That's a nice set. I love the 35mm 1.8. I wish I never sold mine. I have the 24-35mm 3.5, 28mm f2, 35-70mm macro, and the 50mm 1.4. I want to pick up a cheap 45mm f2 and I may replace my 24-35 with the 24-50. I also have a couple Celtics... I have a mint copy of the MC 35mm f2.8 that I declicked. I want to find a speedbooster for them, but they're hard to come by. Do you use yours with your pocket cam? If so, do you have any clips? I'd really like to see how the Minoltas look on the BMPCC. Stunning.

Which Minolta primes do you have?
  3. Hey, you asked. I think more information is needed to answer your question properly. For instance, if your film opens... BLACK SCREEN: SUPER: IT WAS THE BEST OF TIMES, IT WAS THE WORST OF TIMES. CHARLES DICKENS FADE IN: Other than the obvious fact that that line is in the public domain... Even if it was not it would be perfectly legal because you are citing the source
  4. It depends on the way it is being used? And to what effect? I assume it's a popular quote, otherwise what would be the point?
  5. Interesting thread. I think it would be smart of Panasonic to not try and emulate Sony's path. But I agree some very specific upgrades are in order. History has proven that Panasonic acknowledges that the video market is a good portion of their GH line sales, so a few video centric upgrades could really help to set them apart from Sony, Canon, Nikon, etc... If anything, I would like to see Panasonic going after Blackmagic sales. Give us the GH version of the Pocket cam with 4K downscaled in MP4 and 60p at 2x crop and compressed Raw Full HD... Even with a larger crop... Actually I would prefer it, as it would open up more lens possibilities with c-mount lenses.
  6. Tokina always needed a 50mm prime, IMO. A Tessar Cine Prime would be an excellent addition if you ask me.
  7. The Tokina Cine lenses look great. They're a touch overpriced, IMO, but the 11-16 isn't bad. I hope they come out with some Cine primes.

Yes, I have been eyeing the D5500 for awhile because I would like to start doing some stills, but one of the drawbacks has always been that I like to have lens options. Then I saw that OM lenses will work on a Nikon if you change the mount. You can get them on eBay for 20 bucks.

    I think it's a simple mount change.
  10. Panasonic FZ1000 or the FZ300.

Isn't there a simple way to change the mount on Olympus OM to Nikon F?

Holy shit, that was a great deal. That Distagon is probably worth 5 or 600 euros.

I am really interested in the metabones XL but 450 bucks is a lot to spend on an adapter. I have heard good things about the Kippon's Baveyes. They don't have the .64x as the metabones, but there's is s touch better at .7 than the rest. Plus they are starting to float around eBay for less than 200.

I want the Distagon 28mm f2. Are peanuts a Spanish currency?

If I were you, I would go with the FD or the Olympus. With either, you can grab a cheap, excellent 50mm for $50 or less. With FD you can get a 24mm f2 and a 35mm f2 for around $200 each. With those 3 lenses you will have a nice little set. Then you can look for the 17mm f4 later on for around 300 and then a zoom or two. For less than a thousand you can have an excellent set of lenses eventually. Stay with a lens maker though.

Prores works on Windows too. You just have to have the codec on your computer.

With Vivitar, you want to check the serial number. The first two numbers on vintage Vivitar lenses denotes the manufacturer. For instance, if it starts with a 37, then Tokina made it. If it starts with a 28, then Kiron made it, a 22, Komine. They were or are all good lens makers. So, yes the Vivitar 24mm f2 should be a pretty good lens. Also, in my opinion, the Canon FD or the Nikon or the Olympus are all better lenses than the Samyang.

    I think canon FD 24mm f2 is around 2-300
  21. Are you using Magic Lantern on an eos-m with the 3x crop? If so, then I recommend C-mount lenses. No question.

I was just looking for a constant aperture zoom. I looked on eBay and saw the 35-105mm and then found this. For 30 bucks I thought what the hell. I had a small set of FD lenses. I sold all of them... Some of which I paid 3 or 4 times more, but won't sell this. The only issue I have with the lens is that the filter ring is recessed, so it is hard to mount and nd filter. But even at 5.6 you get good bokeh. In fact, I don't think any of the shallow focus shots in that video were shot wide open.

Great lens. I bought this on a whim for 30 bucks. Here it is on an eos-m... Almost zero breathing and amazing bokeh for an f4 lens.

Get the Tokina 24-40mm f2.8 and 35-70mm f2.8. All manual. Beautiful lenses. This is the Tokina 24-40mm on the NX500.
  25. I have found that vivid with -4 sat, 0 contrast, -10 sharp, 0 hue gives really good results. Also custom with same settings is nice. I am glad to see you using calm, before I picked up the g7, that was my next experiment but unfortunately I haven't gotten around to it.
