  1. I wasn't paying much attention to the Z6. It looked fantastic, epic really, so I figured people would love it and there would be plenty of reviews that could help me form an opinion without buying it. That took a turn So I was planning on buying one. But the lens lineup of this thing looks so tasty. And I already have a nice set of affordable EF primes... Luckily none of them are available for quite some time and I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my 6Dmkii. So I can keep my mind off it until this winter. Can't see any reason to replace it my DSLR as of now. And since I'm predominantly a Sony/Fuji shooter Im surprised of the really nice feeling when working with a Canon again, which speak for the EOS-R.
  2. If the rumored price is true, they are going to sell so many of these its not even funny.
  3. Mine has been easy to set up and worked as expected for the most part. But during one shoot the footage came out very jittery. I recalibrated it manually and everything was fine again. Very interested to hear that others have experienced the same thing. Doesn't sound very reassuring.
  4. They already have put 4K in mirrorless as well as DSLRs.
  5. They probably wouldn't, my post wasn't about the RF, I was going of topic a bit with my own thoughts.
  6. Regular EF lenses are lighting fast with DPAF so for me they can stick with EF.
  7. I love the detail without excessive sharpness. The internally downsampled HD that rivals most if not all consumer 4K. The colors. The global shutter. The s35. No moire and no IR pollution. The ISO is what it is, Ive used in on doc shoots and once I did run into a situation where it was unusable since it was very dark and we couldn't control the lights. We also didn't have an sub f2.8 lenses at the time. But then we just broke out the backup cam.
  8. I did a little poll with my possibly impossible but still, imo, interesting suggestion. +1100 votes with 70% thinking it sounds cool. What if Canon just added a built in optional EVF and called it a day? First let me say that Im pro mirrorless. I use both extensively as anyone that follows me know. And we are taking about Fullframe here, leave Fuji and MFT out of it. In general lenses doesnt get smaller with mirrorless, they get bigger. Its just laws of physics, they just ad extra length to make up for the shorter flange. Unless they have a smaller sensor and/or slower aperture. (They can somewhat get around it with software correction.) So there really isn't any size difference in fullframe worth mentioning once you put on exotic glass. And often it just gets unbalanced in my personal opinion. Ibis, instant focus in liveview with burst and no blackout, peaking, etc, all that exists in similar sized DSLRs today. The only thing really missing is an EVF. Which at the end of the day is just a "pretend" viewfinder, a tiny screen in a hole. I'm thinking something pop-up, like in the X-Pro2/x100f. Then you have a true hybrid with the benefits of both systems like the DSLRs extremely fast AF and OVF, even in dim light. Also, then they can simply keep the EF mount which have exotic f1.2 lenses already. Just a thought, not even sure if its possible
  9. A guy that gets coughed stealing other photographers photos and passing them on as his own and that makes three part "reviews" the same afternoon as he receives a camera. I don't know if I find that all that reliable. But ok for arguments sake, if Ken is in fact 100% correct and his advice is good. Then that means that the A7iii is the worst camera made and no one should ever buy it. Personally I believe thats incorrect, I think the A7iii is a fine camera.
  10. I know what you mean. I get GAS every seasonal change. In a couple of weeks I will need a jacket for 7 months which means pocket camera Fingers crossed on the GRiii at Photokina.
  11. I sold my 1DC to go back to ML Raw in the 5Dmkiii. So imo you are already set @mercer
  12. Im with you. It will be unpopular, adapters are annoying and c-log is boss. I imported some old xc10 footage into final cut yesterday, just to see how it is since it got supported. Ten minutes later I was browsing 5Dmkiv adds
  13. FF mirrorless with an EF mount is somewhat interesting. But then they could just make a pop-up EVF like the X-Pro2 and call it a day. Besides an EVF the only reason to have a mirrorless imo is smaller lenses (if slower, with equal lenses there is no real size advantage to mirrorless). In other words, ad a hybrid viewfinder and mirrorless is kinda obsolete. Provocative thought, I know. But its not far fetched any more. Instant focus in live view, ibis, peaking, all of it is available in similar sized DSLRs already. Only thing missing is the EVF.
  14. No EF. And lets agree to disagree on the sensor, I love it
  15. That's what I said, they could make one just because.
  16. The more I think about a fullframe Canon mirrorless the more I think they should sit out a couple of more years. It doesn't make much sense for them to make one imo, besides making one just because.
  17. I've bought and sold 7 bmpcc since the fire sale so I think its pretty accurate. You gotta know how to negotiate. But thats OT. Lets get back to the bmpcc4k.
  18. Ive found an Ursa Major (does anyone even remember it ), asking price is bellow a Fuji X-H1 A lot of camera for the money, both in size and performance.
  19. Im not sure if I have seen the UMP. But I have seen the UM4.6K for very reasonable pricing. Also tempting, but I have a soft spot for the BMCC/BMPC4K size and simplicity.
  20. Super fast primes lets in more light. And light is definitely not a buzzword. Quite the opposite, the only word that really matters
  21. Im first in the preorder line at a big retailer. But I honestly might cancel it. Not because the camera doesn't seem great, it does. Its just that the original BMCC, BMPCC, URSAmini etc are dropping and I suspect will dropp even more when the new one is out. Take the original BMPCC as an example. To this day it never recovered on the used market since the fire sale. Since then its always been sub $500 with accessories. Often good stuff like a couple of lenses and/or speed booster. Since the new announcement Ive seen them all the way down to $350 with accessories. Long story short, I have a bunch of Canon and Nikon glass which makes the original BMCC or my favourite, the BMPC4K look more and more tasty for every dollar it drops (Im also very intrigued by the Nikon-Z and might not be able to resist.)
  22. The BMPC4K is one of the few cameras to beat the "building of moire", so I would have been very surprised if it was a big issue on this camera.
  23. I have no idea if it was, wasn't referring to any specific video (haven't even watched ut yet). I was just remebering when Hook released a music video from the BMPC4K which turned out to be "just" HD. Myself I only used it in HD unless I wanted raw. Saw no need to downsample in post when the camera did it just as good if not better.
  24. In the BMPC4K the internally downsampled HD looked just as good if not better than 4K downsampled in post. I suspect the same will apply to the BMPCC4K (or BMCCmkii as I view it )
