  1. It is the best DSLR but the best 4k video camera so far is the NX1 IMO, with the a7sII coming close 2nd.
  2. Maybe im biased because of the NX1, but this doesnt look good at all. The D500 seems outdated, and something that should cost 1000$ less, idk why they thought it would be ok to have 2.1x crop. The D5, as incredible as it will certainly be for stills, doesnt look good in video, I dont care for the 3 min limit, since I usually record short clips, but the image is simply not there, and judging from some clips and even the thumbnail, the DR looks quite terrible. The image lacks detail, looks muddy, and if anyone told me "This clip is from the D800" Id still think its a bad clip, since i've seen the D800 do much better.
  3. Another re-edit : I realized, I stopped taking pictures almost completely, and instead use only framegrabs...The quality is simply outstanding, and quite honestly, the gap between photo and video has become so thin, its barely noticeable.
  4. Exacly the same settings and lut as I posted earlier.
  5. Some wine store I found, the christmas display was gorgeous so I just had to film it. This was graded with my previous settings that I posted (the wedding one), barely had to tweak !
  6. This is exacly it, I really appreciate it, this makes all the dif. in the world !
  7. Hi everyone, As most of you know by now, Im an avid user of the NX1, specifically for video, however, I photograph on a daily basis as a hobby. For the most part im extremelly happy with the NX1 as a stills camera, however, coming from an OVF, im still getting used to the EVF. This might be a "silly" question, but, my EVF does not show exacly how my still will end up looking, I mean, if I change settings (aperture/shutter speed), it does not give me a real preview of what im getting, instead gives me what the camera thinks I should see. Is there a way to change this ? Are all EVFs like this, and this is common practice ? wouldnt it be better if it gave real preview of what im capturing ?
  8. These look stunning ! Gotta try some new settings !
  9. That is a huge compliment, im a big fan of Blooms work and how he grades his footage. My look is slightly more punchy, in the end of the day its a wedding and needs some sort of "happy" or "joyfull" appeal. But I can see similarities, indeed, which is a great thing, he has always been a professional I look up on. I think the quality we get from consumer cameras nowadays (not only the nx1 but others), is astounishing, and you dont really need to spend much money to make your footage look professional, or refined. These are happy days for film making !
  10. Its a simple video, well graded, well shot, captures the essence of the place, so I dont see anything wrong with it. Kinda makes me wanna go to Cuba and give it a shot ! I've been to Venezuela, which has a similar "vibe", but back then I didnt film :/
  11. Thank you so much, it really means a lot =) I havent been doing color grading for too long, and the NX1 is my first "pro/enthusiast" camera, I used the Canon 600D for about 1,5 years. I think with the NX1, its a matter of time, you need to get around its quirks, get to know its flaws, and most people just didnt bother to explore it enough. A few pages back (I think it was this topic) we were talking about limiting yourself with gear (lenses), and I think that is the best way to evolve and progress, and the same goes for cameras, I cant afford to buy more than one camera, so when I spend 1500€ on a camera, I need to learn how to come out with the best product I possibly can, because I cant get enough money to buy another camera.
  12. Heres some before and after, so you can understand how i've been exposing. These were with the grade on top, without further tweak, ill reduce the yellow/orange sat. and correct the color balance. On both, I pulled either the exposure or the shadows up a bit. (this ballroom reminded me of titanic !) As you can see, they're just slightly underexposed to avoid the clipping.
  13. Wow such great response I too was impressed, this is my fav grading so far, its quite filmic, with enough punch, it looks quite good when playing ! I used Gamma DR with the settings above. I do underexpose, not by a lot, but just enough to save all the highlights without having any clipping. I dont look at the metering, I just set my exposure by eye, so I dont know if I do by 1 stop or 2 stops, just make sure you're not clipping those highlights.
  14. Heres my settings for the camera on these shots : Saturation -2 // Sharpness - 10 // Contrast - 3 // Master black level 8 // 16-235 // For these frames I used the Canon 50mm f1.8 and Samyang 24mm f1.4. As for the grading, I used no input lut, just the Sunderland (deluts) Lut at 100% // Fade 44 and Sharpen at 18,5 (though I will decrease this) ! As for the curves go, heres an image of how it looks, notice I also lowered a bit of saturation on the yellows and reds : Heres a few more shots with this grading : Some of these will require noise reduction, some are shot at 1080p others at 4k, and I will probably tweak further. I find this grading very versatile, it fits mosty of my shots with little to no tweaking, outside, inside, church with those terrible lights and all that. Hope you guys like it
  15. Looks very good ! I love cuban themed works, such a great vibe !
  16. hey, glad everyone liked it Ill share my camera settings as well as grading settings and Lut when I get home from work =)
  17. Heres some new ones of a wedding im editting right now, theres still some stuff to fix on the curve, reduce the sharpness and will probably add some grain, but here it is : Let me know what you guys think !
  18. I just got a Tascam Dr-05 V2 and am quite pleased with it, thought I havent tested it enough, but I prefer the tascam over the ZoomH1.
  19. Even for 300$ I'd find it expensive, it should not cost more than 200$, and even then, i'd have 0 interest in this, I bought the Samsung 30mm f2.0 for 150€ and that has full AF and great sharpness...We can get better optics for much less and the "Mods" are useless pieces of plastic. This is doomed since the design stage which is quite flawed.
  20. I dont doubt they will, specially when asking 800$ for each lens and having a goal of 600,000$. I think they got way way way too greedy, and they should avoid showing vintage lenses or even mentioning it, considering there is better lenses for 10x less the price.
  21. 899$ for that ? They must be CRAZY ! Theire mods are no dif. than most filters that we can put infront of a regular lens, for that price (and they even mention it on the video) I could get tens of vintage glass, or go for an Art lens + lens baby or something, this is doomed to be a failure at that pricetag.
  22. Yeah, this couple was lovely, easily my favorite couple so far (havent been doing this for too long), and they seem to be very inlove, which makes everything easier to do!
  23. I payed 1350€ If they were 630€ here, I'd have bought 2
