At least where I live shooting on film is way cheaper than a Red Weapon. And looks better as well imo. Same with stills. I have to shoot alot of film before I reach the cost of a top end DSLR. And for street shooting with for example a Ricoh GR its only APS-C despite being larger than the smaller full frame film model.

RAW to After Effects to Resolve Workflow?
Mattias Burling replied to John_Harrison's topic in Cameras
Yes, you can reopen acr in AE, forgotten which button though... I think its right click and open basic settings or something like that. When you have figured that out you can export as prores or dnxhd and still have a robust enough video for more grading in Resolve. But why dont you just import the raw directly in Resolve? -
Sweden takes home two wins. The best foreign film and best cinematography for La la land. Hopefully We are also nominated for best music but I dont know anything about it.

I think your right. It will be pretty much like the GH4. A great camera that some love and others feel disappointed. We will then make a little list of features that would turn it into the perfect camera. By the time a new camera with those features arrive we have made a new little list of the next couple of must haves. And so we dance.

My thoughts on the Kipon Medium Format "Speedbooster"
Mattias Burling replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
Stumbled upon a pair of lenses at a local fleemarket today that will be good for comparing to an 80mm with a x0.7 crop (56mm FF). My GF wanted to buy a chair and the seller was asking $20 bucks. I said $25 if she threw in the two Helios 44 - 58mm f2 lenses she had. One silver and one black. Turns out the silver was the 13 bladed version I will of course compare to modern glass as well using the Nikkor 24-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8. And the modern Zeiss prime from earlier. But I thought against other vintage options could be interesting as well. -
Never used it personally but I hear good things. For 5Dmkiii shooting I have always gone for the 24-105/4 and 35/2 combo. A stabilized zoom with more reach and a small prime with IS for sdof and really low light. A good team imo.

Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 VC?

Yeah I was just curuious about the laungage thing. Lately I mostly advice to get the one that looks coolest. All modern cameras are more than good enough for a beginner. But what I always tell them is, "For the love of god buy it used".

Is it possible to put filters in between your camera and lens body?
Mattias Burling replied to Ben J.'s topic in Cameras
This is awesome stuff! Its a poor mans IR converter or a good way to save cash on IR cut. -
Do you think its possible to simply do a firmware update and use an English firmware file?
-
In theory you could stack a Large Format - Medium Format - Fullframe. Or Large Format - Fullframe - BMPCC. And probably some other combinations. The problem I guess is knowing how and having the time EDIT: There is the Medium Format to Leica-M speedbooster. And if Im not mistaken a Leica M - Fuji X coming....

Is there anyone of those you think would be ideal for modifications? Getting a bit interested in this myself. -

No, you wont have any aperture control what so ever. No autofocus either. Canon L lenses need electricity to change aperture. There are electronic adapters so you get auto exposure, autofocus, etc on Sony cameras with Canon lenses. But then I doubt you would want to modify it to contain filters. -

Sorry I wrote the wrong name. I meant ND Throttle. Here is a review I made. There is one for EF to Sony but you wont have electronic aperture control. But you probably modify it and put in a filter of some kind. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1041731-REG/fotodiox_vzlx_thrtl_eos_nex_pro_vizelx_nd_throttle_adpter.html/?gclid=Cj0KEQiA88TFBRDYrOPKuvfY2pIBEiQA97Z8MfRRW0LV1RY5CkGJtN08dRo3DvH10in1LAjukxl6cMAaAvaB8P8HAQ&c3api=2572%2C138045278552 -
Looks like trouble. Try updating the firmware. If that doesn't work, return it.

My thoughts on the Kipon Medium Format "Speedbooster"

I will, the quality of the A7 is good enough to test it. Also I plan on borrowing an A7sii from a colleague. The problem is that I worked over the weekend last week and therefor have spent this week and weekend with my family enjoying the nice winter weather. Taking some photos at the same time is no problem but lugging a tripod and a bunch of lenses and having them waiting for me all the time is less popular I will shoot video the upcoming week and hopefully have the entire review ready next weekend or the week after. I have a trip planned which could give some cool images. Also I wanted to get the Zeiss Jena 80mm at home first so I can compare to the Mamiya 80mm f1.9. I will also do some side by side with my Mamiya film camera to see how they differ. Just bought a new 645 house that included yet another 80mm f1.9 for free -

This has little to do with the adapter but since an A7 or Leica is mandatory for it to work. And people still ask me about the A7 as a stills camera three years after my review of its video features. I thought a quick review could be interesting to some. There is some footage of the Kipon Reducer and samples at the end. -
Imo, even the old Panasonic GM1 in standard without any grading looks pretty plesant. Not like film or anything but nice.

Shooting winter sports - camera recommendations and tips?
Mattias Burling replied to sgreszcz's topic in Cameras
The rx10iii might be a good idea. The super long zoom lets you capture more of the long track per run. And you can get some cool super slowmo shots. Because doesn't a skeleton go insanely fast? -
Totally usable but not as nice as for example Gorilla.

When using adapters there is plenty of room to put in filters. Maybe its easy to modify fir example the lensturbo which has a built in variable ND (and a good one). Was thinking that it already has mounts and such for holding its current filter there would be very little fabrication. Should just be a matter of taking it apart and gettting a filter of the same size. -

On my youtube you will find that I have had an A7 before and made a very positive review. You will also see that I bought the A7ii, A7sii, a6000, a6300, rx100, rx100ii, rx100iv and a Z3. Not exactly a hater imo Its just that Sony does alot of things that makes me question them. And I speak my mind about it. -
With "extinction" do you include the new Zeiss Loxia lenses and the brand new line of Voigtlanders announced only a few days ago? http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/english-specs-three-new-e-mount-lenses-poll/
