It's awesome! Awhile ago I had the much older nikkor 20mm 3.5 UD, and the copy I had was a bit yellowed and soft. The 20 2.8 AIS is much sharper wide open and a perfect color match for all the other Nikon AIS stuff I have. It fills a huge hole in my line up and makes me wish I had bought one sooner If you find a one, grab it!

I currently have the 50 1.2 AIS and a 50 1.8 AF-d, and 55 2.8 macro I've owned the older 50 1.4 S in the past. 1.8 and 2 are really pretty much the same thing. All of them are pretty sharp at f/2. the 1.4 I had was pretty dreamy wide open and got sharp around 2.8 or so if I recall. The 1.8 I have is sharp wide open and about the same at 2.8. The 1.2 is very good wide open and really sharp closed down. the 55 2.8 macro is just next level, edge to edge sharpness throughout it's aperture settings. Unrelated to the 50s, but I bought a 20mm 2.8 AIS the other week and man is it nice. It's already one of my favorite nikon lenses

I love all your guys ideas so far, and most of the things I'd want have been stated. I'd also really like a 4x3 mode like the gh4 has.

I do think rey should have more shortcomings, and I think those will come out in episode VIII. I think what works well in TFA is the set up for future confrontation. She downed an injured Ren, but he's far from dead. Skywalker/vader blood is the same thing, and he's clearly not the only one possessing it.... Also, we know nothing of Kylo Ren's training other than he ruined Luke's new jedi group. We know nothing of any training ren has received in the interim. Snoke at the end of TFA calls for ren's final training to begin, so clearly both he and rey are going to be coached up a lot setting the stage for another confrontation, both with new insights and challenges presented. Ren is the only formidable opponent. They're both pupils. Starwars and merchandising have literally ALWAYS gone hand in hand, really merch has ALWAYS come before the stories, or at least since they found out people will buy any of it and all of it. I don't have TFA above any of the originals, but I do have it above all of the prequels already. Not an earth shattering statement there, but it's still already carved a place in the franchise for me and I'm really excited to see where it goes. The really exciting part for me is that rey is the least exciting character so far. poe, ren, hux, and fin are all fantastic and I can't see what legacy they all leave

*Spoliers* but really, who's reading this that hasn't seen it? Shame on you! I agree about the flaws with Luke in ANH, but I don't think you can do the same thing with rey in TFA. People are already speaking to how similar TFA and ANH are, do you really want the protagonist to have an even closer ark to Luke in ANH? I think rey was established in the beginning as a capable Melee fighter, even if it's just against some punks. I also understand that kylo ren is miles above anything she's faced before, but when they fight he's also damaged goods, not just from Chewie's bowcaster (which is much more powerful in this film) and Finn's hit or two with the lightsaber. She is also losing that fight until she's reminded of the force and let's go, trusting herself to the force. I'm excited to see rey's journey going forward and think there's still enough conflict or other driving factors to show her growth, as well as kylo ren's growth, in the later films

Yeah, I agree. Out of the three films. I'm definitely the most excited to see what he does.

I really enjoyed it. I didn't read any leaks or spoilers, but still has my assumptions about the majority of the framework going in and most of my hunches were correct. All the acting felt great to me. There were some really promising moments for future set ups. I'm really excited to see what Rian Johnson does with it. There was some stuff I didn't love, but nothing I hated. I'm eager to watch it again

fs700?

^I'm using this one or one just like it^ Mine is rainbowimaging I think, but it's all the same. It's been great. I've been using it since June when I bought my nx1 for Nikon AIS stuff as well as my tokina 11-16
-
Glad you got one Michael, I haven't used my d7100 that much since buying my nx1 back in june. It's really really good. Get the latest firmware, You can do this in Camera with Wifi. The DIS is really really good. Don't discount it yet. Especially with the Nikon zooms I know you have. I like it a lot with my 80-200 and tokina 28-70. I actually just found a 16-50 little pocket zoom that you got and am waiting to get that. ( I have no samsung native lenses, only my Nikon mount stuff and other random glass)

Thanks for the post, Cinegain! It does look like that. What a bummer. I have found very similar things to what you did, sites similar to alibaba and these other sites I've never used before. Does anyone have experience buying through these sites or this way? I've messaged a few providers on ebay that still have QBM to m4/3s, NEX, and EOS adapters up. I'm hoping I can still get a single adapter, but it's nice to know I could do it that way as well, just with one more variable.
-
Ah, that's a good idea. Do a double adapter If I can't find the straight to NX one. Good thinking! If I can't find a straight to NX one first, I'll definitely do that
-
Oh no! I just bought a Schneider 50 1.7 rollei QBM mount, but now I'm unable to find any QBM to Samsung NX adapters. They seemed to be around a few weeks ago, now I'm having trouble finding one. Anyone have any leads where I might be able to grab one of these?

