  1. Well, the GH5 has only been on the market for a year and a half, so this idea that it’s dead is just silly. And the P4K just doesn’t offer enough of an upgraded image to let go of the GH5 features, IMO. The X-T3 is VERY interesting. The IQ is superb and very cinematic. The problem with all of these cameras are the files. You need a very competent computer/storage solutions to wrangle in the file sizes and compression... which is the only benefit of the P4K IMO... the ProRes files should get along better with modest computer specs.
  2. Hmm, I know the GH5 has a ton more features but after using my friend’s E-M10iii, watching videos from that camera on here, and just spending a little while watching online videos from the E-M1ii, I think the overall image is just more organic from the E-M1ii compared to the GH5. It looks like the Olympus has about a half a stop less dynamic range, and is only 8bit compared to 10bit on the GH5, but the colors still look nicer on the Olympus. And from what I have read, the Olympus has near 6.5 stops of stabilization and clearly beats the GH5. The G9 may be closer to the Olympus than the GH5 with IBIS. And in fact, I think fuzzy is right that the EM5ii has better IBIS than the GH5. Hopefully the E-M5iii will be released soon and best all of the above. I also have a feeling that Olympus is the next company to watch and think they may actually be the first consumer camera company to offer Raw or ProRes on one of their cams. We’ll see.
  3. I don’t even know who that Caleb guy is... I suppose I should? But it is isn’t rocket science... he never needed a Red. Half the people buying the P4K, doesn’t need one and will be disappointed and I’ll happily buy it from them sometime next year... haha.
  4. I kind of agree. Obviously the files can be pulled and pushed and thrown out a moving car but there is something pedestrian about the look. The Ursa, OG Pocket and Micro all have it in spades, but the P4K... I’m just not seeing it yet. But it’s still a nice image, so for the money, it’s hard to complain. To add... I’m also seeing a little IR pollution pop up in a few videos and still frames, so maybe that is mucking it up... hmm.
  5. Great video! My friend has the E-M10iii and I set his up with the same settings and he’s getting very similar SOOC results. Olympus color, and Fuji, is really impressing me lately. The image has a very organic look that I think is missing from Sony and Panasonic.
  6. I’ve noticed, on Vimeo, that if you play the video before you make it full screen, it seems to play smoother and not pause.
  7. Idk, Kye’s wife may leave him if he shows up to Christmas dinner, looking like a doofus with an easy rig contraption. He should definitely make his kids hold up color charts and slates though. Just don’t yell “CUT” and give Aunt Esmeralda direction during Grace... he is the reason for the season afterall.
  8. Sure no problem but can you book yourself a flight to NJ first and run the audio for the feature I’m shooting in December as a donation? ?
  9. The simple fact is this... nobody cares about you or your work unless you throw it down their throats. As someone upthread has already said, it doesn’t even need to be good, just present it like it is. Unless it’s really, really bad... then one just needs to keep honing their craft until someone gets it. Exactly. If you go all the way back to the beginning of her IG account you can see where her filmmaking story begins. Over the years she posted her ups and downs and showed a very human side to her journey and now she is well into making her first feature film, which she posted about writing the screenplay 5 years ago when she graduated from film school. I don’t think this was premeditated but it proves the power of the medium. Here’s her IG page if anyone is interested... http://instagram.com/alaskathefilm
  10. Haha, You should be a motivational speaker. It’s both negative and inspiring at the same time.
  11. Idk, I’m probably not the right person to ask about this stuff. But stop worrying about looking fake or being contrite. You have a product you want people to see, so you have to sell yourself or promote yourself... it’s that simple... nobody else will do it for you. Start an IG account, if you don’t have one, and search for cartoonists or short films and network. There are so many talented artists on IG, so stop worrying about being fake or normal and put yourself out there if you want to be seen or heard. I don’t know what IG pages you’re looking at but I don’t think I’ve ever come across any teenage girls on IG. I’m sure they’re there but it’s not the same platform it was when it started however many years ago. I would assume there are more than a billion people on IG. And @webrunner5 Liam makes narrative short films and animations... I don’t think he will follow the YouTube path you’re talking about. As far as I know, he doesn’t want to be lifestyle vlogger or camera reviewer.
  12. I can’t say for sure but I think Liam is looking for some type of service that will find the subscribers? @Liam have you explored Reddit or blogging?
  13. Casey Neistat is so irrelevant to what you’re doing that he’s hardly worth mentioning... even though I disagree on your opinion of him. He’s a reality TV star selling himself and he’s very good at that. I admit that I’ll get sucked into a few episodes every now and then and follow him around Manhattan or whatever boring adventure he brings his audience along for. Instagram is a game, you follow people while you post stuff. You like people’s work and they check out your work. It’s networking at your fingertips... in some ways it’s superficial and in a lot of ways, it works. I post some frame grabs every now and again but haven’t jumped in and exploited the medium yet. One woman I follow started posting her story, really her journey about getting her film made and she created enough followers and interest that she just ran a successful crowdfunding campaign that’s going to pay for the next phase of her production. So IG can work, but you have to play the game. It’s also pretty cool to see how many talented people there are in this world. Haha... you had me at toucan but I stayed for the nom nom.
  14. The MF Guides are the triangles that will turn green when focus is hit, right? I assume, since it uses the DPAF, that it only works with native EF lenses and not vintage or adapted mount lenses?
  15. Yes, I have written 3 horror features... 2 supernatural horror and 1 horror/comedy. I’m also in the process of writing 2 others for sale and 2 that I may end up making.
  16. All you can do is keep working and finding your audience. With every project your craft grows and the connection between yourself and your work fortifies. Have you tried posting your work on IG. I haven’t had the chance to watch your latest cartoon but I enjoyed your first one. If you can come up with 1 minute or less cartoons, Instagram is a great place to grow an audience.
  17. Idk, Mail Chimp is pretty cheap but it may not be what you are looking for. You probably just need to grind out work and post it as many places as you can. Find review sites. Enter in festivals and contests. But most importantly keep creating and posting. The more work you have the more chances of more eyes on it.
  18. Well I think you’re on your own and I am losing interest. I guess the only fair thing to do in the future is not include the GH5s. I thought it was a fun and interesting test, especially considering the lighting set up. However, the results were somewhat predictable... my guesses fell in line with what I already knew and felt about the cameras.
  19. No, I’d have a comparison based on how I would use the setup. If I had a C200 or 1DXii with the 24-70mm f/2.8, I’d use it wide open. If I had an X-T3 and 23mm f/2, I’d use it wide open and if I had a GH5s with the 12-35mm f/2.8, I’d use it wide open. Sensor size fairness is for kindergartners, I only care about how I would use the camera/lens in a real world scenario.
  20. Sorry there is no valid criticism here. The biggest takeaway was color. DOF and sensor size doesn’t affect color. The DOF just made it easier to spot the odd duck of the bunch. If anyone wanted to mention fairness, anybody could have argued that C200 had the biggest advantage being that its Raw 12bit video and a $7500 camera.
  21. Tolerance aside, and fairness aside... I would have shot all of those cameras/lenses wide open and let the results speak for themselves.
  22. And it’s barely a one stop difference, so whatever. I think the takeaway here is how good the X-T3 is and with all of this FF talk, S35 isn’t dead yet.
  23. You could always do your own comparison and set the parameters yourself. DBounce did a test based on what he had and what he felt was fair. I think the results were interesting, although not surprising.
  24. To add, I’d love to see a B&W comparison if you get a chance.
