Thanks, dog says thanks to I think the rolling shutter is what it is and wouldn't get my hopes up that they will fix it.
-
If you're interested I did a test with the NX1, LX100 and the Production Camera.
-
Probably best to wait, perfect camera should be just around the corner
-
Yeah, because we all now that it's numbers on paper that matters. That's why the c100 is the mist unused and hated camera out there.. oh wait.
-
Haven't tried the h5.
-
One could argue that people found the super cheap gm1 the best since it scored similar to the bmpcc and beat it in the detailed shot. But I agree, blackmagic is good stuff.
-
In the NX1 user group on FB I've seen loads of cool pics from it.
-
Ha ha, no. It's a bit much as it would be a b-cam. But if the right project surfaces it might change.
-
The h2n is a good mic, I had it once. But its not suitable for filmmakers with its formfactor and no XLRs. It's great for interviews, round tables, music and such.
-
It is probably the one piece of equipment that has caused the most dissapointed threads on forums. It is poorly constructed and it's amps are about as strong as the BMPCCs. To get any sort of good audio you need a really sensitive mic. I could write pages about it but so many has already so it's best to thoroughly research before a purchase.
-
I would go g6. You can get it for less than half the cost of a gh3 plus it has peaking.
-
It's 8-bit 422.

Wow, long post, but good stuff It's all about cost and use. No point in putting good audio in a cinema camera since an external recorder will be better in every single way. I always record important audio externally no matter how good the audio in the camera is. If nothing else just to not having cables hanging of the camera. In a run n gun situation it might be different and for that there are plenty of options like fs100 or c100 and D16 or URSA as "cinema hybrids". A few experiences from me of the gear you mention, the h4n sucks and I would never touch it. Also I don't think the Rode Video Mic Pro is any good, much better of with an H1. Outside of work it's a bit of a hobby of mine to shoot good video at low cost. But having spent most of my years working in radio my view of audio is that there is good, usable or crap. Nothing else. That's why a gh4+mke600 and a pocket+h1+mke600 is the same imo. Usable but not good.
-
I also think it could be a killer camera. Have said it since day one. Cant say for sure until I've tested. It's in stock an hour away from me and it's very tempting
-
I think it's good enough for ambient coupled with external for dialog. And also with a small juiced link it becomes very usable, as showed in "The One". But all in all you right, bmpcc, bmcc, A7s, 5dmkiii, gh4 and so on all need external recording for clean dialog. If it ain't got xlr, don't botter imo

Did a test at home just to get a reference and thought I share the results. Cameras: BMPCC, D16 Mics: Electro Voice 635A, Sennheiser MKE600, Zoom H1 The BMPCC needs lots of gain in post as expected, the D16 does not.

Dude, you bumped this thread just to show you didn't care for what a guy did on the Internet? That's hilarious, you are the most attention seeking a-hole there ever was. This whole post is stupid and I am now dumber for reading it. Now someone can write the same to me

You are so f....ng talented it's freaky.

Got this tiny but solid Pentax C-mount today. Think it might be a bit of an underrated gem. Mainly for its close infinity.
-
Had a quick play with different grades and my C-Mount Zeiss 25mm f1.4 that Im selling.
-
Thats the thing with consumer cameras like the A7s, compromise. One just have to decide what negatives one can live with. Is it the pour low light of the gh4, the lack of slowmo in the Blackmagic or the mega jello of the A7s. Not even Blackmagic can get the price down under $4-5k if one wants it all.
-
They are pretty similar. The A7 is of course full frame but the FS100 has way less moire and rolling shutter.
-
I've had both the A7 and the FS100. If having to choose one of them today I would let size be the factor. Do I want a small camera or a fully featured one. Here is a shootout I did but I have reviewed the A7 as well.

Sony has gone internal-4K crazy: A7RII, RX1004, RX10II

Imo Global Shutter is the key. Then you can move the camera freely and it all looks good instead of weird. No need for IS or IBIS. I will never buy an A-cam without it again. Took me one day with the bmpc to make that decision -
I'm clearing out some gear to make room for new. Selling a BMPCC with 7 batteries as well as three Zeiss Jena Primes. The 10mm f2.0 that's a little stiff but usable. The 16mm f1.8 that's instead a bit loose. The 25mm f1.4 that has a dust spot inside that does not show up in footage. All three is fitted with Tevidon to C-mount adapters for infinity focus on m4/3. Also I have a Bmpcc which is in great shape apart from the common jumpy HDMI. If gently pushed it delivers image to my EVF so one could probably lock it in a cage. (I have a video showcasing if interested) Lenses: $550 + Shipping Camera: $500 + Shipping The Lot: $1000 + Free Shipping I also have a really nice Zacuto Top Handle with extra rod clamp, perfect for a mic. It also includes a Z-Rail for mounting it on pretty much any cage. Price: $50
