Since you already own the 35mm f2 and you love it, then I would stick with Nikon. Grab a 50mm f2 and the 28-70mm and you'll have a great set of lenses to use on the NX1 or any future camera purchase for the foreseeable future.
  2. Have never used one, but I found a few on eBay. They run around $150, give or take.

I liked the super 16 at either 50 or 100.
  4. NYC is a different kind of place. People go out of their way to not make eye contact. From the corner of their eyes, they probably thought he was a crazy guy with a box on his shoulder.

  6. That sounds interesting. Let me know when it's done, I'll be a buyer. I was just reading an article by Stu Mascwitz over at prolost.com about the differences between Raw and Log footage, a lot of it went over my head but there are some interesting parts involving the clipping of RGB channels and how you can post manipulate white balance by simply adjusting those channels... Or some shit... Like I said, it was beyond my knowledge. You'd probably get more out of it than I did.
  7. Yeah, your results are looking great. Can't wait to see some video. I need to learn how to properly color correct and grade, without LUTS I would have black people looking white.
  8. Never thought I'd say this, but... That pile of dung looks great.
  9. Since you are already used to the BM workflow, why not get a pocket or micro with a metabones?
  10. Haha. I can't see that from my phone, so I do not feel stupid at all. Lol. I think now the question remains, how pissed is he at me for thinking it was shot on a Nikon dslr? And I might as well shoot everything with a Nikon DSLR because I think it looks as good as a proper cinema camera. Ignorance is bliss.
  11. It looks great!!! I love shadow detail as well, just never thought of dialing saturation all the way down. Why are you leaving sharpening and nr at 0? Obviously, you have tested this and have had good results... Otherwise you wouldn't do, but it goes against a lot of information out there... Am definitely going to try this. Thanks again... Once again you have proved to be one of the most helpful members on the site!!! BTW, Are you using any in camera curve? Also, 0-255 or 16-255?
  12. I don't know. He either used a small sensor camera or a kit lens based on the lack of depth of field of some of his close ups. So, that's why I guessed a Nikon dslr and a kit lens.
  13. Really? -5 saturation? You are able to pull the color information back? So Natural -5 Contrast, -5 Noise Reduction, -5 Sharpening and -5 Saturation? I've been using a Nikkor ai 28mm f2 lens lately that I'm in love with, do you think it would fare well with the XL? I also have a set of Tokina AT-X manual zooms... The 24-40 and the 35-70mm f2.8... In Nikon mount. How do you think they would pair with the XL?
  14. Andy, this is a little off topic, but I also am a G7 owner and I would love to know what settings you're using. As you probably know, there is a tremendous amount of conflicting information online regarding the best picture profile. I have been getting decent results with both cinelikeD and Natural, but any insight you have would be greatly appreciated, especially since I am in preproduction on my first feature. Is the XL a paramount part of the quality you are getting?
  15. +1 I would love to know if this works. Prores and the G7 could be a lethal combo.
  16. The lowlight was very nice. How did you light the shot with the father and daughter leaning against the car? It was very subtle and clean and exactly how a night shot should look in my opinion... Did you use headlights from another car? Anyway my guess is you used a Nikon dslr... Maybe the d3100 or 3300.

Hondo Garage makes a rig with an anti-twist design that looks brilliant. I cannot say first hand, because I don't use a follow focus. I find I can get a pretty good focus pull with a simple follow focus lever. Of course, Hondo Garage's 50 dollar follow focus looks like a great low budget design that I'm tempted to try.

So the Nikon version is clickless but the canon version isn't? Weird. So, wait... You're gonna get the Ef version and use them on the 5d but not the NX? What will you use with the NX1? Speaking of 5D, have you seen Volker Schmidt's 5D Raw videos? They look great. I think he has one posted on your film grain thread.

Yeah, they're sick. Can't believe they're jpegs. Good on you. And I thought the Contax Zeiss Planar I got the other week was sharp... Well it is but these new Zeiss are next level. Does the canon version have An aperture ring?

Dang! Those are some sharp ass pics. The fur on the leopard and the camel is nuts... Even zoomed in a couple hundred percent. But then I zoomed in on the pelican's feathers and... Whoa!!! Is that the San Diego Zoo?
  21. That's awesome, thank you so much. I was bummed that I couldn't use this lens without having it professionally modified. I have been using some old cosmicar f/1.9 lenses with my G7 successfully and they are great, but not nearly as nice as the Fujinon. I also have a set of Canon VF TV lenses that are fantastic, and the 12.5mm covers the entire sensor... With no vignetting.
  22. Sure enough, it looks like it will work. I did a dry run and held the lens up to the adapter and I was able to get infinity focus. I had to use my slim c-mount adapter, but that's fine. So, after you adhesive the rear ring onto the back of the lens, then you glue the threads on the c-mount before turning it into the adapter?
  23. I'll be damned, great idea. I was thinking trying to find a different rear screw ring that could fit inside the m43 adapter... Didn't even consider adhesive. Thanks!!! Are you familiar with the 16mm f/1.4?
