  1. I don't think they are a pain to work with at all. The D16 fo example is the least painful professional cinema camera I can think of. The 1DC however was a real pain imo and the 5D was cheaper, easier to work and has imo a better image. Never had any fpn issues with the bmpc4k. The Reds only real flaw is the weight. But Im not weak.
  2. Scandinavian Photo has two demo Sony F3 cameras for sale. They are asking 10k Swedish which isn't much cheaper than the best used deals. But its a store with warranty.
  3. Digital Bolex, BMPC4K , Red One MX are my top pics. Besides film of course. 1DC also fits the budget but I like the 5Dmkiii Raw better.
  4. So saying that the best selling camera model is the best selling camera is according to you "absurd". And you call a non disposable camera, "disposable"... Sorry, once again you lost me and I wont discuss any further with you. Its impossible if you constantly insist on making up your own imaginary rules and guidelines. Its getting old to say the least.
  5. It is imo. But that has nothing to do with sales or gear. Totally different subject for another thread.
  6. Im sure the GH5 will sell well to video shooters. But then they will go down for sure. They need to capture the still shooters. Thats where the money and volume is.
  7. Imo, grain asaide. Digital just cant compete image wise. It cant reproduce the DR, colors and tonality of film. But when trying to do so, raw definitely helps. I just have to watch an old movie from the 90s, 80s, 70s or even 60s. Today's digital just cant touch it. I wish every day that it will be the day when it can.
  8. There you go! They live! I also agree with you that the DL had alot on paper. And I dont believe for a second that the "sensor and processor" has anything to do with sales. Im pretty sure 99 out of 100 that buys a camera doesn't even know they have processors. Let alone if its the latest model or not.
  9. You didn't even read the post you quoted or you didn't try to understand it. Take your pick. The best selling cameras currently are film cameras. But that debate has no place in this thread. Please try not to make this one of your recurring rants and bashings of things you for one reason or another dont like.
  10. Potato, Potato "It didn't go well" is I guess the moral of the story
  11. Exactly! Just look at Sega consoles, Delta Airlines,Trump Entertainment Resort, Enron, WorldCom Inc, General Motors, Lehman Brothers..... From your link "There is no detailed info about the sole digital camera business."
  12. Like I said in the post you quoted, Sony is not the issue. Canon is the issue for Panasonic. And Fuji. And Olympus. BTW, I haven't seen any report that shows Panasonics camera devision. Ive seen the company as a whole, but that can be air conditioners for all I know.
  13. The m4/3 might be doing ok but its still nothing compared to Canon. And Fuji is eating away at their fan base every day. But I do think Panasonic is in more trouble than Olympus. I don't know any Panasonic still shooters. And that's where the real money still is, not in video. But there is currently way to many options compared to people buying cameras. Someone's gotta go.
  14. I agree 100%. Raw video as well. I usualy use the x2 bitrate. x3 keeps freezing on me Yes but to be fair, Sony releases a new camera every hour or so
  15. Its a shame about their action cameras as well. I played a little with them a week ago. They are very nice, awesome build. Definitely cool cameras. But just like everyone else and their mom I bought a Gopro 5 years ago and dont need a new system because of my dog harness, car mount, stick, etc. To late.
  16. Canons mirrorless is imho so underrated its almost not funny. The pictures I get from the original and super cheap EOS M + 22mm are just lovley. With ML its a great street shooter/pocket camera. Its gm1 size with APS-C and a 35mm equivalent and 19mp. Panasony cant touch that. Samsung almost could, but we know how that went. The M3 was also very capable and the M5 seems very legit according to some reviewers who's opinions I trust. Again, talking about stills. No 4K but I could care less about that in a stills camera, image is king for me, not resolution.
  17. Nikons biggest problem I suspect is Canon. Like it or not but Canon easily outsells all the others. With old models. Panasony is bleading money in development without really taking of. Canon can take their sweet time and still stay in the green. Ironically Fuji is kept alive with film. And their Instax film division is currently the best selling cameras. Not best selling film cameras. But all together. Fuji Instax Film cameras outsell Canon. With lesser profit per unit of course. But still...
  18. Its no surprise really imo. When a brand like Blackmagic or such is delayed its understandable. But Nikon... then it sound like trouble. Apparently they took a big hit financially as well. Its a shame, I was hopping for it to be an easy choice instead of the RX100x or LX15. http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/off-brand-news-nikon-cancels-dl-camera-release-releases-worrying-financial-report/ The whole thing has me thinking of something I've been asking myself since before Samsung pulled the plug. Which camera brands will disappear? Because I don't believe for a second that the market is bi enough for all the players currently offering premium and interchangeable lens cameras. I don't think Samsung was the last. My guess is (and this is not based on anything but a feeling) that Pentax will ditch interchangeable and focus on their premium compacts. Panasonic might go down if the GH5 doesn't take off. The m4/3 system all together needs to face Fuji X head on. Sony and Canon I think are safe. Leica is as profitable as ever so no issues there. I guess similar niche companies will make it. What do you guys think? Disclaimer: I know how many of these threads end up so, Speculating is fine and fun, no need to get aggravated and start throwing numbers at each other.
  19. My favorite m4/3 prime is easily the Olympus 17mm f1.8. Razor sharp, quick AF, real manual focus with stops and a scale. Nice size as well.
  20. If you say so. Imo it would have been a non issue if one read the post before answering it. But maybe that's just me.
  21. Yes! Sort of a "They Live" type scenario. But with cameras instead of glasses. Luckily Im out of bubble gum and ready to kick ass.
  22. Thought I would share this just for fun. These days I think most shooters know that the black hole sun problem in some Blackmagic cameras isnt new. For example Arri experiences it as well. And its easy to avoid and even easier to fix in post. Today I experienced a pretty much identical phenomenon on an even older type of sensor... film. These are shot with the ever so lovely and joyful Fuji Packfilm System. FP100 glossy. Its more blue, but still.
  23. Totally doable, Ive seen it happen on other forums many times. Logistically its not a problem, they would still ship individually. And I've also done what you did by emailing. I asked a retailer in Sweden if I could get $500 of on the A7sii because they had earlier had such a discount. They said yes. So these "limited" time discounts aren't ver limited at all.
  24. It can carry pretty heavy cameras. Ive used it with a 1DC, BMPC4K, 5Dmkiii, etc. It could carry a c100, fs5, etc. But yeah, not meant for a Red One MX or Arri Alexa.
