You are 100% right. I always promote not looking at spec charts and instead trying the gear in real life. Cameras such as the g7 and xc10 delivers way over expectations and some others a bit under. This slider might be the best ever and I shouldn't judge it beforehand. Hope someone here buys it so we can find out

The first part is a lie. Stopp making stuff upp that is obvious you wouldn't know. Its not the first time either. You have no clue to what is my favorite camera. Its like when you based an argument on your interpretation of a guys body language... The second part is you picking cherrys. In the videothe bmpc, lx100, red one, ax100 and many more show the panels just fine without the moire of the nx1. The third part is correct. Many of us have tried to convince people like you for a couple of yers now that compression artifacts isnt the same as moire. Its finally getting through. But sadly, the NX1 has actual dancing and rainbow colored Moire. Not compression artifacts, Moire. Still a great camera though, but that doesn't mean we must blindly defend every aspect of it like brainwashed fanboys. All cameras have deal breaking flaws and talking about them doesnt make the camera any worse.

I dont really feel any need for better AF. The rx100iv was a good camera. Some quirks are always ok but the overheating and sluggishness hinders you from actually recording. And both those issues are still there. The AF wont do you any good if the camera is freezing or burning (or both).

People shouldn't pay attention to forum points. Thats why they got ripped of. I wasnt even aware that there was a point system until someone said I was on the list. I dont even know what triggers the points
-
I said it in my post. I really need a small camera with high DR. The two things I hate about the rx100iv is still in the rx100v. = I see no point in getting the rx100v over the rx100iv.

Can I help you?

I know the used market in Sweden is pretty bananas and we can get really good deals. But this one was so nice I had to share it. If anyone wants me to help out for over seas shipping Im there. It includes a mount and everything! And only €82!!!! Wow! Get it while you can!!! If anyone else comes across any ads where the seller, like this one, clearly is asking for a fair deal please share

Another bummer. Seems like the other of the two major downsides for me in the iv is still there, The Sluggish Operation. https://www.cnet.com/products/sony-rx100-v/preview/ I hate that. Pressing stop and then having to wait what feels like an hour before being able to record again. And its not only that you risk missing the action. For every second you are closing in on the overheat. BTW: I must be mad but Im actually thinking about getting my third rx100iv today. Even though I hate it with every inch of my body. Thats how much I could use a pocketable video camera with a good dynamic range. Tough when they cost more than a almost new and under warranty Samsung NX1 + 18-55 S zoom + 30mm + 60mm Macro. I could also get a raw swinging full frame 5Dmkiii for less. I would think I should be over those kind of psychological pit falls by now. But I guess its only human

Yup, but the NX1 has tons of moire. Lots of other cameras dont get the same level of dancing disco colors. And those arent artifacts. Even the nx500 beats it.
-
Not true. Plenty of detailed cameras that doesn't get a rainbow colored discolight in fine patterns. Its DR and RS isnt even all that bad compared to the competition.
-
With loads of moire that is. Just to mention one issue.
-
Nah, it wasnt ground breaking like the bmcc or anything. But you missed my point completely. My point was, how is what it could have been relevant (especially in a6500 thread) and how could you have any clue of the specs of something that never existed? As of now 10-bit and Ice Cream are roughly equally likely in the NX2. BTW, Almost bought my third NX1 yesterday. Last time I payed for the body and got the S zoom and all the sub 50mm primes for free. This time it only includes the S zoom, 60mm Macro and the 30mm. Not sure its worth the 1h drive though. Back on topic: The price of the a6500 is to thigh imo. Just like the a7sii. On a low budget camera I can accept som bugs and quirks. But not at these prices. It must operate flawlessly. The other brands do it.

Like you say, subjective. And depends on the narative. I mostly like static shots and stiff movement. But in The Hurt Locker the hand held 16mm cameras with long telephoto lenses are just right.

Both yes and no. My gess, Its not a distraction big enough for regular viewers to notice. But a global shutter will make it look "better" and contribute to the viewers experience without them knowing. I mean thats how it is with most things. My family cant say "why" they like a video Ive shot on a Blackmagic over a cheap P&S. They just know they do. And they probably figure its because I used the "expensive" camera. They dont even know words like DR and RS.
-
And 35 stops of DR. And Redcode. And ice cream. Such a shame. ( )
-
Yes, Ive just watched all the episodes of veep (loved it btw) and it has a docu feeling. But the Jello is very distracting from time to time. But like always. Its just me noticing. No one else in the family would ever notice or care. A good example is the Swedish game show "På Spåret" (On Track). In the show they get to see timelapse footage of a train ride and also gets clues to the destination. Needless to say there are loads of jello and leaning poles. Every week its watched by millions (its the #1 show on the biggest channel). And its been on for 19 years. Not once have I heard anybody, anywhere, ever commenting on it. (Of course it probably just started having jello in recent years after the cmos introduction. And its not as distracting due to the fast moving train.)

When did you get your a6500? Can you do a test for over heating and is the banding improved?
-
"Continuous recording is available for approx. 5 minutes. The duration available for shooting may change according to shooting conditions." Sounds like it still over heats. If so, no thanks. Will stear my attention towards the LX15. Its such a shame. I really liked my two rx100iv. At home. As soon as I used it for anything worth while like a vacation I hated its constant over heating and mega sluggish operation that made missing shots unavoidable. A Shame...
-
No over heating, no over heating, way way way faster operation and finally: NO OVER HEATING!
-
I always route for them. Hopefully this time! (Not holding my breath though)

Never heard of a Canon that didn't deliver in practice what they promised on paper. But the exact opposite can be said about pretty much every single Sony (outside cine alta). In fact, Sony is the only brand I can think of that never lives up to its hype. Pretty unique. Panasonic, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Olympus, etc. Their stuff works as planned or have bugs that gets sorted out. Sony sell flat out broken cameras as if they where ok. My prediction is the same as I had about the rx100iv and a6300. Great specs, crap camera. But thats just me. I wont judge it until Ive tested it my self. But statistically it will suck ass

Guess its time to prepare for disappointment.

Im also talking about the free version (I don't think the full version does anything that the free doesn't in this respect). What dimensions in h.264 is it that you are not able to export? I have a memory of having the same issue, still would like to try my old workaround. Cant remember what UHD dimensions that wasn't supported.

For learning Resolve there is an online course on Lynda.com that's very good. Just buy a one month subscription, take the course and then cancel it. I suggest first doing their quick course on scopes, if you don't already know what they do. When taking the Resolve course you can skip downloading the material and working the examples imo. I just looked at the videos. But I guess that depends on the level you where at from the beginning. I had already learned Avid and used it professionally for many years and had been using PP at home for a couple. If you don't feel that comfortable Im sure the examples and material is fine. Do you have an example so I can try? Ive been able to export in pretty much anything I want.

Ive had the full version multiple times since its included with their cameras. Ive always sold it. The free versions is just fine. It runs very smoothly on my girlfriends old, old, old base model MacBook Air and my base model MacBook Pro. Both running Iris graphics, no dedicated. So it wont run on everything, but nothing super required.
