  1. I wish Sony could be that honest. He says "Lets be honest, the camera cant do it". Instead Sony releases god awful Log and 4K in cameras that cant even handle it. I remember my first 4K Sony which was a smartphone and a sign comes up saying "The device will over heat after a little while"..... what??? Then why did you include it? And then they do the same in their real camera.. that costs thousands of dollars... wtf is up with that? Thank god Panasonic are smart enough to keep the specs down to a somewhat functional level. So does Canikon. I would hate for it to be the norm among manufacturers to release cameras with 100 features and the caveat of only 12 actually working. And as mentioned so many times before. That's why Canikon takes it slow, like Apple to name another example. They release stuff that works and works very well instead of a bunch of empty promises. (BTW, the smartphone was the same phone that according to Sony was "waterproof". Not water resistant but "Waterproof". And they encouraged you to use it for under water photos... yea bad idea. It leaked and Sony gave no explanation, they just stopped marketing it as waterproof.)
  2. In stock in Sweden today. Im seriosly tempted due to the great colors and DR from the xpro2 but with higher res and less moire. Whats holding me back is that I currently have no need for a digital stills camera and dont feel like paying for it. Plus a 5Dmkiii is half the cost of a xt2 + lens. If I needed a hybrid this would be it.
  3. No, for the same reason there is no ML in the 1DC. There is no firmware. The 1DC needs to be sent in for firmware updates. You need to do some seriously illegal stuff to get it
  4. My thought exactly. Might break out the popcorn for this one
  5. Dude... Its a movie and in movies there are flashes, ammo lasts forever and you can shoot point blank from the hip on full auto. I'm no astronaut but I'm sure the Millennium Falcon wouldn't be able to make the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs either
  6. The bmpc4k is pretty much moire free so I imagine the ursa mini 4k is as well.
  7. To have the same codec and 4K as the xc10 it would need an even ligger cooling fan than in the xc10. And its suposed to be a small still shooter. Would defeat its own purpose. DPAF in the xc15 would have been od for a xx5. XC20 is another story but its to soon.
  8. What I found the most annoying with the M3 was the moire. It was easily fixed in the original M with the crop mode but no such luck on the M3. And since ML will never come for any of the newer Ms (different OS) it needs to be a little better for my personal use. Other than that I thought the M3 was a really sweet camera. Lots to love.
  9. Liking the shadows, not so much the highlights. But way to early to say really.
  10. No, he asked you if you thought you could go and buy the sensor from the URSA 4.6 of the shelve. Which I'm pretty sure you can't. You could probably buy a sensor. But not exactly like the one in the Ursa mine.
  11. I didn't know it was illegal to buy non Apple products in your country
  12. Now Im confused. No one in this thread have claimed it to be so. Not John or anybody else. Or did I miss it?
  13. I say most serious video shooters do. Ive been meaning to say that to you since reading your thread titled "When External Audio Really Matters". IMO, it ALWAYS matter. And as you've heard from others giving feedback on your videos, the audio is key. The 4K may as well be SD if the audio is just static and pulsating Of course they do. They know more about it than most (including you) will ever do. But you misread my post. I suggest not having the defensive glasses on and not apply your needs and standards on others. They are real audiophiles and could care less about the 3.5mm jack in their phone since they would never use the phone in the first place when quality is of concern. They look for "good enough".
  14. Always for radio and sit down video interviews. For run-n-gun I occasionally use ear buds, but that's when Im going as light as possible. Like squig said, lots of headphones are bassy and perfect for hiphop, etc. The Beyerdynamics are great for speech. Very comfortable as well with soft velour like pads. (the mke600 is sweet, have one as well)
  15. To be fair, same with the camera quality. For my phone the "good enough bar" sits way way lower than for "real" gear.
  16. Not in every way. Maybe in "every way for Mark", but not everyone. Quick survey at work showed a 100% in favor of wireless. All work with audio/video on a daily basis so they know all about quality. Its about usability. Like someone said, why use the best cable to transfer crappy streamed, compressed audio.
  17. I cant think of a TV-, Radio- or editing studio that I've worked in and didn't have Beyer Dynamic 7xx series headphones. Honestly, never seen anything else being used. All the way from the university, student radio to the big national stations and production houses. Currently I have the 770 Pro 250ohm in the studio and editing suite at work and at home as well. Not saying they are the best, but popular enough to be considered Remember an old episode of Film Riot where they recorded gun sounds and hired an audio technician. And guess what So I take it they are popular over there as well.
  18. I remember all the angry mobs who cried about the first iPad not having one but several full sized USB ports Personally Im not buying an iPhone but I'm happy they did it. Same with switching from micro USB. I've always hated all the standards of USB. Full size, micro, doesn't matter. All USB connections have always sucked total balls and been a total pita. Just like micro HDMI. So the C-type is very welcomed as a step in the right direction.
  19. Maybe not a scam. Like John said, making cameras is very difficult. Maybe they simply failed. Or they just have the by far worst communications policy in history.
  20. So... things are getting fishy. The comments started as requests for footage and ha since changed to requests for returns. https://www.facebook.com/thecraftcamera/
  21. Extremely common function on professional camcorders. Don't think I know any that doesn't have it. So I agree, would be nice to have on DSLR type cameras as well.
  22. Ethnics statement... How about you telling us your name. Everyone knows Johns relationship to BMD. You could be the president of Red for all I know. Also I've never seen an authors before that didn't want to say their name. You know, to sell books. Honestly, at this point it seems you are just trying to dodge his questions to save face. Prove us wrong.
