Bought it. Looks pretty sweet and for the price of a sandwich, I'd say it's worth having around. Thanks for letting us know!

There's a simple button pressing Mod you can do to the g7 to make it record continuously as long as the battery/sd card will allow in any frame rate/quality. It breaks the clips apart at the 4 gig limit, but will continuously record on it's own. I use it to record concerts and theater productions because you can leave it there plugged in

I'm not saying the g85 isn't the better camera g85 being a better value ≠ g7 being a bad value. They can BOTH be good values no?
-
Man I had a good time in those 5 minutes I thought I was on your ignore list.
-
I've typically always shot mine in flattened natural and then adjusted levels in post if needed/desired.

I bought my g7 like 3 years ago for ~$500 and still use it a bunch as an additional angle or wide camera. It's truly been an amazing value for me and continues to be an asset. It is not 'crap' today, it wasn't crap yesterday, it won't be crap tomorrow. It's a great camera that has always been a huge value for the money spent, now it only continues to do so, especially used where it can be had so damn cheap. Is the g85 crap? no Is the g85 a good value? yes Is the g7 crap? no Is the g7 a good value? yes What's the problem here??

?? that's close to a compliment from you. Enjoy

I'm not recommending if OVER the g85, I'm just saying the g7 is still a good camera. If you don't think a ILC that does 4k and can be bought used for ~$250-300 body only isn't a good deal, you're the crazy one. They can both be good cameras, one being better or having more features doesn't make the other one a piece of shit.

Still an extremely capable and awesome camera. It provides an awesome value for what it is. I still use/like mine quite a bit.

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K - GH5S killer?!?!?
homestar_kevin replied to flip21's topic in Cameras
The only consideration is the lack of SD cards that work in the Pocket/Micro cameras and Video Assist. If you look into it you'll see that sandisk 95mbs extreme pro cards are drying up and the newer san disk cards do not work or get recognized by the pocket/micro/video assist. That's the biggest issue/threat to these cameras at this time and there doesn't appear to be help coming from Black magic. All that said, I have 2 pocket camera bodies and love them very much -
Do you have your SD cards sorted out? I just recently bought a second Pocket body really cheap and am now debating the best way forward getting SD cards right now

Moondog is also another provider for a smartphone anamorphic. They all usually come as 1.33x anamorphic adapters and have clip on types as well as one with a threaded back, like 37mm. They're usually found for between $150-200

Find the best video quality for under $200 - fun challenge

I almost bought one of those for this but wanted 24p so I went for another oddity Still a great deal to get that 20mp M43 sensor though. -
Love it, it really does looks great! Already own the tokina and a rangefinder, may have to save up and snag one or the SLR anamorpics.
-
That looks great! this is the SLR magic 2x or 1.33x? These are the ones with the 62mm rear thread? Any clamp or anything, or just a step down ring on the lens?
-
Yeah, from what I remember the 2.6-2.8 was simply labeled 2.8 in lenses for the japanese market. So I know there are versions that are the Angeneuix design but labeled 2.8. There's a lot of layers to it lol

Congrats on the lens! I have the Pro v2 (#3 on the site you linked) and love it. Good start with the cheap Nikon to m43 adapter. For the speedbooster/focal reducer part there are a couple way you could go. Metabones is definitely the top of the line, but the Lens Turbo II is also very good. It's great to have both the cheap plain adapter as well as the focal reducer because it will give you more options with the lens.

Replace my Nx1 with... what? (And what's the current AF champ?)
homestar_kevin replied to M Carter's topic in Cameras
I've kind of gone the other way through the past few years and have pretty much every NX Mount lens in the line up except for the 18-55, 20-55, and 85mm/1.4. Also just picked up an older NX20 Body for $130 shipped. Not great for video, but for stills it's pretty nice. I've also been super pleased with the performance of the NX cameras and plan on keeping/using them until the wheels fall off. I'm interested in one of the newer mirrorless, but mainly for FF stills capability. The nx1 is still awesome and with the h.265 files working natively in Premiere and FCPX it's better than it's ever been. -

I'm in the same boat and plan on riding the NX1 out for a bit longer and possibly grabbing another body as time goes by. I also have a ton of Nikon glass, but pretty much all manual or AF-D Stuff, so I won't get AF on any new camera I buy. Still very interested in the Nikon Z stuff, but am able/happy to wait a bit longer for it all to shake out.
