The Canon C200 is here and its a bomb!
Mattias Burling replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
After using the Canon 4K 4:2:2 8-bit from the xc10 I dont see any need for it to be 10-bit. For that there is Raw. And hopefully Canon is big enough to get a workflow in FCPX similar to Red. Which is just as easy to edit as h.264. Just drag n drop. But with all the flexibility and adjustment tools that Raw offer. I could definitely see myself renting this in the future. And as Im right in the middle of upgrading the equipment at work, this might sway me to go for a Canon DSLR in order to have the lenses ready for it. Hmm.. never researched any of the Canon APS-C DSLRs since my old t3i... guess I know what I will be doing tonight -
The Canon C200 is here and its a bomb!

When the C100 was introduced some 4 years ago it was 52 000 swedish to buy the body only. Today I see them go for as low as 12 000 on the used market. So.. in 2021 a C200 for roughly $2-2500... or maybe even lower with the way the market is going and how saturated it gets. Another effect might be a massive drop in the used prices of rivals like the Ursa, FS5, FS7, LS300, etc. -
4K 10bit, 60p, raw, 120fps HD..... Some will say "Finally Canon bla bla bla" even though they never stopped leading the pack. Late the love, the hate and the fanboy wars begin!

Samsung NX1 vs Fujifilm X-T2 vs Nikon D5500 vs Sony a5100 shootout
Mattias Burling replied to Inazuma's topic in Cameras
Nice tests and interesting results and conclusions. "The grip and button layout of the NX1 is far better. I've always felt the retro styling of Fujifilm were a detriment to their functionality." Depends imo. If you use it for stills, given that they are first and foremost still cameras, then the "retro" controls are far superior in speed and functionality. -
Thats why I use MF, so I don't have to worry
-
Not really, its just a straight rack focus. With a manual lens its easy.
-
You need a firmware file to get started. No such file has ever been released as far as I know. Same with the 1DC.

Don't count Apple (FCPX) out yet .........

My experience also. 4K, RedRaw, h.264, it doesnt matter. A modest Mac eats it all. I have a two year old base model MBP and all is well and smooth I watched a quick introduction, about 20min. Then I could just apply my skills from LR, Davinci, etc. Looove the liibrary peaking thing and having a three way color corrector. Also in my side by side edits next to LR, the files from C1 looks clearly better. Sharper, better colors, more detail, etc. Its night and day. -

Switching from Premiere CC/Resolve to FCPX is the best decision I ever made. Over the last year I must have saved at least six months in editing and render times (Btw, today I downloaded a 30 day trial of Capture One Pro 10. Took me about 20 minutes to realize that it's time to dump Lightroom as well. So, "Buy buy Adobe. Loved you from CS5 to CC but you have lost the mojo.") -
The E-mount is locked and I dont believe for a second that they have licensed it. So.... Also, this company is starting to look like pure vgaporware. No way the reason we never see footage is because its only delivered to High End Chinese Shooters... (Just my 2c)

I seem to recall you more than once bashing the crap out of the GH4 and other cameras in favor for Sony. Are you saying that if you still where, you wouldn't have accepted these results?
-
Used c100 are sub $1700k. Prob solved.

You and me both.

I just dont see how developing a camera that only photographers that shoot fast action sports in pitch black surroundings and can be profitable. Then again, Sony is probably not making a dime from selling the A7sii either. Time will tell.
-
Since its Sony nothing is ever certain. But I would be hugely surprised if they released an A9s. I just don't see any point in doing that.

I use standard on an old gm1 for all my product videos on Youtube. Looks nice imo. Would probably look just as good for landscapes, etc.
-
I love it, gorgeous image and colors. I was taking out some old b-roll for my latest YouTube video the other day. And it wasn't the first time I went, "Wow! Which camera did I shoot this on?" and it turning out to be the XC10.

Here is where you loose me. The face detection is obviously broken. It is not working as it should. The camera tracks the face but doesn't adjust the focus. I believe this is fixable. So if you ask me, every reviewer out there should use it. Again and again. To put heat on Panasonic so they fix it. (Btw, center area is where the subject wont be for 70-90% of all shots. Thats probably the reason why people don't want to settle for it.) They would make way more money if they only talked about the good things. Max's money comes from camera sales...
