Yeah there is... A few months ago I was in the process of selling off my Nikkors. I had a small set of ai/non-ai primes, which I wasn't using all that much. On a whim, I attached the non-ai 50mm f2... And... I was blown away!!! I did some research and learned that some people consider this modest little lens to be one of the sharpest 50s ever made. So, I went searching for a wide angle companion for her and found the 28mm f2. All I can say is... WOW!!! What an amazing lens. Since we're sharing grabs, here's a jpeg screen grab from my G7 with 28mm f2, wide open, with the Fotodiox Vizelex ND Throttle adapter. I did some post with the Cinelook FCPX plug-in from Color Grading Central...

Is there an LED in the lamp? Is it cool or warm?

In another thread, you admit and encourage documentarians to use storytelling in their work, but in this instance you take articles written by The New York Times and Al-Jazeera at face value. You have bought into this notion that big business and law enforcement are the "bad guys" and the common man are the "good guys," that's cute and all, but the world is a little more complicated than that. And if it wasn't for the photographers that make 50k a day, there wouldn't be $600 a day jobs for his/her crew... Which is an AMAZING days pay by the way.

This looks great! A beautiful, gritty weight to the image. I am still kicking myself that I didn't buy one during the fire sale. I'm hoping once the micro comes out that they drop the price of the pocket. Otherwise, if I decide to save up for one, I may as well just go with the micro.

Totally off topic, but that brunette, in the kitchen, is gorgeous.

I have seen some beautiful work from the 5500. Gorgeous 1080p. I was set to pick one up, but then the G7 went on sale, and I went for that. But I am still waiting for the D5500 to break 500 and I may pick one up. Well, for completely different reasons I may either go for the D5500 or a BMPCC. Enough about me, in my opinion, if you're looking to upgrade, I'd go for the D750. Mattias Burling has some beautiful examples of its full frame glory.

You can get a new D5500 body for $510 on eBay.

I know you love it, as you should... It's a great camera. And I think your findings are probably right on... With that much resolution, modern lenses are probably more suited to the sensor. Honestly, I think the NX users should be thanking you for all the tests you're performing and for sharing the results. From my experiences with the NX500, it seems like the NX line of lenses affords the best results... If you want a very clean, clinical look... I don't own an NX lens, but from what I have seen of them, in comparison with what I have tested with my vintage lenses. The Sigma 18-35, that Ricardo tested, looks beautiful. It's clean and sharp, yet still has some character. The good thing about your current lens line up or your current options are they all are cross platform lenses. These lenses will work with any future camera purchase... Unless you go to Nikon or Canon in the future, then you will lose adaptability with your FD lenses. So, if you want to upgrade to the Zeiss or Sigma, selling off the FDs is smarter than selling the Nikkors. Also keep in mind that a lot of people use the Sigma lenses, so the Zeiss may make more sense to differentiate yourself. But you have such a great set of FD lenses that it may make more sense to sell the NX1 and move to Blackmagic. Zak Forsman recently stated in a post on another topic that he couldn't be happier using Raw instead of chasing resolution... I'm paraphrasing. As you know, the lenses can last for decades, where the camera will only last a couple years... Give or take.

Gotcha, I thought I read it shoots 60i at 1080. Either way it looks nice. That voigtlander looks excellent. If I'm ever in the market for more expensive lenses... I will be looking into them. Those Tiffen filters look like a great idea... I never knew they existed. What strength are you using?
-
No, my bad... Major brain fart. I think I want 60p GS, so I read what I wanted from your comment.
-
First, I hope you have safe travels and thanks again for your service!!! Second, I don't know man... It kinda seems that the NX1 is just not suited to your workflow style. I like what you've been getting out of it, but you seem displeased with your results. Between your Nikkors and your FD lenses, you have a great set up. I think you might enjoy the pocket cam or the 5D better? If I were you, I'd probably ditch the NX1, while you can still get some coin out of her and pick up a pocket and a 5D. Maybe sell your FDs and get some c-mount lenses for the pocket. But then again... What do I know. If you want the Zeiss... Go for the Zeiss, they are beautiful lenses. Or the art lenses... You can't go wrong with either.

That's what I had thought too, but Forsman said he received confirmation from Kroll that there is Raw 60p GS.
-
Really!? That looks wicked. Why 720p? What lens were you using?
-
I guess they updated the "production" model, because all of the specs, I have seen, show no Raw 60p with the GS. You'd think they'd update their specs... That a major improvement.
-
Is this your video? Either way, it looks nice. A very solid 1080p image and good composition.
-
If you downsample the 4K to 1080 before you bring it into the nle, there shouldn't be an issue.
-
Damn, they look great!!! I assume you don't need to desqueeze them?
-
What lenses are you using with it? Anamorphic?
-
Check out the FZ300. There are some nice videos floating around. It also has cinelikeD and V. Mic input and controls. It's weather sealed. And 4K.

I guess a 5" lilliput monitor wouldn't be too big, or too expensive. Hopefully, there are some nice cages that come out with different monitor, mounting options. I don't necessarily care about being wireless, I just want a compact unit where the BMMCC doesn't have screenis envy. Good plan. How are you getting on with the pocket?
-
Could an hdmi wi-fi dongle stream to an iPhone or an iPod touch? They're reasonably priced and not too enormous.
-
Yeah the idea that the screen is almost twice the size of the camera is kinda silly. The ability to use your iPhone or a small GoPro-like screen seems like the best option, but it doesn't seem possible, or at least cost effective. For me, the best scenario would be the camera on an L-Bracket with a c-mount lens... Talk about a small set up. Hopefully a third party will introduce a smaller screen... Maybe a screen that can hook into the battery on the back... A third party battery that has two terminals... One that powers the camera and another that powers a small screen designed specifically for the battery and BMMCC.
-
I was wondering the same thing. According to B&H's overview, it will accept a wireless hdmi transmitter that can transmit to an iPhone but they seem pricey. It would be cool and cost effective if there was a way to adapt one of gopro's LCD backpack screens to it.
