  1. I miss my XC-10. Might buy one again if my X-H1 doesn't work out as a handheld/scenery b-cam. (just wished the 120p was a little cleaner.)
  2. Some log profiles look great in 8-bit and crap in 10-bit. Some log profiles look great in 10-bit and crap in 8-bit. One has to test the gear one have to determine wether or not 8-bit is even an issue to be concerned about.
  3. Fuji lenses are absolutely fantastic, I love them, for stills. For video they are mediocre imo because the MF is sketchy and often drifts. They are quite pricy as well. So my melody is to get a trinity +/- a lens or two as a base for stills. And then buy MF lenses and/or adapt for video.
  4. Im expecting delivery of the Kipon Baveyes 0.7x AF on Tuesday (If the estimated date was accurate that is.)
  5. I agree, the G9 is a few tweaks from the perfect hybrid. I don't care about much of the stuff people ask for. A little extra bitrate or a new log profile isn't as important to me as things like Canons way seamless stills to video switch, Panasonics ability to take stills with the mechanical shutter during recording or Fujis "dual menus" for video and stills. These are the type of things I really want. Marketing specs is just icing on the cake. Panasonic usually delivers both. Thats why a FF from them gets me very, very excited. Yup, I just tried to give the fast version
  6. Takes a series of images and moves the sensor using the ibis in-between. Then the camera stitches them together. Available on many cameras from various brands. The subject needs to be still like architecture or a landscape. Great for product photography.
  7. Ive seen it for $1000 or just above once or twice but the timing wasn't perfect. BTW, Im even more interested in one after a video shoot at work today. Had both the X-H1 and the soft HD shooting 6Dmkii with me. The light was very low so I used the Canon with the digital stabilization instead of the real IBIS in the Fuji. And Im glad I did. It looks great. Super sharp and 100% artifact free? Nope. But just nice and clean with great flattering skin colors under weird indoor lights and great bokeh? Yup
  8. This just keeps looking better and better. Of all the cameras released this year this is definitely the one Im most curious about. I didn't care much about the hype of the others, they all seem like great cameras but expected, just upgrades of already available stuff. This feels like something new. Im getting a bit of the same feeling like when the BMCC was announced. It feels fresh.
  9. Ahh, that might be why. I stoped turning things down in pictures profiles a few years back since in my experience it does more harm than it helps. Imo, it feels like a leftover from the early DSLR-video days.
  10. Ok, must be rare or only in certain situations then. Because I've shot every which ways, many times in iso1600-6400 and it hasn't happen. Will run some tests with weird exposures to see if I can provoke it. Only way to deal with things like that imo is to understand and avoid it, otherwise we couldn't buy any cameras at all
  11. I will keep that in mind and remember to convert any M50 footage I encounter.
  12. I couldn't care less about AF in video but fingers crossed on good AF in dim lightning for stills.
  13. Exactly how would I go about getting the wax skin thing? I've shot Fuji for a couple of years and never encountered it. Never even heard of it outside Dave Dougdales A7s video. Do I need to mess up the exposure or something? Would be useful to know when it happens so one can plan for it.
  14. Its a very sluggish codec to edit. I suggest you download some clips and try it first.
  15. Of course, even the camera itself still need testing before I actually know how it is. But given the info that is out there today as well as how "native adapters" have worked in the past for Canon, Sony-A, etc there is a good chance the performance will be up to the task. Adapting to Sony-E, M4/3 and Fuji from other systems is fine for video imo. And with some combinations for stills as well. But its not reliable enough across the board for me to want to take a chance on it for work. I have a photo session in about 15min and have both the X-H1 + EF adapter and my 6Dmkii with me. The adapter has been pretty good, excellent with some lenses. But there is no way Im using it unless I have to or when I already have what I need stored in the 6D. And the 6D has only 1 SD-slot. Still Im choosing it as a safer option over the 2-slot Fuji. Dont want to risk loosing the shots on the Fuji due to a faulty adapter. Pretty ironic
  16. X-H1. Or did you mean before? If so Sony A7.
  17. Just saying that Sony doesn't offer enough lenses for me to build a complete set. They have a lot of good once but are still lacking. EF doesn't suffer the same problem. There I can buy not only a set of the 5-6 lenses I need, but also for not even half the cost. Camcorders still rule! Yeah that Panasonic is still to unknown to rank imo. But the latest rumors are very interesting.
  18. If Sigma makes a FF Foveon I will send them all my money.
  19. I would have gone all Sony if they had got their lenses together. I love the A7 line but without a complete set its not usable outside enthusiasts shooting for me. Now there are options so even if they did announce a bunch of new glass it might not be enough. Since I haven't tried it I can't say for sure, and I won't order until I have tested it, but from what is known today the EOS-R gives me the most features, specs and bang/$. Plus what looks to be a really nice image. Having to choose between Sony, Canon, Nikon and soon Panasonic as a FF mirrorless B-Cam to a DSLR is definitely a luxury problem we didn't face just a few weeks ago. Good times.
  20. Not the Fuji version no. But I have used other Kipon models and where happy with them. I will hopefully be able to give info on it next week, expected delivery on Tuesday. But I don't set my clock after ebay shipping estimates if you know what I mean.
  21. For me begin able to use EF lenses with great performance and not pseudo preformance like adapted for Sony/Fuji/Pana is a huge deal. Adapters that dont work 100% are almost not worth it.
  22. More DR in = more DR out. 15 stops capured shows more DR than 8 stops captured on a 5 stop screen.
  23. This is starting to look very interesting. Affordable AF glass for a used Leica SL complemented with M-lenses sounds so freaking tasty.
  24. Image quality wise I agree about the 16mm. But eventually I had to let it go. I kept using the tiny 18mm which is much faster and doesn't drift in manual focus. But you will probably be quite blown away by the IQ when it nails focus. Another extremely underated fuji lens is the 27mm. Coupled with the 18 on an X-E3 you have quiet a complete and compact kit. On the bigger X-T3 they might be a bit more odd.
  25. I don't have a 35/1.4. I just posted that video as an example. From the tests I've seen the Viltrox is on par with the Fringer but for a lot less money. Im running some tests tonight to decide on keeping the XH1 or not. If I keep it I will order an EF-XF speedbooster as well.
