Just a heads up for those who wants to adopt early. It came in stock today in the stores I usually shop from, so I guess its everywhere. As always Im trying hard not to buy. But history of Panasonic dictates that I can easily find it 50% used or new within a couple of months. The G7 dived early to less than 50% of current retail, the gx80/85 was 30% off within two weeks. So the waiting game begins

I think we are still overestimating the importance of video and definitely of cinema cameras. Simple gallup at work. I have about 20 people close to me there. Maybe two of them have an old camcorder and about the same number of Gopros. Zero owns a cinema camera. Every single one of them owns a still camera or even two + a smartphone. Only one of them have ever edited a video outside of work. Some have done videos in there spare time for the christmas party at work, so it doesn't count And thats where I work. I think it would be even less video at a factory or clothing store. If I was Nikon I wouldn't sink a dime in the video business unless I had to. And then the smartphone market would be further up my list. And as far as I can tell the biggest market for video among regular people is for blogs/selfies and action cameras. Thats why weird cameras like the Canon X sells really good. And Nikon did release three dedicated video cameras just a few weeks ago that suits that segment.

How would it be normal when they never done that before? The XA20/25, XA30/35, XF100/105 and XF200/205 have all been available together as the exact same models with only one connection separating them. For Canon to all of a sudden abandon this practice and starting to promote an XX5-Sibling over another would be a first.

By using Zhiyun control cable, Crane-M supports Sony Cams Zoom in and Zoom out System, Photograph, Recording. 3. 360° unlimited rotation under locking mode. Inverted and handheld shooting are available. 4. The flat large area of the four-way rocker, make it easier to control direction and speed precisely. Instead of the traditional five-way joystick, the flat rocker has a more comfortable operating experience. 5. Tool-less mounting system make it possible to complete balance adjustment with 1 minute. 6. Support bluetooth connection. Through remote controller or App you could control camera by the gimbal. 7. Crane-M remains the same technology with Crane, to achieve 32-bit triple-MCU running in parallel at 4k Hz. It's far beyond the reach of other brands. 8. Through the app Zhiyun Camera, you can control zooming in/out, face tracking, video/photo switch etc. These are what you cannot imagine to achieve with other brands. 9. Crane-M has been improved with anti-slide slot added, which will solve axis slide problem and would be more reliable. 10. With 1/4 screw at the bottom, the gimbal is compatible to tripod, car shooting set, rocker, extension rod, etc. -
My Review of the New Zhiyun Crane-M 3-Axis Gimbal
Mattias Burling replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
I would just make my own out of pretty much anything. -
Olympus and Panasonic has a different error margin than for example Blackmagic and Metabones. Therefore mixmatches can sometimes couse issues. If he where to test another copy of the adapter it will probably fit. Buy another one and there might be issues again. This problem was very evident when the bmpcc first came out and some had issues with third part adapters and lenses while others didnt. Ive had plenty of adapters and lenses not fitting perfectly on the BMPCC. Most of the time it was easy to fix. If memory serves me right it is Blackmagic that are to good at machining the mount to exact with not enough room for error. At least this is how I recall it.

I had the CM1, it was a good phone with an awesome camera. Really nice concept. Only reason I switched was because Im in a 100% film fase with stills. I did a review as well.

My Review of the New Zhiyun Crane-M 3-Axis Gimbal
Mattias Burling replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
To heavy Im afraid. Maybe my smallest s8 or an Olympus range finder I found at a fleemarket a few weeks back for some long exposures -
Flexible grading, change WB in post, non destructive color correction to name a few that to me would be very valuable on Sonys weird color issues.

Its not better than raw if one wants the perks of raw that jpeg doesn't offer. Nothing is ever "better", it always depends on needs.

