Personally I do it so the image will more closely resemble what my eyes see. If I look at a bird in real life it doesn't have harsh, black edges. Highlight have gradient and tonality and aren't sharp edged either.

My finders fee is very reasonable Today I was a little to late on a NX1 + 16-50/2.0-2.8 + Battery Grip. Bought in may. Asking price: $1200

It's all a bit regional as well. In Sweden Sony or Panasonic drops so fast it's scary. People aren't using them. And the NX1 is just crazy. Canon on the other hand... A used t2i still holds over 50% of its last retail. After all these year's. I bought my Gh3 two months after release for 50% but a 5dmkiii... You're looking at premium prices unless the display is cracked or something. Its as simple as a long tradition of Canon. They opened a service center in Sweden a long long time ago and that was it. Same with Sega Vs Nintendo. The later opened an office here for Scandinavian NES releases and that was it.

New lens days are the best days A MIR-11 so I can get close ups with my Bayonet K3 as well as my M42 Model. Won't cover the "s16" gate but still worth it for the focus distance.
-
it will lose more than $1000 for some. Or at least I would have no trouble picking one up for $1000 less in just a couple of months. Now I know, that's not the general price or what most will loose. But it is the "risk".
-
Im with you. A used price is at any given moment maximum 70% of current retail. Find a guy that needs the money and its 50%.
-
Exactly, not getting the Mini is probably a better way to cure GAS.
-
On the A7ii I say its really good. Would guess its similar on the A7rii.
-
Here is the f2.8. Cant remember if its in APS-C but its A7 (HD frame). And this is not unscrewed
-
Its not a Macro but the m42 Jena 35mm f2.8 has a close focus of almost nothing, the ND bumps the subject if I have the Xume adapters on. Since its m42 you can also unscrew it and get closer (works on your 50mm as well). On my 10mm C-Mount I can unscrew and literally have the subject touching the glass.
-
Thats very good to know, might pick one up. My Lexar is great and offloads very fast but pricy.
-
It is a good price. The lens is sweet! Very low contrast and kind to colors compared to some of my vintage 50mm. Love the wide but short design as well. What mount was it? (mine was $12)

Its a skill to be honest. Know where to look, how to look and have a neck for negotiations And most of all, constently look. Not just every day, all day. People don't see the best deals because they sell quickly
-
I found a used 1dc for $2600 today. If I was buying a large frame 4k shooter today I would have a tough time passing on that over the a7rii. (Im having a hard time passing even if I'm not looking for any new camera )

Canon's new $30,000 video camera does only 1080p

I know but the point of the post you quoted was, Stop caring about specs and gas, get something that works -

yes, the most skilled shooters love bad gear. Nothing makes them happier than worrying about gear that break. Because they are so skilled they feel a lack of challenge or excitement unless their stuff has really buggy firmware and dodgy build quality. That's why all the big names in Hollywood use Magic Lantern, under performing SD cards, fourth party batteries. Ok I'll stop Really skilled people want stuff that's good enough but works. Because they want to shot. -
Arri Alexa 65: Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation

no idea, I would guess Aaton or Arri but that's a bit much for owning imo. that's like buying a C500 in the Digital world. Would probably be atleast $2000. -

Not to mention prices on cameras. The latest and greatest people are talking about is $3000. If one instead where to keep the current camera. That $3000 would give a K3 plus 40 rolls of bought, developed and scanned 16mm Kodak Vision. IF you buy them 4 at a time. Buy 40 at once and you get it much cheaper. Then one can use the "old" camera for youtube, gigs and what not. And shoot that special project, short film, sisters wedding or what have you on actual film. That was atleast my thinking when the a7rii was announced. I thought "man $3000, I might as well start to shoot film". That also helped me to decide when needing a camcorder. No need for it to be cinematic or "film look". The film has plenty of that I'm waiting on the first batch from the labb. After that there will be some videos including a guide on how to shot film for free, yes free. -
The Revenge Of The Moire Shootout (14 Cameras)

but it does see through so it's good enough -
Did lots of lens tests today during our morning walk. Haven't edited, will probably use it for a review. But I puled some frame grabs. Closest Focus at 24 mm (20 cm) Closest Focus at 240 mm (50 cm) 240mm Lets you keep distance (but of course less background). "Shallow" depth of field 24 mm f2.8 "Shallow"depth of field 80ish mm f4.0 "Shallow" depth of field 240mm f5.6

Got the WiFi going so I could instagram from the XC10. It's OK imo. I use mainly film for stills or my full frame A7ii. But if I'm out with the XC10 and see something worth capturing it will do fine. For journalistic work it's well beyond good enough.
-
Still haven't had time to shoot anything for more than 30 min. Hopefully next week. So I took it for a quick run when I went to the store. Wanted to see how the XC10 worked under really bright conditions in C-Log using just the built in ND. The C-Log has a base of ISO500. No highlights where blown when making this video.

The Revenge Of The Moire Shootout (14 Cameras)
Mattias Burling replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
Yeah I read all that and got the a6000. Other than high iso the Nex5t was just as good or sometimes better. So I returned it. -
The opening shot looked really really good imo.Very filmic (atleast on my tablet). Nice and soft but with details. I would have graded to match that shot.
-
Today I realized I had footage from 14 different cameras at the "Building of Moire". And the last version of the video had 7, so every seventh it is Now the Test includes: Sony NEX5t Sony a6000 Sony FS100 Sony AX100 Sony A7 Sony A7ii Panasonic LX100 Panasonic HMC151 Panasonic GM1 Canon XC10 Blackmagic Pocket Blackmagic 4K Production Digital Bolex Samsung NX1
