Havent used it much yet. Its like a lx100 with interchangeable lenses.
Would love to, for the first time, see a video shot in daylight that supports this.
Much better than the gh4. Its imo 12 usable stops given that the Blackmagic has 13 (which I use as my personal bench mark). So in my experience it has the same DR as the c100 and D16. Atleast a stop more than the a7s. And again more than the gh4. I have a g7 so I can do a comparing shot.
Its the meauserement of how much you can see from the darkest shadow (black) to the lightest highligt (white). If you have 1 stop you have black, grey and white. If you have 2 stop you have black, dark grey, light grey, white. (its not exactly like this but imo it illustrates the point.)
But isn't it easier to just buy the kit? For me 5D Raw compared to Blackmagic was just a huge pain with a big loss in image quality and Dynamic Range. I'm never going to use it again. But that's just me. If one isn't used to BMD and Bolex Raw it might be worth it.
15 is 15 and 5 is 5, nothing to confuse. A Blackmagic Cinema Camera shooting at iso800 has 13 stops. A Canon c100 shooting at iso 800 has 12 stops. Its not an equivalent, its one camera having a wider DR than the other.
Yup, I feel the XC10 lived up to the 12 stops. Comparing my experience with the 13 stop Blackmagics and 12 stops C100, D16, and BMPC. And in the same interview the thing about Canon not exaggerating DR. So Im looking forward to more c300ii footage.
DR is always funny. Imo Canon and Blackmagic often live upp to their claims. Sony always dissapoints and the others doesnt seem to want to talk about it.
This might not be much of a test but at least its the same settings and same distance. Click for high res. Panasonic 4K, Standard PP, f5.6, 1/50, ISO800. Canon 4K, Standard PP, f5.6, 1/59, ISO800.
