I had the D750, loved it. But Im starting to lean towards my D500. I almost traded it for a DF or D750 after a while. But now... I think its a keeper.

Am I An Idiot??? (Going From D750 to a6500...)
Mattias Burling replied to Mark Romero 2's topic in Cameras
Well if that something you need then it is. I almost never do post zooms. Hate them. And I can do it with HD. No one can tell. I have yet to ever "need" 4k. Webb, TV-commercials, you name it. I could honesly use 720p and it would be fine. Have a look at the d500 if you like Nikon and need 4K. And no, the crop isn't a big deal imo (I would almost go as far as calling it a bonus). -

Just for the heck of it and added confusion I will suggest the D500. Im so far very happy. A baby D5. -

The DR is better on the Nikon for both stills and video. The color is of course personal taste, I dig Nikon more. Other than that its a classic mirrorless vs DSLR and FF vs APSC imo. -
Yup, it even touched bellow $400 new. Problem is that our used prices seems way lower than alot of places. Im having the same issues trying to recommend when people ask with a price in mind. Lucky for us Then, again, the prices are high in those places because people keep paying..

Could it be because you have your screen brightness on medium or something from the start? What happens if you put it on maximum and then record? Ive had the A7sii but can't remember any such issue.

New Panasonic G9 - multiaspect sensor?
Mattias Burling replied to Marcio Kabke Pinheiro's topic in Cameras
I know more people that would choose the G9 than the GH5. If asked I would most likely recommend going with the G9. The GH3 was my first mirrorless camera. I liked it. It was in fact the first camera I reviewed. Since then Ive owned a couple of other m4/3 cameras. All decent. The GH4 was a bit bla bla for me. So is the GH5 for my needs. Would never buy one. The G9 on the other hand is one camera I would consider for some things. But Im currently very happy after making the switch from mirrorless. So it will have to wait until it have done what all Panasonics does around here.. plummet in price like house of cards in a hurricane. -
No the video is gone. I got super curious when two people say it looks great and one throws a total tantrum. Must have been a special video.

Plus, you see things like space left on the card with the camera turned off. -
So, my Canon 1DC seems to have just bricked on me.

Bummer. Don't remember reflecting on it while owning the 1DC. -

You can't remap the pixels yourself? Even my compact cameras have that feature. And definitely my DSLR. -
Sure, but does it have an intermediate codec.. http://www.newsshooter.com/2017/11/08/sharp-announces-super-35-8k-cmos-sensor-60p-camcorder-8c-b60a/ 1. World’s first camcorder integrating capabilities for video shooting and recording, playback, and line output for 8K (60p). 2. Compatible with 8K (60p) shooting thanks to a large, Super 35-mm-equivalent CMOS image sensor with 33 million pixels. 3. Realizes 4:2:2 sampling*6 and 10-bit recording of 8K (60p) images. A compression method that exerts low burden on the CPU makes editing more efficient and allows approximately 40 minutes of continuous recording (when using 2TB SSD pack). 4. Real-time output of uncompressed 8K (60P) images can be performed simultaneously with recording (equipped with quad-link 12G-SDI output terminal), making possible live 8K transmissions and replay output after recording. 5. Built-in SSD back slot for recording media. Realizes one-person operation at 8K shooting with V-mount battery drive.

I have a base model MBP, a couple years old. No problem editing Sony 4K. Specially since switching to Final Cut. Never going back to Premiere. At work Im forced to but I'm working on changing that.

I have had the Sigma 18-35/1.8 for a while. As a shooter who prefer prime lenses its simply amazing. Very happy. So... naturally I started thinking if I maybe made a mistake buying the Tamron 70-200/2.8 G2 over the Sigma 50-100/1.8. The Tamrom is awesome, highly recommend it. Truly great. Still... I knew I could get every single penny back on the Tamron since I found it with a major discount. And the local store had a used Sigma. So I went to check it out. And I don't know if it was faith or if the seller knew that dogs are a big part of my photography (both at home and professionally). But all of a sudden this little guy was sitting in the store in front of me. Nedless to say, after reviewing the files I went back and bought it. So now I have 18mm all the way to 100mm f1.8 with only two lenses.

New Panasonic G9 - multiaspect sensor?
Mattias Burling replied to Marcio Kabke Pinheiro's topic in Cameras
But not for a stills shooter, and thats the point. And I dont really agree that the Fujis are that different. I can definitely see how this is a similar concept. Some variations but reusing alot of components to cover a wider target audience. Just like the Alpha line. Look at around 03:50. At least for me he puts it into words in a good way. Personally I always change settings without looking at the back lcd or viewfinder. It would be an absolute pain to always have to. -

I haven't watched the whole thing but very early the man from Panasonic drops "wildlife and sports". -

Yup, its like the Fuji X-Pro2/X-T2 and X-T20/XE3. Pretty much the same cameras with slight variations for different shooters. We never had this discussion about the A7/r/s. -

Here lays the misunderstanding. "A little better", "top display looks pro", "a little faster", etc. For a full time stills shooter these are huge features. Flat out deal breakers. Remember, your needs aren't rarely everyone else's. -

Viewing it as it was intended, a stills camera, then it makes perfect sense. Im in the camp that wouldn't care if my stills camera didn't have any sort of video all together. -
Not really. It would be pretty easy to rent it out for someone who knew what they where doing.
-
What is the weight of it? I bought a used but very nice fluid head for the Red One + Rig and it certainly wasn't $5K. It wasn't even $500. But still, you will need to spend some cash. Unless you get it all included. My guess is that you still can get some back on renting the camera out as well. At least around here where rental places are almost nonexistent.

This I don't buy at all. The reason they haven't hacked for example the 1DC is because they don't know how. Without a firmware update file they don't know where to start. I'm willing to bet that it is the same reason the 5Div isn't hacked. No one knows how.
