  1. Yeah the x2.8 crop of academy award winner "The Hurt Locker" and the hugely popular TV-show "Scrubs" seems very usable indee...
  2. As a creator I never see the need to analyze or quantify what I like and dont like. Imo Mojo isn't just some fluff word. Its a feature. I know when I see it and I definitely know when I dont. But just like everything within art its subjective. There is no point in trying to transfer it to someone elses eyes. They have to figure it out for them selves. Some like high resolution others hate it. Nothing wrong or right about it. I often get the feeling that it scares certain people. Some people are afraid to stick their neck out and say, "I like this and thats ok". They rather have a group behind them validating their opinion (thats how the fanboy wars begin). Or they take comfort in numbers (enter the spec warriors). I could show examples and go into detail why I think one image has more mojo than another. But I rather not. Because a great artists once said, "The problem with people that don't understand art is that they are trying to understand it". I try to live by that rule. (Ps. Im not talking about anyone particular. Just in general.)
  3. More often than not Mojo in cameras are exclusive to stills imo. My guess its because my stills are raw or film. Some non-raw video definitely have mojo to my eyes, but its rarer.
  4. And he said the same thing about another Sony which turned out to be less true for some people. Im always a bit aware about the earliest reviews done in a day or a week. I like to wait until people like Marten or PB have used it for at least a month or so. But I agree , he does a good job and Ive followed him since the NX1.
  5. I just had a look at what my local store is asking and I see a winner. An entery level DSLR that only costs $40 more than the previously cheapest model they had. A 24mp APS-C camera with everything you need to take stunning photos. Ad the cheap nifty-fifty to hit the street running. And you get a Canon, the brand everyone you know has, with the sense of security that brings. This thing is gonna fly of the shelves. Btw, earlier people where upset about a plastic mount but all I see is metal. Did it change or maybe the store just uses an older pic just to have something?
  6. Im surprised so many call it overpriced, all the stores I've seen are listing it very cheap.
  7. The cameras with the most mojo Ive had have all been low cost and much cheaper relative to the new releases. So it absolutley isnt a correlation between mojo and price imo.
  8. 1) Several. And its not so much the camera imo as the camera and lens combination. 2) Sensor and lens combination. So it includes sharpness/lack of sharpness, colours, rolloff, DR, sensor texture, curve, rendition, etc and so forth. 3) Very little and it requires to much work imo. Better to get it right in camera. (All of the above is imo and according to my experience.)
  9. If you ever for some weird and unforseen reason should want to sell it, let me know... so jealous.
  10. Here for example the Fuji X-H1 leaves money for a brand new premium lens compared to the Sonys body only. But that's beside my original point.
  11. Yeah I don't see 4K being mandatory for quite some time.
  12. And thats for creating content for Netflix in 4K. To aired on netflix is another deal. A great feature Ive watched more than once on netflix was shot on in good old HD with a 5Dmkii, standard video. And it looks fantastic.
  13. No its not bad. It is market value. Its just that market value has gone up at the rate of specs the last few years. So the "cheap DSLR revolution" isn't exactly around anymore. This cost about the same as a pro video camera did back when the revolution started. We started using cheaper cameras and then started asking for more features in them, features from the expensive cameras. And the companies gave it to us, the prices to And it sometimes seems like we still think we are using cheap cameras just because they are hybrids or still cameras. But in reality plenty of pro video and cinema cameras are cheaper these days. Just thinking out loud.
  14. I have bought it three times so I feel that I have a pretty good idea. What people ask isn't necessarily what some of us pay (depending on where you live of course). My example wasn't estimates, its what I've paid or been offered to buy for. And I didn't even include the primes that always was part of the deals
  15. Thats a shame, it was a really nifty feature.
  16. For me the only real downside to it is price. When the A7 was new I thought a lot of the appeal was the low price compared to a 5D or other Fullframe available at the time. And since then I have raved about the A7 in several reviews since its now easily obtainable for $500. I didnt care for the A7ii I had (didn't love my A7sii either). So when looking at this camera which Im sure is marvellous for plenty of occasions and type of shooting I can't help but to start comparing prices. For less money than the A7iii is currently listed for, body only, I can instead buy: A brand new Sony A6500 + A7 + 35mm f2.8 A brand new Sony A6500 + a used Canon C100 A used Samsung NX1 plus the two S-zooms + a used A7 + a used BMPCC And so on. Again, not hating on the camera. Not saying its not worth it. Just saying. Looking at the A7/A7ii/A7iii, GH3/4/5 or even RX100/ii/ii/iv/v the prices are definitely rising with the number of specs introduced. For professional use I get by just fine with a few generations old. An for enthusiast fun projects I personally think its a bit steep. But if you are heavily invested in the system, are freelancing or operate under your own business, etc I definitely see the appeal. Looking forward to seeing the A7siii.
  17. If you dont feel like hacking you can just buy a Sigma foveon that shoots video. But you won't get 720p
  18. 99 times out of 100 the purple grid disappears when you full screen the original image. Just like the BMPCC. I have only seen it on size compressed windows or in screen grabs. Never after exporting and full screen, then it magically dissapears. I wasn't even aware that Fuji officially ever acknowledged the issue. Which firmware update did they mention it?
  19. If you are on a Mac you can download any stream natively in Safari. Or at least you could the last time I did a few years ago. Cant remember the command for it but Im sure someone else remembers it.
  20. Yes. Thats exactly what is allowed. But you didn't live by that standard. You ridiculed people's personal opinions and tried to push your own opinions as facts. If thats not a fanboy its at least the closest thing to it in my book. And please stop dragging me into this conversation. Im done since long ago, you made my ignore list same day as I encouraged you to use it on me. But like I said earlier, I will check in and I will react to cheap shots.
  21. It was just an attempt to calm things down and explain the post he quoted so it wouldn't escalade and drag jp into it further. Had I known he was so sensitive and would go in such a never ending flame war, post polls about other people when they don't want to debate him.. then I wouldn't have bothered.
  22. Look back in the threads and you will find it, I said it to your face but in a more diplomatic fashion. Like I said in that PM, I stand by my words. You where a complete fanboy and you ridiculed anyone that didn't blindly follow your views. I have not changed my mind about this. And I agree, a new thread without this fanboy trolling from left and right, trying to flame people to stay in a dead conversation.. its just a mess.
