My point is what you have seen, what I have seen and what some dude in a NAB cafeteria says isnt in line with the financial state of the companies. In other words, debating on speculation and feelings is pointless. You just confirmed my point even more by saying you've seen it beeing used. Proving my point that a local observation in one place or one online store isnt evidence enough. It varies to much from place to place. Money talks. No it isn't, look again. If I follow your link and click sort by best sellers the GH5 isnt #2 I was looking here. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Hot-Items-Top-Sellers/ci/19207/N/4102783799

Ok but this means nothing in terms of actual sales. The top 10 on b&h shows 8 DSLRs and two compacts. On Amazon under "Photo/Video" its still of course film (instax, keeps Fuji afloat) on almost all top spots. First digital interchangeable lens camera is a DSLR. If I look at "digital cameras" on Amazon its mostly DSLRs and compacts in the top 50. When I look at one of swedens bigger retailers the GH5 isnt on the list. And its not a price thing. There are several higher priced cameras at the top. The guy at my local store says Fuji is selling nicely. Not like Canikon but still alot. Panasonic isn't as popular. And sadly Olympus is a tough sales for them. Ive never seen a GH5 used by a video crew, TV-team, pro photographer or even by a tourist. So saying that the GH5 is cutting sales from dedicated video cameras like the c100, FS7, etc doesn't ring true to me. In fact, when reading Sony and Panasonics financial reports its pretty obvious they are loosing money on their cameras. If they where selling like hot cakes they might have broken even. Fuji isn't making much either since their film sales finance their digital camera losses. But rumors says that Sony is releasing their first proper and uncensored financial report next year. Then we will know if they are doing better these days. My guess is that they still loose money on every mirrorless interchangeable lens camera they sell.

Final Cut can convert to Prores in the background while editing. -
Any source showing how the GH5 is cutting into others?

Today I played around with the video in the D500 for ten minutes while waiting on a train. I only had a 75mm equivalent and no ND so the footage isn't very fun. The frames are HD so not as knife sharp as the 4K would be. Just wanted something to play with in color finale. There really is room for pretty much any creative look but without taking up any space worth mentioning on the card. These are all just quick adjustments, 2min on each, max. You have to click twice for full resolution, otherwise they will look even softer. Straight from camera Quick adjustment in FCPX using the regular color tool. Random LUT and intentional crushed blacks using the three way color corrector. Quick vintage with Fuji LUT and slight crush of shadows using the three way.

The GH5 isn't a DSLR.. just saying

Shot a 5 second clip from my office chair of the people around me. Used the D500 in HD, Nikon Flat, 50mm f1.8. Imported into FCPX, adjusted the lift, gamma, gain. Added lut. Remembered why I loved the Nikon colors of the D750. It needs almost no work and just looks great. The two people in the clip was both caucasian and a couple of shades darker. Both looked alive and kicking Now Im debating if I should trade for the d750.... but I must say. The AF on the D500.. wow.

I really like the 5Dmkiii, always been a pleasure owning one for a number of reasons. But who made the sensor isn't one of them. I couldn't care less about that.
-
Im sorry but unless someone shows me a moving video with problematic aliasing Im gonna go ahead and say it doesn't exist. Peeping at the studio tool shows me just as much as charts. Nada.
-
The sensor is not made by Sony. Its an Israel based company if I remember correctly. Any aliasing I will guess comes from a non full screen. Regular screen size artifacts. Unless I missed something. Everything I see is aliasing free. Charts dont show image quality so I haven't even looked at those..

Here the bmpcc is $500 used but usually includes stuff like extra batteries, adapters, cage and what not. But that sale was quite the exception.

It would be 90% stills for me and some online video for my employer. But its good to know it swings in the big league as well

I will probably keep it over winter. I'm in the market to buy a DSLR in the start of 2018. Then I might sell it or trade it. Its a great camera. Awesome on the street. But the GR will always be the A-cam so I don't "need" it. I dont care about 4K in a mark iii. I would think getting the HD to the quality of the x100f is enough. Faster AF is always welcomed and better battery. Flash would be lovely as well. They could ad a little more to the thumb rest. I've since my review learned to hold it and never use the thumbs up. The grip is fine. Same here. Almost no one is updating their cameras. They bouht a t3i back in the day and are sticking with it. Mostly using their phones. 90% of all mirrorless cameras on our classifieds are almost mint, sold by first timers who found out photography wasn't their thing. That's why its possible to get the prices even lower. They already have their eyes on something else to try. Wave some money and they accept almost anything. They don't care as long as they get to run and buy the paintball gun or whatever it is they are trying next.

Here the model doesn't matter. Mirrorless is what plummet. I also bought an RX1rii. I paid less than 2/3 of retail, with warranty in a store. Its also marked as discontinued and there is only one left for sale as new in all of Sweden. 50% is easily obtainable. But the RX1 line are special cameras and not the best to compare with. The original RX1 is about $1k. The A7 is less. An a6000 is just a couple of hundred. At the end of the day Panasonic drops worse. My tip regarding the RX1r2... get one if you find one cheap. The video on it is ok, worse than on the x100f which has excellent video. But the lens and tilt screen seals the deal for me for stills. Makes it worth the horrible battery and other downsides. I made a review.

I've been offered a pretty decent deal on a d500 and this thread is making pushing me to pull the trigger

Sonys always drop like stones on the used narket here. So does Panasonic.

Here new Sony models often get a pretty decent discount just a few weeks after release and then it goes up again. I guess they want to sell all the leftovers from the initial stock before returning to just keep one or two on the shelve per store. I still haven't seen the A7sii as low as I paid about a month after release. Its been much more expensive since then.
-
"Strong rumors" is a bit strong. "While I still have no SR5 rumor about what kind of camera we will get ….I got these two new informations you have to take with a grain of salt:" Personally I find it extremely unlikely that its the A7siii. Simply because Sony has never done that before. They have always released the A7 and A7r versions first. But who knows, maybe the are ready to switch mo.

Thumb grips are like lens adapters. You end up with loads of them

I think you misread the first part of my post. I never commented on what you watch. My comments was on the average length of TV shows Sitcoms, reality, news, most of it is sub 30min and almost nothing is over 2 hours. 1 hour shows like Rome etc isnt norm. Thats all I meant.
