Ive had a couple of cameras with vents. The BMCC, BMPC4K, D16, Red-1 and XC-10. None of them have given me any issues with it. The BMCC and BMPC4K also had the vents close to the tripod plate but it was fine (btw, I still suspect this is a BMCCii thats been renamed). No one can guarantee that it will work just as good on this camera, but I wouldn't worry about it if the camera ticks your other boxes.

I liked A and C.

Ahh, good move

If I was shooting 4K I would probably feel the same thing. I intend to use the 4K as a x1.7-3.7 variable teleconverter in HD timelines. @Django do you know if one can setup switching between HD and 4K on a custom button, my menu, etc?

Double post.

I totally get that and agree. For casual shooting I prefer a GR, Polaroid, Medium Format film, you name it. I don't shoot much casual video and if I did I would probably stick to BMD. My interest in the EOS-R is 75% professionall. On a weekly basis actually. Fast shutter speeds, low light and flash/lights are banned One of the biggest selling points for me is not having to do either of those things. On the R you just press record (according to the reviews I've seen). It ticks more boxes and has less annoying deal breakers than the current competition, for my needs. I totally get why some would pick an X-T3 or A7iii over it. But for my needs that wouldn't make much sense.

No video is a big part of it. I will use it for video at work and probably sell my X-H1. But I get your point. If I only wanted video I would get something else. Probably a C100ii.

If only the competition could release a camera that could match the specs of the EOS-R so I wouldn't have to settle for the poor ergonomics

I used digital IS on the 6D all the time. Loved it and if its just as good or better on the EOS-R I will continue to use it. BTW, saw some people confirming that their dealers had received their first batches. I preordered quite late so I'm probably far from first in line. Hopefully Canon has more muscle in the production chain than Nikon and BMD. -

Did you get to test the audio? -
It is a really good video camera but that's beside the point. I was just pointing out how the 7Dii and D500 doesn't point to Canikon not caring about APS-C. D500 is the most high end APS-C camera out there surpassing many FFs cameras. It makes more sense to compare it to the 1Dxii and D5 over the GH5/G9. And even if this is a video forum these are first and foremost in still cameras. Ignoring that would of course lead to loads of conclusions.

I love some patina and battle scars on my gear.

I probably could. But thats not my job. Usually I hire people to make the videos at work. But sometimes we do it in house. Then I need to deliver every time. With only available light as well as crisp audio. For full days of shooting. Both stills and video. A smartphone is just too time consuming, limiting and straight up annoying for me. A good hybrid gets me where I need to be. I'm sure plenty of people love shooting with smartphones and creates wonderful things. But I don't. And that's ok.

Sounds great. If you get the opportunity it would be nice to see some samples. -
I don't know... the D500..

I don't know. The 7Dmkii and not to mention the D500 seems like they have received a lot of love.

Liar. I said that some didnt care. But what ever, I care so little about your opinion of me that its not even funny. This thread is probably dead in the water until the camera is released so I will leave it until it is. I suggest you do the same and film some "students" or what ever you crazy crackers are calling it. -

You are the most sensitive little Farang I have ever come across. And I think you are a bit of a coward when editing your post like that. You know as well as I that that wasn't your original post. But two can play at that game Unlike you I dont believe that my needs and wants apply to every one and everything. -

I love 10-bit. -
First impressions of the Kipon Baveyes EF-FX Speedbooster. The image looks nice but its to dark to really tell. Will test more tomorrow. Build quality is excellent. AF speed is like most adapters, ok but not as fast as native lenses or using the EFs on a Canon. Strangely the 85mm was faster than the 50mm. On all my others adapters it's been the other way around. Like I said, its pitch black here. ISO through the roof and with an 85mm at "f1.2" the DOF is very shallow. I have raised the dogs face 5 stops. Long story short, peeping this image is pointless.

ISO doesn't change unless you accidentally left it in auto. I wonder if he did that or maybe even left the DR setting in auto? I've never tested either settings so I don't know what it would look like.
