Just a few hours to go before the Panasonic event. But before that Nikon takes the stage. Meanwhile the stock on D750 is very low in Sweden and the DF is discontinued... Might be dreaming here but I will preorder if: There is a D760. Pretty much any improvement of that fantastic camera would be enough. A DF with video. The D750 HD with flat would be enough. Love that retro looking beast. Hoping more for the former. Only problem is that the rumor sites says that they aren't releasing anything big at Photokina. Instead something small. Three action cams. http://nikonrumors.com/2016/09/19/only-three-new-nikon-keymission-action-cameras-will-be-announced-today.aspx/

Should I sell my 5D MKIII and pay the difference for a used 1DC?
Mattias Burling replied to Ty Harper's topic in Cameras
Personally I switched from the 5Dmkiii with Raw to the 1DC. And honestly I was a bit underwhelmed. Its a nice image but not that much better than the ML Raw. And not enough imo to justify the extra cost and lack of video features. Not a fan of the ergonomics either, comfortable grip but annoyingly tall imo. But... I didnt use any of them for stills. If you shoot alot of stills the 1DC is a monster just like the 1DX. I also had the a7sii but again, rather have a 5D. Would choose the 1DC over the a7sii as well. -
Personally I call that regular ware. $200 sounds totally fine. I also buy and sell alot of cameras and wouldn't be to worried about a small scratch. People in the market for a 1dx/c buys for preformance and not so much cosmetics.

Im over spending thousands on phones. I rather buy a one year old phone for next to nothing or a mid range model. My latest is the Huawei Honor8 and it is seriously a lot of phone/dollar.

Im pretty sure I read on YouTube that anchovies are "fake and gay" or was it "just popular because it reminded people of pizzas of yesteryear and that the newer sharper fish was superior."
-
Same old story. If someone doesn't like the same pizza topping as the next guy they are "stupid"...

According to your needs. According to mine the Samsung NX1 couldn't reach the level of the much older and cheaper bmpcc. According to deep sea divers none of them reached the level of the yet even older Gopro. You dont see the "wow" of the Fuji for the same reason I dont see the wow of the GH4. Its simply not for us.
-
Of the top of my head, bigger sensor than the GH4 and a system thats alive compared to the Samsung But all in all its a matter of personal needs and taste. I dont see anything in Samsung that others cant do. We just have different needs.

As of today they dont do it. There is no such license. You can apply for approval by Sony to make lenses for it. No one can see into the future but it doesn't look to bright if you want to make an E-mount camera Mft on the other hand is good to go. The third party mft lenses that are also made for M-mount and E-mount cover APSC/s35 with no vignette on m4/3 APS-C.

Wasnt it a camera a year or so back who advertised the screen bellow the body as good because it maid the vlogger/selfier look more down than up/off camera? Or maybe it was someone recomending to holdit upsidedown, cant remember, just a small bell ringing.

If you at all cared about audio in your videos you would eventually discover that wireless audio is not uncommon at all. Google "lav mics".

Never heard of selfies? Dont forget, this is a stills camera for the average joe. People that use it on other cameras today like it. Thats probably why its added.

I like how the guy towards the end so perfectly put words on why I use film for all my casual still photography. For every roll of film I develop in my kitchen I have learned more than I would from one month from shooting digital. It makes my compositions better, seeing the images better, finding the angles, shadows, highlights. The number of keepers go up. And it also affects my digital video shooting. I see things I didn't use to see. But it also affects my casual video shooting negative since I never do it. Every time I bring a video camera to a family trip or something it gets left in the car. I just see so many things I want on film that video isn't worth it Its also very fun imo to scavenge for old cameras, testing films and chemicals, processing. Its an extension of the hobby. Developing B&W and color can both be done in room temperature these days, with no special equipment. Its more contemplating than work. Developing s8 and s16 motion film isn't to much of a hassle either if one can live with it not being perfect. If one goes for B&W its a walk in the park. 16mm scanners show up from time to time, always for free or a symbolic $50. But I rather send it away for scan or use my camera. Its all for fun imo. In the professional world I can never justify film. Nor would I want to. But I don't do narratives. If I was ever offered to do a feature I would definitely use film. 16mm is way cheaper than renting an Alexa. But its not a dream of mine nor something I steer my career towards, so it will most likely never happen. I am however thinking of doing a good old fashion 16mm documentary with the Fuji stock Im hording.

