Addressing some of the myths around Sony a6300-MINI a7sII??!??
Mattias Burling replied to flip21's topic in Cameras
1) The NX1 looks higher res at least to my eye, so does the GX80. 3) Ive never seen moire in any of them. The rest sounds about right. -
FCPX 10.4 with better color correction tools!
Mattias Burling replied to Don Kotlos's topic in Cameras
But... just going by the pictures... some of it is already in there and the rest can be had with finale But I'm also excited. Love FCPX, never looked back from ditching Premiere. -
The correct way to expose for SLOG3 when using 8bit cameras
Mattias Burling replied to kidzrevil's topic in Cameras
No I have never noticed any in your footage, it looks great. -
You where talking video? Dude, thats 8mp. You dont needt to update your Canon L or Nikkor FX glass to get the extra detail. They can handle it. For stills. If I put for example my Sigma Art lens on a 20mp and then a 46mp I will be able to see the extra detail. My point is. Stop worrying about the specs. Get nice glass and use it. Ignore the marketing BS.

The correct way to expose for SLOG3 when using 8bit cameras

My problem with slog3 was never the grading. It was the banding which is there in camera and after. Nothing to do about it really. And I wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the A7sii I had costing more than my complete Red package, a RX1rii + bmpcc combo, way more than a Leica Q and even more than my complete DSLR setup including great glass that I use today. If the camera was cheap.. then it would be ok imo. -
Who said anything about sharpness. And if we where talking sharpness its subjective anyway. And btw, ive used way sharper lenses than that sigma. But it doesn't matter. People can believe and buy whatever they like. Im not gonna debate some marketing bogus saying that my Tamron works on 40mp but not 41mp because it doesn't have the extra resolving power.. give me a break. They just want to sell lenses.
-
I dont buy any of the resolving power talk. Marketing...
-
Bummer Luckily the GRii is good for a couple of more years.
-
You didn't read my post, I said "nice sharpness" So no, iq is not measurable. Not even sharpness.
-
Snap focus? Tell me more (have been wishing for that feature in other than Ricoh cameras for years.)
-
Since you have no power over what type of sharpness I like that statement becomes false.
-
Image quality and sharpness is subjective. You can't measure and say camera x did better than y. Its just your personal feelings.

Picked up the Sigma 18-35/1.8. I don't know why it took me so long to get this modern classic lens. I always knew I would love it. Ive always viewed it as a Tri-Sumilux for APS-C.
-
This actually isnt new. They ditched the non R and S version when releasing the RX1rii. There is no RX1ii. I forgot the reason but remember thinking it made sense.
-
To bad dxo marks haw zero to do with image quality and how nice the sharpness is.
-
Personally I would choose the c100 mark 1 over an fs5 any day.
-
That's just Nikon trying to sell you modern lenses.
-
Used its not more expensive than a D850, A9 or what the A7iii will be with a decent lens.
-
Yeah right. Don't even go there. It will be better at some things and much much worse at some. Two different type of cameras for different shooters. One is a DSLR for crying out loud. Some will love it and others hate it. There is no camera that shits all over another camera. Thats just silly. Personally I still see the first generation of A7/r/s as the ones to get. Much better ergo for my hands.
-
Why, they have never done that before, why would they start now?
-
People upset about no updated video features.. what did you expect? The s-model cant be news to you?
-
I sold my 1DC for a 5Dmkiii. So I too would go for the D850 with a D500/7500/5500/bmpcc backup. The Tokina is sweet. I used to have the 11-16 back in the t3i days. Tomorrow Im finally getting the 18-35/1.8

Used the Tamron 70-200/2.8 G2 for the first time today. Im very satisfied with everything accept the weight, but thats a trade for the amount of glass and new build.
-
I actually have been negotiating with a guy about the f1.2 version but he is blinded by what some are willing to pay on ebay. Im a black belt in flee market search so I will take my sweet time. Nikon is in a moment 22. All their old glass works but is really expensive compared to other mounts. And all the other mounts that fits even long flanges like Canon cant be used on Nikon. Meanwhile they sell excellent modern glass for their cameras. But not for DX. And the FX lenses are to pricy for DX imo. Which I think push many beginners towards Canon. If it wasn't for Tamron and Sigma I would have a hard time recommending a Nikon DX over a Canon APS-C to a first time buyer.

I guess for video I might rebuy the 35 and 50 f1.4. The old versions, I really liked them the last time. For stills I have a 50mm f1.8. And after a long time debating and testing the Tamron 24-70/2.8 G2 I left the store today with the Tamron 70-200/2.8 G2 (got a great discount at my local shop for being a loyal and returning customer). I might ad a 18-35, 35mm G or most likely a 17-50/2.8. Its a B camera for streets and Im not planing to start using it fully until spring. So I have time to spend way too many hours debating it I probably will review the Tamron at some point but otherwise Fro has a nice review. When such a third party lens sceptic and Nikon FB like he is recomends it... then its probably good stuff. (Also I had the macro version for my BMPC4K and liked it.) Here is a video test I did with the old and cheap Macro version (non is). EDIT: apparently I reviewed it.. forgot about that
