  1. Digital its 5D Raw. Otherwise I say my old Bolex at 01:30.
  2. If you didn't say "small" the LS300 is a stellar s35 MFT camera with all the bells and whistles.
  3. (imo) All I know is that the 4K raw from the BMPC looked great when I shot it. But so does the show "Curb Your Enthusiasm" from when they where still 4:3 SD, the colors and detail is smashing. Just recently rewatched Seinfeld, the 35mm in SD looks amazing. I just binge watched a new favorite photo channel on youtube, shot on the EOS-M with a 22mm, it looked great. Not once did I feel the image lacking. Point? Resolution is not that important. 1080p HD is still overkill for 99% everything being made. What really matters is (leaving out content here), DR, colors, composition, mood, movement, etc. And with DR its not so much having as many stops as possible, but more what you do with them. You can always light, choose the time of day, bounce, crush, etc so the image falls within the DR you have. Working with the limitations.
  4. The biggest con imo is the much cheaper G7 But the g7 photos also suck.
  5. More likely to be an X Mount imo. The Xpro2 is 90% there and the xt2 could be the winner.
  6. 120fps firmware is out. Will hopefully have a chance later this weekend to test it out.
  7. Been looking at this recently since Ive just bought a Leica for stills (needed native DNG) and as usual I did a lot of research. Its actually not that expensive. It costs about the same as the 1Dxii. Two totally different cameras, sure, was just comparing the price. The Leica would suite my needs more for stills, it looks better, its 4K 4:2:2 (even the old M is 4:2:2 btw), better mount (imo since it adapts electronically to M) and its going to drop in price much much faster. The later is the good side of people saying its not a "real Leica", it makes used prices more comparable to regular mirrorless. Which in my country means that they quickly become pretty much free. So its not like Im going to buy it, at least not this year, but I just wanted to vent my thoughts after an intensive week of Leica research. And as a side note for those that think the T line isn't really like, that it doesn't have the same quality and craftsmanship... that the manufacturing doesn't cost as much to justify the price...... well.... BTW I had that thing on for the full 45min when I was working, made me want to get one Fount a T with the 23mm Summicron for what just the house costs new. But I already have a great P&S for stills, wanted a bigger RF.
  8. My 2c on the list: GH3/4: Might as well buy the dirt cheap G7, but a good option. 5D3: Great FF stills. Awesome Raw video with Raw slowmo. IMO the best run n gun Raw camera for travel. A7RII: Don't like it. D5500: Good stuff. Great quality/mb which is ideal for travel. Grades nicely and takes great stills as well. rx100iv. There is no way I would trust it for travel. Ive had two that constantly over heat, get "System Error" and is the slowest camera Ive ever used. For travel I want something snappy. Personally I would be looking at the 5Dmkiii, LX100 or maybe just the Pen-f. Depending on how I rated the practicality vs quality on the trip.
  9. Yup, Ive thought about that before as well. A lot of people get excited by the "new Sonys with even more specs", but they sometimes seem to miss the fact that the price went up as well. So the "bang for buck" argument actually gets weaker with every new model. Same thing in the RX100 line. They haven't "added more", just raised the price accordingly. Imo Panasonic is the mirrorless company that keeps cost down by releasing the G-model of their GH-cameras.
  10. Shooting ISO 800 in bright light is no problem with a good ND. $3-400 if the hdmi is broken. And I expect some extra batteries etc.
  11. Om really really exited about this camera. The other day I did the mistake of downloading the clips from @fuzzynormal (thanks btw) and they look gorgeous. Grades really well to, lots of info in the shadows and such nice colors. And on top of that Ive always loved using Fuji for stills and of course strobing (leaf shutter FTW). Yesterday I came so close to buying a X-Pro2. But I decided last minute to wait for the X-T2 and then make the decision. The plan is to either get the X-Pro2 or an X-T2 + another Range Finder for stills. Apparently it will be announced in late June or July well before Photokina. So now starts the waiting game.... 12. So far just the 17mm and a few Stills with the 35mm f0.95. Have loads of lenses so not sure why I havent even tester them.
  13. Its my ad, not sure if I actually would go through with it, just wanted to see if its possible. Think I want both now Only until she gets to say hello. Its usually when dogs are kept apart that they get stressed.
  14. Yup, it does wonders but there are limits.
  15. Here is a quick test with some rough grading. I just wanted to see how it reacted to being pushed and didnt fine tune, in other words, excpect ugly grades. I say it holds decently. This was also shot in auto mode. The Stills however does not need any grading at all imo.
  16. Thats why Im lucky to be in Sweden. On the used market they are very affordable. Seems to drain the battery without a workaround. Atleast on the x100.
  17. I know but they ditched the OVF, that bugs me like crazy, I loved that. Still might get it. Or a X70 with external OVF.... Fuji drives me nuts, every single one of their models are so sweet and affordable. Have you seen the used prices here in Sweden on the X-T1 or the lower en Rage Finders (dont know their model names, they all sound the same).
  18. I recently got an Olympus Pen-F. The debate was between the Pen or a Fuji (x100t, xt1, x-pro1/2 etc). Ive always loved Fujifilm, even the small sensored X20 is an absolute joy to take stills with (to bad I needed wifi). The stuff I wanted was, Larger than 1" sensor Range Finder styled Awesome in camera colors Wifi The reason I got the Pen-F instead is because its almost as good a range finder as the Fujis. Plus it has incredible IBIS for video. And I already have lenses and adapters for m4/3. Both of them have problems in video regarding aliasing, but for the BTS and home videos I will use it for its fine. If the X-t2 do in fact get 4K, so I can get aliasing free video, then I will upgrade. Maybe I will keep both the Pen and the Fuji... who knows, have a few months to deside. Any who here is the very first video test I did. All shot handheld, in auto, no color correction or grading of any kind. Like I said, Im not gonna use this camera for any serious video, grading, etc. Its my stills camera. And for that I love it. Its got great handling, lovely sound (yes thats important) and the baked Monochrome 2 is so sweet I don't have to use raw. Some say the Monochrome 2 looks a lot like Kodak Tri-X. To my eyes its at least not far off. Here is a pic with actual Tri-X and an Olympus Trip 35. And here is a Monochrome 2 from the Pen-F
  19. Of course there are lighter but stronger material, but as you say, dont be surpriced if its +$10k. Even the FS7 has the same plastic build. Im glad they didnt go that route, because then there is no way I could have bought it. But those are just my needs. BTW, there is a big difference in the build of a Cinema Camera or Bolex and the sub $1k bmpcc. So if you like the BM image that night be worth looking into.
  20. It made a list http://www.redsharknews.com/production/item/3427-redshark-nab-awards-the-results
