  1. My point exactly. One need the tool that suites once needs, not others. For me its all about the image I end up with and the process dictates that way more than specs. I dont care about the LCD because I dont use it. So they could remove it completely for all I care And at the end of the day image quality isn't even measurable either. It to is just a personal taste. Specs does not and will never mean jack.
  2. I get it. Either you adapt to it or not. My DP1 is just as fast as any other camera and actually faster than most due to the excellent manual focus. 1-2 sec from wakeup to fire, max. The LCD doesn't matter to me. My film cameras dont have LCDs and some doesn't even have viewfinders, but I don't let that stop me Its never going to suite everyone. The point of my comment was simply that you shouldn't buy a modern Sigma. Because it doesn't seem to be for you anyway
  3. Every time. It doesn't matter how many new cameras gets released. Every time we have to go through the same debates based on clips like this where some guy is hand holding a long focal length in a store. And people base opinions of the gear from it... instead of trying it first. Or someone sees a promotional video and say "crushed blacks"... And every time we wait a few months and every single commenter changes their minds in silence when they see what actually can be done with the gear. So like every time before my tips are, Promotional videos always crush blacks on purpose. Some dude in a store shooting with the camera attached to a cable isn't a good sample. Wait. Try it first. Promotional pictures are often very mainstream and stock photo looking. Wait. For gods sake wait! There is no rush. A new camera is released again tomorrow
  4. The DP1 is great for street photography. I dont need speed for that as much as I need focus. They are all slow, no need to buy another one. Its just like when shooting film, a Leica T or any other fundamentally different type of camera. You need to "get it". Not try to force the camera into working like a modern DSLR. You need to adapt to it
  5. My Red One had pretty much that for half the cost And its ten years old.
  6. They can skip that two if they want to Its more of a principle thing. I like that some of my cameras dont have video, would never use it anyway. Its like in here where most just use their camera for video but have paid ALOT for the still image functions. I know I have many times in the past. Seems like a waste. But I guess its how it is with many things. Ive not shot a single frame of 4K with the XT20, but loads of HD. Ive never used its audio input. Ive never made use of its jpeg functions. Etc. We always have to pay a little extra for stuff we might not need.
  7. I can somewhat get it. On some cameras I kinda wished they would have just skipped video and reduced cost, give another button function or reduced size. The Leica Q for example and maybe even the X70. Personally I would f..ing love to buy an M10. But its simply way over my budget. And Im perfectly happy with it not having video. My dream camera however would be an MD based on the M10 body.
  8. The Leica M that was released a few years ago shoots video (HD 4:2:2) and has a rangefinder. So no need to wait.
  9. Seems to be an awesome camera. Really pushing the envelope. But we will have to wait and see, since specs doesn't mean jack. Native base of iso 64 is a big deal. As a film shooter I've always hated that most cameras bottoms out at 200 without using expanded.
  10. Well I got the second print today. So I have full body portraits of people printed 1:1 (average 1.8m tall). Several shot on the Sigma DP Quattro and the 30mm kit prime. And one with a Fuji XT2 + 23 or 56mm, I forget which. The Sigma prints looks way better. Not so the Fuji print isn't usable next to it but noticeably better. If you are in Gothenburg this week you can come check them out up close downtown. I can post pictures of them tomorrow.
  11. The colors are nice but imo Canons are nicer. What the "fuji look" is for me is noise that is pretty much Luma only. No matter how hard I push.
  12. I know, that's often the case, sorry about that. But if you look outside of the obvious places you can still find one. Since making the video Ive seen one on ebay with zero bids on starting bid of $80. Also I bought one on a regular classified since then for $80. And it will go down again.
  13. Have spent an hour setting up the X-T20 the way I like it. After having owned a few Fujis there is no learning curve, its all familiar. Grip is of course still to small for a camera that weighs and balances like a DSLR imo. But a few things I didn't know. The f2.8-4 Kit-zoom is a good lens. Not for the money good. Just plain old good. Quick, sharp, well built and the stabilization works great for video. Of course it cant touch the 56mm f1.2 or even play on the same field as my Summilux. But this is a cheap kit-zoom... I'm surprised. Also the AF in the camera it self is way faster than the old X-T10. A noticeable improvement of an already fast camera. Please note that I missed the focus on her eye here (its on the nose), its just a quick snap since she was siting under my desk when I was setting it up. Still looking mighty nice imo for a dim light room. Now Im looking forward to a full week of shooting it almost non stop. Will use the kit-zoom as my only native lens for the project and also an old 50mm Minolta prime with the Kipon close focus adapter.
  14. I can recomend the DP1 and DP2 classics. Not very high res but very nice look from the sensor imo. You can also go for the DSLRs. Just make sure you get one accepted by Lightroom. Only the Quattro line shoots DNG and the Sigma raw from the Merrills aren't accepted. The DP1, DP2, DP1s and a few others work. On the others you need Sigmas editor. ISO 200 is ok. 400 is stretching it. I made videos about rhe DP1 and DP2 as well. With a video sample from the DP1
  15. The DP1 and your DP2 has the best manual focus for zone focus in any premium compact camera Ive ever used. And I own the Leica Q... That's pretty usable imo
  16. Ive started using an X-T20 for work today. Took some stills for webb publishing. But starting next week I hope to shoot quite a bit of video as well. It will be 100% run-n-gun with a travel tripod (mostly as a braise for handheld). I can report back how I like the experience. My thoughts going in is that I prefer the X-Pro2 for both video and stills over the X-T2 and X-T20. And I don't like the size of the X-T20. But I love the sensor and Im since long ago familiar with its output so I can shoot with full confidence and no need to chimp.
  17. I bought mine in Europe. UK retail found through ebay if I remember correctly.
  18. Nice! I bought that to. Great camera as well, same sensor as my DP1. The focus wheel is the best thing ever and all by wire compacts should have it imo.
  19. Yeah I definitely also shoot it cooler. I also tend to shoot a bit wider on the aperture to. Not for DOF to isolate subjects. Its just that it handles colors so well in bokeh that it becomes all misty and gradient.
  20. Ok lets try... (can't believe I've never seen that before, or thought about what it says) How do you like them apples for color and pop? (SD Quattro + 30mm) Black and white with a beat up old m42 junk lens isn't to shabby either
  21. That is already 99% confirmed. Its supposedly called the X-T2s. It will have in body stabilization. Suspect with some digital enhancement, but still cool.
  22. Hey, me too Like I say in the review, The Quattro saved my ass at work when a Nikon DSLR broke un us. I used it to shoot full figure portraits and then print them in 1:1. The quality was great. Tomorrow Im getting one last 1:1 print of a person that another guy shot on a Fuji X-T2. Sooo, I will be able to pixel peep 1.85m tall color prints from both I know, after a certain point the larger the print the less resolution needed. But I also printed some regular A3 size images of the dog at home... boy.. so crisp.. and those fu..ing colors man... For the cutouts I used a vintage flash. Worked great. Result. Excuse the crappy smartphone shot, it doesn't do the prints justice. Big Foveon junkee as well. I love and use my DP1 classic all the time. Again, excuse the quality, my forum picture host sucks ass.
