Canon EOS R full frame mirrorless talk hots up

Definitely. The 50/1.8 is a must buy for any Canon owner imo. I kept it even when I've had the 50mm f1.4 and the 50mm f1.2 L. Its cheap as well as small and light. A perfect backup lens. -

My 50mm f1.8 STM is very quick on my G80 compared to for example the 85mm USM. Wouldn't surprise me if it rang true on the R as well. BTW, the camera is still in stock in my hometown as well as the big retailers. But in the store I ordered from.. not so much EDIT: Just watched the full length of Gordons video. They ISO is definitely a step up from my 6Dmkii... looks really good imo. -
Nikon Z7 is at EOSHD HQ - better video than Sony?
Mattias Burling replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Probably the same way they did with medium format for Sony. EDIT: It seems you are confusing how it works. The short flange is what makes all kind of adapters possible. Not limiting it. The point of the adapter is to fill the space outside the mount. Not inside. Kipon told me they will have at least 20 adapter models for the new mounts and many more to come. -

Imo, AF for video isn't invented yet All kidding aside, I have never tried any AF (including DPAF) thats as fast, smooth and accurate as good old MF, even without peaking. Which if we are honest sometimes is more a miss than hit compared to a crisp screen.. -

Same here, it usually doesn't take much for me to abandon a camera. And the more expensive it is the more sensitive I get about it. The 35mm is in my sights as well. When adapting EF to other systems I notice substantial differences depending on camera and lens combinations. So I assume it will vary on the R as well. -

The Raw file from Fro taken with the 35/1.8 was very impressive imo. Tack sharp. -

That sound a little more reassuring since Im a single/center point guy, never even tried anything else on most of the cameras I've had. Regarding the Z, if I had a bunch of Nikon glass it would have been no question. For me the glass I have dictates the camera. I've switched my lens lineup many times before and its just to time consuming. In the trade deal I did I got $5 less than I paid for my 6Dmkii brand new!! So I can always buy one again of the R doesn't work out. Should be an easy sell. -
Here its £430 on the white market after cash back Great bang for the buck. One of my favorite Instagramers use it almost exclusively and gets mind blowning results. BTW, Anyone heard any release date and price on the Sigma 70-200 in E-mount?

Just got confirmation from Kipon that they will make Speedboosters for both Z and R -

I don't intend to use AF for video on any camera. But for stills it doesn't sound good at all. Thats where the AF has to be good for me. So far adapting my EF lenses to Sony, m4/3 and Fuji with or without speedbooster have been.. meh. Maybe I will have to stick to DSLRs as A-cam for a few more generations. -

Tamron, if allowed, could change everything. Their 70-200 G2 is a marvelous piece of glass. -

The appeal lens wise of Canikon for me compared to Sony and in some respects Fuji, is affordable tele glass available today. The price of the 70-200/2.8 GM stands for 33% of the reasons why I'm not calling my dealer and changing my order from the R to a A7iii asap. -

Had a play with the Z7 and EOS-R raw files that Fro shared. Both deliver very capable files, but we knew that already. The image quality of the Z 35mm f1.8 is really, really nice imo. Hopefully the R 35mm IS will be similar. -

I could, and would most likely get one from my local store that always have the latest and the obscurest but no online store There is just one huge snag in that plan.. I was offered a trade deal that was to good to pass up at another place. Plus they had an additional 15% weekend sale on everything in the store... so I will have to wait... Hopefully it gets here soon so I don't go nuts from stalking it on Instagram. EDIT: Just checked the largest camera store chain and they have +20 in stock, spread out in the country. So its out there if one wants one ASAP. -

So today is release day. I have probably a 0% chance of getting in on the first batch. Anyone with a preorder that has received a shipping confirmation? -
Also if one puts 60p on a 25p timeline the clip can only be used for slowmo. Real time will look like crap. Imo its a waste of creative options in post for a margialy slower slowmo that almost no-one would notice. But the jerkines of 60p in real time on a 25p timeline is very noticeable.

Why the camera press need to grow a pair of balls

And lets not forget Sony's Las Vegas adventure. Its everywhere. Food for thought: What if the latest online hate storms and video attacks will make reviewers on the next Sony adventure or Canon resort hold back. So in order to not be accused of being to positive they will fake negativity instead? Will we then ever know the truth? I have in the past been suspicious about some negative reviews, by the channels that also sell cameras. It sometimes feel like they throw a couple of safe models under the bus. Maybe.. if one is fond of conspiracies, to seem credible for top sellers. Just a fun conspiracy theory But in the end its not easy. I buy all the cameras I review but is still constantly accused of being paid or whatever. And affiliate links... thats $10/month tops for me. No exactly worth it. Plus I always tell people to buy used. -

On a Gimbal I can understand for sure. Even though I usually set a distance if its possible. I'm not a fan of gimbals so it is very rare for me. I've used it once for an interview just to try it, worked fine. Will test with the EOS-R next time (if I get it in time). -

Sorry, thought you meant for stills. Personally I would never use AF for video. Even om my DPAF 6Dmkii its MF only for me. Faster and more accurate. -

Mirrorless always have and maybe even always will be slower than a DSLR. Specially a beast like the 1DXii. -
I don't understand why camera tests should be "fair". Its strange to me. Its like the popular "everything else equal". It never is

That sounds bad. On the 6Dmkii there is no warp what so ever. Are you using it in 4K? Thinking if the RS is a contributor.
