  1. Yes, you need to have a battery internally in the camera. They sony battery adapter then charges the internal battery, like it would look if the camera was plugged into a wall outlet charging. The battery plate isn't big, I don't like the location of the 1/4 20 screw hole, but it's a minor complaint and the product is defintiely worth it for me. I haven't noticed any swelling or any real downsides to speak of with it. I mainly use the BM branded battery inside the camera when using the battery adapter.
  2. I have the sony battery adapter you just linked to and it's definitely worth picking up. I already had a lot of the sony batteries from LED lights and my Konova slider set up, so it was a no brainer for my pocket camera to be able to use all these batteries I already had. It's made a huge difference in the usability prospects of the pocket. The one I own/you linked to has been pretty good. Not the best to rig up, but I've certainly seen people using crazier/more inconvenient solutions. I like that it charges the pockets internal battery too, so if you wanted to be more mobile and unplug from the battery adapter and go more hand held, you can do this and your battery will be charged for the times you want to do it. I have 1 BM battery and around 5 offbrand ones, but the sony battery pack was definitely the way to do. Rig it up to your cage and you're good to go all day.
  3. Yeah, pretty much all the youtube comments on edelkrone stuff is like that. I don't really understand why, but people are just a bit spoiled maybe. It's the same sentiment for the Wing and some of their other products. I don't really find them to be overpriced when you consider what they are. They're unique products with pretty original designs and seem very cool for what they are. I have seen nothing of the motorized slider one, but I'll be keeping more of an eye out for it now.
  4. I've wanted one of these since they came out. Just checked the edelkrone website, and it looks like they added a motor/timelapse module to work with the sliderONE. Has anyone checked this out? https://www.edelkrone.com/us/p/512/sliderone I've always wanted one, but man, I want one even more now. That is really really cool.
  5. You should try one of the simple rubber folding lens hoods. You can buy them in pretty much any mm diameter, my tokina 28-70mm is 77mm front filter size, so I got one of those. It should definitely help
  6. I also have both S lenses and man, the 50-150 is so good. Grab one if you can, it's great. It's also lightweight for a telephoto zoom.
  7. Nah, the 50-150 S sold out from them very fast last year, I couldn't buy it from them. I had tried, but it was backordered and the backorder was never fulfilled. I ended up grabbing a 50-150 S at b&h right when they discontinued everything.
  8. Great work here guys! If you guys are after the 16-50s, I just wanted to point out that it looks like samsungparts still has some of them. If you guys remember that dpreview thread with all the lenses being available for cheap from the samsung parts site, some of those deals are still available. The 16-50s is $800 new. There is no lens hood included, though it can be ordered separately for like $16 if i remember. This is how I got my 16-50 when this was first brought to light. Here's the link if anyone wants it http://www.samsungparts.com/Products/Parts_and_Accessories/PID-AD97-23876A.aspx Seemingly sketchy site, but I've bought multiple lenses from them and have had good experiences.
  9. The c500 is now 6995 at b&h Did that discount just happen today or have I been asleep. That seems like a great deal
  10. Man, that's really a shame. Not just because I've enjoyed a lot of his posts, but also because I had vauguely considered PMing him about the same rangefinder. Always sucks to see it in your own back yard, hopefully this gets solved quickly and absolutely.
  11. I ran into a pretty bad color shift on a project I'm working on. It's a rock opera live production with mixed stage lighting from fresnel to LED. I used my nx1 and 50-150 and the combo held up great. We filmed two shows over the course of two Saturdays. First week I left my nx1 in AWB+Tungsten, which is where I leave it a good chunk of the time. Obviously that was the wrong setting for such a mixed environment. Over the course of the 2 1/2 hour production I have like 3-4 spots in the footage where it turns completely green, like only the green channel is recording. It happened mainly on CU shots in strong red lighting, and it went away when I would zoom the lens out/take in more of the scene. Again we're talking probably 3-4, 5-10 second clips in a 2 1/2 hour live production so not the end of the world, but still a concern. Went back to shoot the second show this Saturday and used a preset WB and didn't have any issues like that at all. So a bit of an odd one, but definitely user error in my case.
  12. ^Nice haul, Mattias, I'm still getting all of them sorted out for use on the pocket cam, but I recently got a haul of C-mount lenses including that same Fujinon 12.5 f/1.4 Also came with: Fujinon 25mm 1.4, Cosmicar 8.5mm 1.8, Cosmicar 12.5mm 1.8 Excited to see how they all do.
  13. I think a lot of people in the US would love to find a deal like either of those too.
  14. What modifications have to be done to the 12.5 and the 6.5?
  15. You always use the 11-16mm numbers, so on m43 it's a ~22-32mm. The lens actually does work/cover on FF as well, but only at 16mm
  16. I haven't used it personally, but have always been temped by that one and the updated 12-28 f/4. If you don't need the speed, then I think they're good
  17. The tokina 28-70 2.6-2.8 has been my main workhorse lens for the past 5 years or so and I still love it. I have the nikon 80-200mm 2.8 ED and would like to get the nikon 28-70 at some point as well, but I really have a hard time going away from the tokina. It's a very nice lens to use. I've also gotten the canon FD 35-105mm 3.5 that was mentioned in this thread as well and I really like that a lot too. The lens feels really good and I like having a bit more range on the tele end. That lens is definitely worth the money and can be had cheap.
  18. It's a classic lens. Not really a huge zoom range or anything, but what it does give you is phenomenal
  19. Still rocking the 11-16 2.8 v1, which can be had very cheap used now. I'm tempted to upgrade to the 11-20. but haven't been motivated enough to do it yet, as the 11-16 is still great for me, and don't want to deal with the 82mm front thread.
  20. Nice DIY, looks simple enough. Kino knock offs and Kino Flo true match tubes work great for me and are so cheap at this point they're essentially disposable. I like them and they've worked great for me over the years.
  21. I don't have brand loyalty to any store really. I like b&h and do look/shop there a lot, but I shop just as much from places like Adorama, Amazon, Ebay, Best Buy, a few local Baltimore stores from time to time. Whoever has what I want for the best price/availability wins, no need to look into it much more than that for me.
  22. Yeah man, I emailed because of your thread! Now we're on the Ballot!!! Good work dude,
  23. Are you open to going back to Nikkors or Canon FDs or Takumars? I know you've had the lot of them I still have all my AIS lenses and love them, but one I'd recommend for you to check out is the Nikkor 55mm 2.8 macro. That's probably my favorite lens Also look into the Olympus Zuiko OM mount stuff. I love the colors/coating on those and they're tiny.
  24. Voted! Really hope this comes through, though I was already impressed with their customer service when emailing them earlier asking for NX1 support. Good stuff all around
