere CC 2015 Music: The Sailor / The Album Leaf Many thanks to Sony Europe and Sony Italy"

Mac app to resample GH4 8 bit 4:2:0 to 10 bit 4:4:4
Mattias Burling replied to Thomas Worth's topic in Cameras
The XC10 is already 422 so maybe not as much to gain. -
The semi sleep is the biggest deal for sure. Other than that there are small things like not being able to assign the punch in. The peaking is really really bad. And its got quite a crop, makes it almost compete with the bmpcc. And it wouldnt win that battle imo. But maybe I can get by it. Because over all its really nice and very light. ISO 1600 could be fun but the LG wouldnt cope and the XC10 would still be 100% clean so no competition really. I first thought about a lowlight and hooking up my shotgun for a sound test as well but same thing there. XC10 would simply crush them. And it should given the price. Comon misstake.

No it was 1. XC10 2. Phone 3. G7 If you look at the side by side of the tree you can see the house in the background blown out on all but the XC10. But with that said, the G7s Dynamic Range is much better than I thought it would be. To bad Im not really getting along with it, hopefully I will get used to it because its a really small and nifty backup camera.

See what I did there? Any who, lots of blah blah about smartphones beating "real" cameras. IMO no camera on the planet is better than another. A smartphone easily beats an Alexa. The Alexa kills the GH4. And a GH4 is much better than a smartphone. It all depends on who, where, when and at what cost. Still, shootouts are fun. Don't have an iPhone but my LG shoots 200Mbps. My G7 was shooting Cine-D. The XC10 was rocking C-log. Had two misses with the ND in the video and haven't even tried to match them in post.

Guess we werent watching the same video.

Test Grading Fuji Eterna 8673 - Give me your opinion ;)
Mattias Burling replied to Wild Ranger's topic in Cameras
you can still buy it if you hurry upp -
whatever Ed did before I would love to learn. His grades are always top notch. Btw, one of my favorite graders, specially when it comes to skin has always been Kholi. I know he isnt on speaking terms with Andrew but no need to close the thread imo.

Test Grading Fuji Eterna 8673 - Give me your opinion ;)
Mattias Burling replied to Wild Ranger's topic in Cameras
Such a shame Eterna is no more. But there are still some in stock and I have 900ft in my freezer :-) -
But the problem is that people that are happy about it will be attacked. Just like you do now to iPhone users that are happy about getting 4k. It's not like they didn't know it existed in other phones. It's just that they liked the phone they had. And now when they have 4k, they are happy about it. I just never understood this phenomenon that happens all the time with smartphones, cameras, cars, computers, you name it. People get attacked for liking their new car by people upsetting some other car already had the same features. ..... ? It's just so weird to me that you react in this way.

I sometimes hide the fact that I use Android together with windows phone since Android users tend to be so fanatic and almost like a cult. And I guess thats why the iphone gets so much hate for not being first with 4k. Same thing will happen if the 5Div gets 4k. It will be endless battles about how Red, BMD, Panasonic and Sony already did it.

Touch screen on a Blackmagic is much faster than using the buttons. The batteries are much cheaper and better than most other solutions and its great not having to boy a plate for V-Mount like you must on most other cameras out there.
