The Samsung t5 1tb drive is under $200 in the US, not sure where you're located, but that's definitely one of the cheapest plug and play solutions out there. Definitely fast enough to keep up with what I've been doing with them

Find the best video quality for under $200 - fun challenge

Just over budget, but the original rx10 as well, they even gave that one the XAVCS update. I snagged a rx10 at the end of March for $245 during a KEH sale. -
I've been using two Samsung T5 Drives, one 500g one 1TB, for the past year and they've been great! They're insanely tiny.

Find the best video quality for under $200 - fun challenge

Checking back in... Love where this is heading. I think focal reducers should be allowed but again, total camera set up/price combination will be revealed at some point and I think we all need to factor that in and keep it as cheap as possible to be in the spirit of the competition. I've had fun looking around at bodies already, there seem to be a bunch of options right on the border line of that price, so I think we should get some good results. Fun to think about -

Love the idea and would definitely be interested. I think one of the cheapest/best options in the US right now is the NEX5n coming in around $100-120. What do you guys think about using support/grip gear we already have? Or do we want to do mainly static shots, focusing on composition and scene selection? With the sony stuff, would I be allowed to use a lens turbo or manual lenses I already have, or do we want to do like $250 for total set up, camera & lens? A lot of questions to answer to form this into something translatable to members all over the world, but it has potential to be a lot of fun and exactly what this forum should be doing. Lets shoot some pretty shit. -
Over the past year or so I've been going down the cheap, long telephoto rabbit hole and have come out with some really nice lenses. But for m4/3 I think my favorite has been the Panasonic 100-300mm mki. It gets hit on reviews for it's slow AF, but it still has AF which I look at as a bonus anyway. In practice, the af has been pretty good on my gx85 and g7 for stills, I haven't used it in video really. It has the same optics as the 100-300 mkii, it has IS, it's small and light for what it is, and I got one used for right around $300

Whoa Whoa Whoa, Let's not do anything crazy like count the number of lenses we own. No one wants to go through that ?? Everybody Be cool.

Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

They're actually pretty great for what they are, or at least I've enjoyed them. -

yeah, hard not to be bulky when slapping a 600mm f/4 on the front. the fs700 and recorder combo is big, but it's definitely manageable when you have proper camera support. No doubt the fs5 has the advantage there. Still, for 4k slowmo, the fs700 is still pretty bad ass when recording externally. More than enough camera for what I'm doing. Also, to go the other way, here's the fs700 with the Pentax 110 24mm 2.8 lens on it, just for shits and giggles -

This time last year I couldn't resist anymore when I saw an fs700u pop up for very cheap. I snagged it and have slowly been acquiring the kit pieces that it was missing as it came without accessories. Need to send it into Sony to have is R upgraded and I'm keeping an eye on Shogun Infernos, especially now that the new shogun has come out as well. -
I'm glad this new smaller one exists if only to drive down the cost of the other Rodelink system. I just snagged an open box one for $210 on ebay.

Some copies of the Canon FD 35-105 are parfocal.

The 110 lenses are great. I have the 18, 24, 50, and 70 and they're all worth getting if you can. The 70mm is a little pricey compared to the rest, but still can be had for less than the cost of the RJ adapter. I bought the RJ adapter and it's nice, but mine is currently broken. If you look at the picture of the rear of the adapter, you'll see 2 silver screws. Those screws are the only thing holding the front/mount part of the adapter onto the base and those two screws fell out on mine. I have not been able to replace them as of yet, but I had a aperture less 110 adapter and have just been using that.

POLL - Had you ever heard of the show Empire before this month?
homestar_kevin replied to kaylee's topic in Cameras
I'd be interested to see the location of the voters as well, is this show available/broadcast outside of the US? -
It's crazy but awesome how much stuff can affect the image on this camera. I always thought the OLED Color only tied to the LCD screen as well. Thanks for putting the work in on this one, I'll have to check it out. I don't have a fuji, but being able to match Eterna is pretty awesome

The best lens! Enjoy

I have been using the Gini Monitor Arm for a few years, and it's OK. Not great, but not expensive either. I usually use it with a smallHD dp4 or dp6 monitors with Sony NPF batteries on them. The arm is fine for the dp4, but gets a little unwieldy with the dp6. I got mine with a bunch of other rig components, but it costs about $40 on it's own. I like it, I wish it were beefier and longer, but not long like I've seen other magic arms. If you guys find some good ones, please post here. I'm definitely interested in picking up another one going forward.

I still have and love my original pocket. It's taken so long to kit it out with all the accessories and find out what set ups work best for me, but man is it awesome when you do. I have and use the Hoya IR Cut filter and that has been absolutely awesome. It seemed to be the consensus pick on BMCuser and it's been great to me. The first thing to do with the camera is figuring out a battery solution. I have the smallrig Sony NP-f Battery adapter that has been great for me because I use so many of those batteries, but figuring out which battery solution works best for you is an important place to start when dealing with the pocket camera

I think Black Panther is fine, I don't love it, but I didn't hate it as much as you seem to. I said it deserves the nomination, not the win. I'd take Blade 1 or 2 over BP or pretty much any super hero movie any day, but if you can't see the historical difference between Meteor Man and Black Panther you're really not looking hard enough. Why not throw in Blankman?
-
Black Panther Deserves the nominations it got IMO. It was a huge movie in a bad year for movies. I think the bigger issue for this oscars for me is the snubs like Eighth Grade and Sorry to Bother You not getting nominated and If Beale Street Could Talk not getting nominated for enough. But at the same time, at least The Favourite got a best picture Nom.

oh man, people are surprised BM is having a slow roll out? ?? This is their move. The cameras are great, but man is it going to take you awhile to get one

Yeah, I'm aware, I'm not sure that changes Kye's reservations or situation about buying from them in AUS. I'm also not sure if you get their 180 day warranty when purchasing through ebay. Either way, KEH is good people and I spend too damn much there.