My Review of the New Zhiyun Crane-M 3-Axis Gimbal
Mattias Burling replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
Disclaimer: I did an experimental roll of Kodak Vision converted for C41 today. I seriously underexposed the iso800 film. I than let it sit waaay longer than it should in cold and very very old chemicals that I was planning on taking to the dump tomorrow. So, grainy and instagrami as f..ck. I only had 5 frames left of the roll and was going to just let them go to waste when I saw the gimbal. So here are a few very rough images The Gimbal Very little play for heavy cameras and still keeping the 360 ability. The Remote (optional extra) Love details like the hole where you can store the mounting screw. -
So little love for the old 35mm f1.4. I loved that lens both wide open and closed down. Will probably buy it instantly if I get another Nikon (d760).

My Review of the New Zhiyun Crane-M 3-Axis Gimbal
Mattias Burling replied to Mattias Burling's topic in Cameras
Thanks, I would agree on this being much more suitable for my gm1 than the big one. Not an a7r, the original Crane does that. Some m4/3 cameras sure. Maybe a Em10ii or gx80. But you have to check the weight. Batteries included as well as USB-charger on both. Dont know their names, look like over sized AA, thinner than A. -
This little badboy has been available on the Chinese part of the Zheyun website for some time. And my guess is that it will most likely show up on the english site very soon. Ive had it for a while but was asked to wait until yesterday (at the earliest). Just like the predecessor it is very nicely built and super easy to setup. Unlike last time I actually balanced it before testing. But that was very painless and no need for tools. This is my first setup and test around the house (yes, with the dog ). What separates the ”Crane-M” from the larger ”Crane” is first and foremost the maximum payload. 650g on the M and 1200 on the bigger brother. Other than that Zheyun has been very consistent imo. For me that almost never use such devices it makes more sense to have a smaller version and use it with a speciality camera like the rx100iv. I will do some additional testing and report back after trying the remote, app, etc. My thoughts so far: + Just as good quality as the Crane Works nicely, I mean at 02:50 I floor it down a bumpy hill. Very easy to use Nice and small Can carry a bmpcc - Can obstruct itself Not as powerful Controls could be more featured out of the box Wished the batteries sat side by side
-
Can't see any reason for it not to work.
-
It would be cool, but for me I rather have raw and the perks that come with it as opposed to jpeg compression. Either way, using still sequences for video is a typical feature that I would use once or twice for fun and never again.
-
Finally! Hope its for real this time. The theory of it being out but only to upscale Chinese shooters never sat with me. I think they where in serious trouble. Fingers crossed, again.
-
I had the Zhiyun Crane, good stuff. Right now Im testing an upcoming gimbal from them and they are definitely consistent in regards to quality. Works out of the box with minimal effort. The Zhiyun also has an app, an external remote and cables to trigger various types of cameras as optional extras.

Thats about what mine cost. Bought it on a photo forum. It was the oldest add there, zero interest for such things in Sweden. When I sold it I had the same problem. So I switched the title from 1DC to 1DX/1DC. My phone almost exploded. Felt like every photographer in the world wanted a 1DX but none of them had ever heard of a 1DC. So the camera now lives with a sports shooter. It will never capture a frame of video again. I told him it was a great video camera, he couldn't care less
-
For my personal needs I sold it to go back to the 5Dmkiii. I use a Canon EOS-3 for fast action stills and have a soft spot for raw video
-
It would kill the 80D and GH4 for stills. Check that, murder the 80D and GH4 for stills. Scratch that, kidnap and torture, preform experiments and then make a 4K snuff film of the murder which it sends to the 80D and GH4s families.

Canon XC10 versus Sony RX10 III. The Canon is underrated!
Mattias Burling replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I guess the top one is the xc15 due to the compressed background. Looks like they match up perfectly! -
My guess is that they won't do it mainly because they have no idea how at this point. Same reason why the EOS-M3 never will get ML, it doesn't have the same firmware structure as the original M. It instead shares the software with the Canon compact P&S cameras. With the 1DC there was a rumor that they had been "threatened" by Canon. My guess is that the biggest reason is because there never has been any firmware updates publicly released for the 1DC. So where would they even start. Unless they did some seriously criminal things to get hold of it.
