  1. I'll do it. I've acted in a few indie shorts and features. And if you need a woman's voice, my girlfriend used to act and is looking to get into voice work.
  2. Does anyone know if that VAF filter affects stills in any way?
  3. I must admit I have been a little swayed by Andrew's recent post about the top 5 cameras for cinematic images. And since the raw workflow seems a lot more accessible now than it was a few years ago. I, actually, almost bought a Mark II the other day that only had 4000 actuations and it came with a zacuto loupe for less than 800, but I decided to hold off. Dean, this looks great. The first shot with the music and the woman's expression just made me laugh... In a good way. The piece had a cool retro vibe to it.
  4. I used to have the 20mm f/4.5. A great lens as well if you don't need a fast wide angle. They also made a 28mm f3.5. I never used it but it's as highly regarded as the 35mm f3.5. And they have a 24mm f3.5... Never used it and a 35mm f2, which I am trying to get one now for a good price. I love f2 lenses... I think they're the perfect combo of speed and shallow depth, especially for narrative work. I've always liked m42 lenses, I'll have to give them a try on the 500. Of course, I am thinking about selling it. I really think I'd like to give raw a try... Either with the 5D or a pocket.
  5. Great lenses. You should check out the 35mm f3.5 as well. It's a slower lens, but it's a performer. Probably one of my favorite lenses I've ever used. And they're cheap as shit. You can easily find one for less than 50 bucks.
  6. Do the Nikons have any exposure guides? How many steps can you go either way with exposure compensation? Does to much +/- stress the codec?
  7. good point about adapters. Btw, I recently bought one of those fotodiox nd vizelex adapters for my g7 and it works great. I know they make them for NX, so they may drop in price soon. I highly recommend them.
  8. These look great. I never knew they existed, I am going to keep an eye out for them at thrift stores and yard sales. They will make a great diy light.
  9. Thanks, makes perfect sense now. Sometimes I have been shooting some shots which had a lot of range and I felt like I had to choose if I should allow something to clip in the background because my subject was still too dark. Obviously, in the perfect scenario I would use a light to supplement, but sometimes when I'm the middle of the woods, on a sunny day, I don't remember to throw an LED in my bag.
  10. Thanks Mattias, I've been using a mixture of the zebras and histogram, but the zebras seemed overly sensitive, so I have been paying more attention to the histogram. I think I have my zebras set at 95, I'll have to check. With other cameras, I only used zebras and never paid much attention to the histogram... I think I'll go back to that. Thanks again!!!
  11. Ebrahim, speaking of the gh4 and ETTR, I would ETTR with my NX500 and got pretty good results, but with my G7, I am having issues ETTR. I use the histogram and I expose just right of center (proper exposure) but I am getting crazy clipped highlights. Any thoughts? In fact, with the G7, it seems a slight underexposure works better. For full disclosure, I am only using the aperture ring, ISO and a variable ND filter to control exposure... Should I +/- exposure compensation? Also, do you use zebras... If so... What do you have them set at? Sorry about the OT.
  12. I have a couple of sets of these. They get extremely hot... Like 2nd degree burns hot. But they will send out some light.

    G7 Settings?

Yeah, it's definitely a little too Oompa Loompa. Thanks! That was the Nikkor 28mm f2. I used that Fotodiox Vizelex adapter that has the ND filter built into the adapter.

    G7 Settings?

Similar set up using the cinelook plug in. Sorry if I'm boring people, just trying to nail down a "look" for an upcoming short film.

    G7 Settings?

Got a plug in from color grading central called "cinelook w' gorilla grain" so I was messing around with it a little today. It's a neat little plug in with sliders similar to some of the basic red giant plug ins, but it makes my computer run slow while it is rendering. Has anybody else used this product? Also, what settings are people using with the G7? This was another cinelikeD with Contrast at 0, Sharpness at -5, Noise Reduction at -5, and Saturation at -2.
  17. MLRawviewer is a good program. I have also used Raw Magic, a Mac app and that is a fairly good program. Here's a link to a quick and easy workflow. There are probably some better methods, but this is what I used while experimenting with my eos-m. https://jason-bowdach.squarespace.com/blog/2014/08/the-easy-way-to-use-magic-lantern-raw-straight-to-prores.html
  18. I have been a little swayed by this post (I secretly believe Andrew must be a mastermind behind some sort of black market, used camera syndicate) but is it true that there is a noticeable difference (analogue vs. digital) between the Mark II and Mark III?
  19. Nice little series e lens.
  20. Yeah, but I think Andrew's point was that there is not enough of a difference for the variation in looks... Analogue vs. Digital. The filter add on can eliminate the aliasing. Of course, I have never worked with either, but the ability to find a used Mark ii, in excellent/mint condition for less than a grand pushes it higher up the list, IMO.
  21. Yeah, I am super jealous of you and your D16. If I was a wealthier man, the D16 would be first on my list. There just isn't a camera like it. Hell I'd be happy with the B&W version. But I would love to see Kodak come out with a Raw HD Super 8 camera... Maybe max it out at 720p with a 4:3 mask for the purist... For around a grand or less... I doubt it will happen, but it would be cool. Yeah, the Bellami image quality is horrific. The Harinezumi looks about as good for only $150 bucks... But the Bellami is a wicked design and that chinon lens looks nice. Wish they made some longer lengths I could try on my G7.