Adobe Premiere Pro CC Now Supports H.265 NX1 Files

I have and use the cheap ebay/amazon rainbow imaging Nikon G to samsung nx adapter and it's been great. I use it for all my nikon AIS lenses and AF or G lenses, mainly the tokina 11-16. It's been great for the 6 months I've had it. -
Nikon bought Samsung NX mirrorless tech. End of Samsung NX (?)

This is great, I hope it's true. Definitely some really exciting potential here. -
They're just different. Pick up a 50mm and see what you think. I have a really nice AIS set, and have just expanded my FD set last week when I picked up the 85 1.8, 200 2.8, and 35-105 3.5 My FD's aren't as fast as my Nikkor equivalents, but give me some time this week and I can go grab some comparison footage with each

I have and use the 18-200 3.5-5.6 vr1 on the nikon d7100 and It's great for what it is. I think the compromises you have to make are well worth it for what you get in return. The range is amazing, the VR is really good, even at 200. My copy of the lens will get VR jitters from time to time, like once or twice while filming and zooming for minutes at a time, but nothing extreme, or out of the ordinary. It's not parfocal, but mine holds focus really well actually. I usually just stop down to 5.6 or more and it's great. There is definitely focus breathing at pretty much any focal length beyond 35mm. I don't mind the focus ring on mine, It's not great, but it's nice enough. I just still, after all these years using it, don't like the focus in the back and the zoom in the front. You really have to nail focus at the 200mm end, but it can be nice and sharp if you do. I got mine cheap, but definitely plan to hold onto it as long as I have the camera. And with the VR, I honestly use this lens as much if not more than my 80-200 2.8 ED af

problem with shooting hi slow mo with nx-1
homestar_kevin replied to Omer Sehayek's topic in Cameras
One possibility is DIS. If you have DIS enabled, you can not select the 120fps mode. You need to make sure DIS is turned off or else it will be grayed out in the menu like you're talking about -
This was shot with the d5200. The d5200 and d7100 have a horizontal fixed pattern noise in the blacks. I've been using the d7100 for over 2 years now and sometimes it'll happen very badly, othertimes not so much. It will definitely happen if you're pushing to higher ISOs in low light, but sometimes it can happen in even good light with really dark, shadowy areas. For the d5200 you have, I believe there is a hack which increas the video MBPS rate up and that will take care of it. It seems to be a result of Nikons really low bitrate codec

My most used lens has got to be the Tokina 28-70 2.6-2.8 vII My main primes are all Nikon AI, and I also use the 80-200 2.8 ED as well. I've really been liking how my Canon FD mount lenses have been rendering on the NX1, I've been using the 24 2.8, 50 1.8 and a vivitar series 1 70-200mm 2.8-4 Just picked up a Pre AI Nikko 300mm 4.5 that I need to get out and test more too
-
Nah, I'm just using a cheap Rainbowimaging G to NX adapter. It's been great for me and all my AIS primes and Nikon zooms
-
If you have the Nikon mount sigma, you should be fine. Currently using a Nikon G adapter on my nx1 to use the tokina 11-16 2.8. Mattias, can't wait to see the footage I have a spinning 35mm adapter sitting at the bottom of my closet, let's bring em back!

I want to grab one of the Samsung pancake lenses soon, They all seem to be great and I love what I'm seeing, but I'm not seeing a whole lot from these lenses and the nx-1. nx-1 users, which pancakes have you used, and what did you think? I'm debating picking up the 20mm or 30mm soon.

I'd recommend Neat Video

Problems working with the nx-1 video files
homestar_kevin replied to Omer Sehayek's topic in Cameras
Hey Michael, just finished transcoding some stuff I shot this week. I wanted to wait for have a better real world example to give you a time estimate. I had 24.35 gigs of 24fps UHD footage that I transcoded to 1080p h.264. It was 10 clips, ranging from 300mb to 6 gigs Rocky Mountain transcoded everything is 52 minutes I was getting between 50-66 mbps while transcoding. Not lighting fast, but not terrible either. I have a trashcan Macpro 3.7 quad core with 12gigs of ram, and I'm using 2 thunderbolt enclosures to hold the media
