Canon XC10 versus Sony RX10 III. The Canon is underrated!

You are right. The genre of documentary was invented in 2016. Before that it didn't exist. TV news does not exist. 100% of the people here that shoot events etc use AF 100% of the time. Every documentary ever made is AF or with a huge crew. This is fact and thank you for teaching me. I will call my latest client and tell them the doc I did is illegal because I didn't use AF and must be deleted. I'm sorry for saying MF is usable. It was a lie. MF is only for Nazis.

Yes, please, teach me everyting about how to become dependent on lots of stuff instead of getting the job done. Speaking of horseshit... If you can't pull focus on the run with a 1DC you need practice, not a focus puller. No need to be a dick just because thousands of people out there can pull focus on everything from DSLRs to BMPCCs. No need to debate this, I just wanted to point out to newcomers that your opinion was just that, an opinion.

Its nice that they are getting 4K, but imo, an old 5Dmkiii with ML still beats A7sii/rii, GH4, etc and probably will trump the GH5 as well. So there is a big chance the new 5Div will get its ass kicked by its own predecessor.

I used a C/Y to EF and then had a EF to NX on the camera. That way I could switch between C/Y and m42 lenses on the fly with just one adapter on the camera. m42 and C/Y to EF are small and very cheap, and they lock on very tightly. So, saved me time, money and space in the bag.

Of course you can, I've shot several documentaries all manual. All single operator. Are you guys kidding? Never heard of a "cameraman"?

C-log and Wide DR has pretty much the same DR. Both way higher than a cellphone.

If you can't focus a camera by yourself its time to start practicing.

Can I do slow Motion with ablackmagic pocket camera
Mattias Burling replied to muhammadahmad's topic in Cameras
I did a test with 30p to 24p on the BMPC. Gives it a nice subtile slowmo imo. Down side is the 30p makes the lights flicker here in PAL land. -
We will have to agree to disagree.

Over heating, sluggishness and banding. You get what you pay for. But I seriously doubt it will be twice the cost. I don't think it will have it. The average 5D buyer doesn't care about that. Imo ML Raw is higher on the list of what I would want.

No, its an APS-H or x1.3 crop. The M9, M, M-E, etc, or in other words, the rest of them are full frame.

Quick snap at f1.4. Whats up? by Mattias Burling, on Flickr

No the dof doesn't change, only your perspective on it. A 50mm f1.8 is always a 50mm f1.8 no matter what. The only difference is the crop. And a crop is exactly the same thing as cropping in post with a pair of scissors. I know this is a touchy subject for some, and I personally don't see any point what so ever to talk about "equivalents" so I will leave it at that.

Today I picked up the 35mm f1.4 and completed my trio for the M8 (also 28mm f2 and 50mm f1.5). Got all of them in absolute mint condition for a good price used. Will work on any mirrorless camera for video as well. The best part, besides the excellent image is the very nice build quality and smooth focus, with tabs on all but the 50mm. Very pancakish.

The Digital Bolex just got False Color

Agreed, an external one would be doable. -

Like I said earlier, the viewfinder in my s16mm film cameras are less usable than the d16 screen. -

Its like using the bmpcc when using a tripod. But with great audio, lots of media space and 5h battery. Paired with an EVF its very nice to use handheld. It takes a while to boot and is loud between takes. Other than that its joyful. -

The display is not good but usable and actually great for pixel level exposure (raw view). But its miles better than the OVF in my Bolex 16mm. That's more for framing and best to use a tape measure for focus. -

I see the display as awesome. It actually shows a poor image, but still, an image. In an emergency its usable. The Red camera have no display. Not even a bad one. S16 film cameras, which its supposed to replace don't have displays either. Think of it as an onboard mic. Not ment for everything, but most would go apeshit if the gh5 came without a built in mic. I had the Alphatron evf for the d16 but still used the on board display lots of times. You can buy a cheaper evf. The D16 supports older evfs that doesn't work on Blackmagic. -
Ive only played a little at home with the combo, but the Oly 17mm f1.8 on the bmpcc is a perfect match. Roughly 50mm with proper hard stops and a distance scale. Nice and light. And razor sharp.
