  1. I made two more scenes mainly because the score is so even and I wanted to ad a shot with more details, motion and a closeup. The scenes are called 4 and 5. I totally get it if you don't feel like looking at more boring footage but its ok, I don't blame you. The statistics will be pretty much the same anyway even if its just the "youtubers" answering. Thank you all that have answered so far. /Mattias
  2. I hear what youre saying. But you dont know the settings, cameras or reason to why Ive done the way I have nor the way they have been processed or why. It will all be explained but one must remember, I made this test because "I" wanted to know something. In the meantime, thank you so much for the great and thorough input
  3. Definitely its just that if I ask to much people wont write anything. But your right I also would love to hear why, what display was used or pretty much anything extra, thanks (and guesses of what cameras was used is always fun.)
  4. Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it. Have over 50 replies after just a few hours with very even scores. So I might do one more with exterior or something to see if that has any impact.
  5. I got a bit inspired by Ed and decided to make a test in order to answer a few questions and was hoping for some help. What I'm trying to answer is what type of images appeal to what type of people online. Therefor I'm posting this on various forums and ask my friends and such in order to get everything from fellow producers, to enthusiasts, pro shooters and all the way to people that couldn't care less about cameras. As a bonus I'm looking to see what type of people notice artifacts, what people think about different grades, lights, movement and so on. So in Part 1 I'm simply recording a selfie while I'm chewing gum (yes its boring like nothing else). If you feel like helping out I would appreciate it. To clarify, I rather know which you liked best in each scene/look than which one you liked best over all. I will post the result from the votes here in a few days or so. Thanks, Mattias
  6. I might get it for the noise reduction. I have neat video but I also bought a PC to use side by side with my Mac. And I'm not allowed to migrate Neat Video without paying. It doesn't cost €350 but then again, I plan on getting Resolve for free by selling the camera. I also recommend two screens. I use an external monitor to a laptop. So the laptop screen carries scopes and such. And the external 27" has the entire interface. Dual screen mode is cool but doesn't work so well for me since my big monitor is 1080p and the laptop is 4K.
  7. Yeah you can get a dongle for as little as 3-350€. I see BMCCs pop up from time to time for $1000. Think Im gonna buy one take the dongle and sell it again.
  8. Agreed. Ive been sticking to After Effects for Raw since its easy to use and spits out edit friendly Prores in BMDFilm that I then edit like normal in Premiere. All good and well. But now when it looks like Resolve 12 might be able to replace both Premiere and AE its a no brainer. Ive been playing with the editing features of R11 last few weeks and most things I need are there already. And the best part is that CC is a subscription. So when a project arrives that needs After Effects, client require a PP project or what ever, I just buy a month. Good times.
  9. Here's how I see it, This is where they make money. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products In every broadcast studio or mobile I've visited recently there has always been at least one BMD Product in the racks. And their model of using as unified parts as possible is smart not only for keeping cost down but also it its easy to recognize and create a brand. That's why their buttons, displays, connections and such look the same across all the products. I spoke to a rep that said that they where in fact the worlds biggest customer of many components. Much bigger than Canon, Sony and even Samsung because they use the same in all products and that its the key to keeping cost down (I suspect this is one reason for the audio inputs on the BMCC and obviously why the BMOC looks identical). So the reason for example the Video Assist to be so low cost is because they could bulk buy the parts. I haven't seen it but I bet the screen for example is found either on one of the URSAs or a scope or something in their line up. Same with connections, SD card reader from the pocket and so on. And if people start editing in Resolve eventually they might get tempted to try raw, want more DR or higher bitrate. And then there isn't that many cameras to choose from. 90% of them will choose a BMD camera. For me Raw vs compressed video is what I imagine Heroin is like compared to alcohol. Tuff to get the same fix. I have a Bolex and love it to death but I've had 5 BMD cameras and if I needed a big crew camera, eng camera or drone camera the choice would be BMD 100% of the time. (Unless Bolex did a new camera but that might be asking to much from a small company.)
  10. No what's missing is noice reduction and 3d. The rest is in both light and full.
  11. Well the control board is $25 000 or something like that. They sell mixers, complete broadcast trucks, cameras, a recorder, EVFs, capture cards etc etc. Resolve is just an application to tie it all together.
  12. I'm exited as well! This is the reason besides free updates that I was very happy when Adobe turned subscription. Now I can skip a month and try to rely on Resolve only. And if it's good enough I don't loose all the money CS used to cost.
  13. Thanks I balanced it, used a BMD Lut and reduced the saturation. One node only.
  14. Another perk with an EVF is of course the extra Point of Contact for handheld.
  15. Me personally I would get the bmpcc. It's easier to get going with a g7 but I would jump pretty much through any hoop to get the image from a cinema camera. And a camera like a g7 quickly drops in price where I live so I can buy one for $200 within a year. No feature narrative in the pipe now. I'm finishing up a documentary that I hope will get broadcast and am in the planing process of the next. But I will hopefully shoot a feature documentary soon, have some ideas but need to further develop them. As always work gets in the way.
  16. No sound thats correct. You would have to externaly record audio and synk it visualy to a clap. But imo the raw on the eos-m is just to much hassle. Its not as easy as with a pocket and the resolution is low. Regular good old fashion Canon AVCHD is good enough. Its a shame because I love Raw and its the only codec I currently use.
  17. It all depends on budget and needs of course but I recently whent the EVF route instead. I figured a 4" screen is good enough as a 5" and with the loupe down its huge due to the magnification. Found a used but near mint Alphatron for €650. + good build, Sony battery (have loads), decent res, iris, Waveform, False Color, Peaking, multiple Zebra patterns, both SDI and HDMI with loop through. - A little chunky, price.
  18. You could easily get one for $500. But not by browsing ebay unless you are very lucky. Best way imo and what I did is to place a wanted ad on a forum or other local place and just say what you want and what you're willing to pay There is always someone in the need to sell stuff. Same with all cameras and lenses. That's why I go used. Even a new camera like for example a a7ii can be had for almost half if bought used.
  19. You could buy a used one. I just bought one in mint condition with 7 batteries and a cheap Panasonic lens (didn't even ask which one) for 50% of the pockets current retail price. Also now when a brand new BMCC MFT is $1800 here the used prices on those are dropping fast. I have an offer of $1200 including a dock and an SSD. And when the URSA mini and Micro comes out it will be even better times for us that likes to buy used
  20. Of course they havent, why would they? Just watched it. And I thought it was fun.