The subject is still going strong. The video was interesting imo. Personally I use both but I sure know which one I like the best.

"Maye"??? I rest my case. Don't use promos as measuring of new cameras.
-
The gh4 did.
-
Are we ever gonna learn not to use company promos on a highly compressed youtube stream as a measuring of camera performance? Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Sony, all of them look like absolute shit in the promos. Wait for actual users. We are going to have this same discussion when the GH5 and its first crap looking videos show up.
-
Most videographers I know want performance on high ISOs. At least 3200 with perfect performance. Personally Im on the other side, would love iso 25 and 50 in a BMPCC.
-
I used to do that back in the early days of the bmcc, I think Premiere 5.0. But now I rather convert and use Resolve. I have totally dumped adobe for Final Cut. When Ive seen the micro and pocket next to each other I say they are the same size with different shapes. Ad a monitor and the pocket is smaller for sure. Im not sure I would say that the pocket and the bmcc are totally different beasts. I would say they are very very close and can replace one another. Its just a matter of specific needs.
-
Smaller than a bmcc an I guess as big as the pocket would be with equal screen, battery and audio. No need for speedbooster, its already full frame. It can adapt alot of lenses from cheap m42 to C/Y. Price is depending. A used 5Dmkiii costs less than a BM Micro body only. A used with warranty costs less than a Micro + monitor. The only drawbacks to the 5D imo is convertion times. Its not bad, but an extra step. I will probably buy one as well. Have a bmpcc that does everything I need but when the price reaches sub $1k I will pull the trigger. Only $150 to go...

The X-T2 looks like the NX1 in terms of moire. Pretty decent in other words but not 100%. A big part of it is scaling artifacts. Its twice as good in full screen. Colors are great though. Nice base for grading. I think wanting a stills camera is always one of the reasons to get a stills camera. Very few have the video features that's good enough for me personally to ever considering them as a video only camera.
-
5Dmkiii has it all already.
-
does exist a camera that do raw video with those features?
Mattias Burling replied to Dan Wake's topic in Cameras
The 5Dmkiii is dropping fast now. So a 7D is more like a 1/3. But I agree, budget and needs is what decides. If one needs full frame then the 7D is out anyway. And of course the opposite if s35 is once preference. A few questions, does the 7D record raw slowmo? At what resolution can you get continuous? Does it have a 1:1 Crop mode and if so, is it centered? -
But is it really? The only camera imo that has caught up to it in the price range is the 5Dmkiii. Which is an even older camera. Other than that the BMPCC still is the cheapest Raw cinema camera out there (with proper quality HD and unlimited recordning). If one wants a better screen, audio and battery there is the BMCC for just a little more. Sacrificing the size. If one wants slowmo there is the Micro. Again sacrificing the size and price. But then one might as well get the 5Dmkiii. The BMCC definitely has its place but the Micro is, imo, not a good option unless you need it for specific things like drones etc. A pocket version 2 would be cool. Probably needs a fan for slowmo. Not sure if the 2.5K sensor has global shutter ability, if not it cant happen. Its tricky imo to say what they could do. A BMCC with better screen, slowmo etc is the URSA mini. A pocket without the screen and added slowmo is the Micro. A BMPCC with better screen, audio, etc is the BMCC. They seem to have it covered. Cinema, studio, big Ursa, Ursa mini, Pocket, Micro Studio, Recorders, Editor, etc. One thing that's missing is for example highspeed. Like an affordable Phantom type deal. That would be cool. Long way till NAB
