    EOSHD C-LOG

Thanks, I hope so. I want to do some tests before I decide on my next camera purchase. I love the XC10, but I really need a larger sensor camera for close ups. After seeing footage shot with the 80D and seeing the high bitrate video specs, I was hoping the M5 would share the video specs of the 80D, since it shares the same sensor. But with Canon being Canon, that isn't the case. So it looks like I may be going with the 80D, but I want to do some tests with a cheaper cam to see if I can get the two cameras looking similar with Andrew's profile before I buy the 80D.
  2. Yeah, good job. After a production with the t2i, how do you feel about the camera and using older tech in 2016? The reason I ask is because I have been through a bunch of cameras over the past year and I find myself enjoying the Canon image and color way more than the current crop of 4K cameras. Your video and Kendy Ty's work really inspire me. I'm reminded that cameras are tools and in the right hands, with the right content, good old fashioned Canon 1080p is more than enough.

If you have a Japanese model eos-m (I suppose it's Grey Market) can you load these picture profiles using an English version of EOS Utility?
  4. @Kino is Interior Silence shot with the 2K 12bit mode you referenced and is that internal or externally recorded, because that sample looks gorgeous.
  5. Beautifully shot and edited, but of course the title has a double meaning. That's the wittiest part of the entire piece.

    New Camera advice

I wish they did. That would be my next camera.
  7. Idk, when I was using my Micro, the most fun I had with the camera was using c-mount lenses. Fujinon TV lenses are often compared to Super Speeds for pennies on the dollar... I mean those suckers are sharp lenses. I have an old set of Cosmicar lenses that added just the right character. The Bell + Howell Angenieux lenses are gorgeous and pair beautifully with the Pocket and Micro, as do the Kern Paillards. They really give you the ability to use fast lenses without a speedbooster/lens combo monstrosity on BM's smaller cams. I'm selling my Micro and hoping to eventually pick up a Pocket and I will only view the camera as the S16 cam it is... So only native M43 lenses with OIS (when I want to go handheld) and S16 glass/TV lenses for everything else... probably in c-mount. Sorry, I know this wasn't exactly the discussion you were having, but I don't think c-mounts are that obscure an option for a lot of BM users.
  8. These really do seem interesting. I like the form factor of the LX10/15 better, but the specs of the FZ2500 sound awesome. Hopefully a hybrid of the two will show up in an upcoming LX200.

    Monopod Help

When I bought mine it was already a little tight. I looked at a bunch of Amazon reviews and a lot of people were having the same issue with the leg sections, others weren't. I did read that it's important with the Sirui not to loosen the lock and let it slide open on its own, that's how the plastic on the inside starts to break down and shave off. So, as long as you're careful it will probably last a while. I just know with what I have experienced, I won't buy another one when this one completely breaks.
  10. The LX100 has the m4/3 sensor though, so it will probably get an update soon enough. It almost seems like they're testing features on lower end models for future higher end models, so maybe the LX200 will have a constant 1.4, or a 1.4-1.8.
  11. I believe when you use the evf, the left side of the touchscreen is disabled. I actually like tilt screens better than side articulating screens. The camera feels unbalanced when the screen is out to the side. Just unsure why an eos-m would be a C cam if you're A&B cams are high cinema cameras. But whatever. Yeah, I like the M5's potential. I am reserving the right to wait and see when more videos arise as this one is not a good indicator of its quality, or potential quality.
  12. Yeah, this definitely sounds good. Have they leaked a price point?
  13. That may be so but they're not going to just give away high end features at the same price point as the GH4, two and a half years later. And I think you underestimate what people will pay when they're invested in a lens system. They're not selling $1200-$1500 lenses for casual users and serious users must be buying these lenses so I don't see any reason they won't spend big on a good body to put them on.
  14. Maybe, but they're not going to price the G80 at the same price as the GX80/85. So it will definitely be more than $799. My guess is at least $999. So, then the question becomes... How much will they price the GH5... I highly doubt, if the spec rumors are true, that it will be $1500.

    Monopod Help

A lot of people have the Sirui and don't have issues. Mine worked fairly well in the beginning, but I also should note I bought an open box item. So who knows it may have been returned for being defective. I just know that after disassembling it and seeing how it was made, that these issues could arise for anyone who owns one. So YMMV.

    Monopod Help

I also must add, I've been lubricating the leg sections and it has helped to slow the breakdown of the plastic.
  17. I don't know. I think Canon designs their cameras for specific consumers and they market the features for those consumers.. The uploaded video alone makes me believe Canon sees this camera as being a second stills camera for the consumer/enthusiast still photographer that also shoots videos of their family while on vacation. With the 5-Axis IS, there's no need for a selfie stick. If the 5-Axis on the XC10 is any indicator, it should be pretty good. I just threw together a couple clips that shows my first outing with the XC10's 5-Axis. With the XC10 it uses the lens' OIS for two of the axis' and 3-Axis electronic IBIS. If I remember correctly I was attempting to walk lightly...

    Monopod Help

I have the Sirui and it's great... Until it isn't. Let me explain... Inside the individual tubes is a plastic piece. The extension and collapse of the legs over time causes the aluminum to bite into the plastic and shave off little pieces that get stuck and mar the aluminum. Also, the twist locks do not work that great after a while. The upper pan section is practically useless. The bottom section is good, but the knob that provides the tension is starting to fail, making it difficult to loosen the tension on the bottom pan/tilt movements. I've had mine for less than a year and these little headaches are forcing me to search for a new monopod. I will probably get the Benro and put lock nuts on the back of the flip locks... If it's possible?
  19. Panasonic uses some funky wording when describing their stabilization. It could mean anything.
  20. You use the Cinema cams as your A & B cams and the original eos-m as your C cam? I think the idea is you (or the intended consumer) won't need a tripod due to the 5-Axis.
  21. Hmm, the fact that they're giving the G8 weather proofing and a magnesium body may indicate a higher release price than the G7. I think this may be an indicator of the new Panasonic pricing. G80(8) will be $1299 + and the GH5 will be $2000 +
  22. Yeah, I am not sure why this is being touted as the mini 80D yet they seem to cripple the video. I'll wait for full judgement when more videos arise, but I thought the close ups looked quite nice... Or should I say have potential.
  23. Yeah, it seems quite good. I hope the pricing rumor was true. BH has body only preorder price of $979. I need to hear more about the specs before I commit. Hopefully, it matches the 90mbps bitrate of the 80D. Am also hoping you get full access to the IBIS with EF lenses... And also manual lenses. If it's nearly as good as the 5-Axis on the XC10, then it will be amazing... Even with a crop.
  24. Gotta love golden hour. You had some difficult exposure shots in the beginning that were handled pretty well. The final shots are gorgeous. I'm such a sucker for an orange sunset sky and a silhouetted foreground.
