First footage from Leica S (Typ 007) Medium Format
ricardo_sousa11 replied to sudopera's topic in Cameras
It doesnt look Medium Format, which is weird, I dont really like the footage at all, it looks amateurish, need to see another video... -
When I get home Ill try and match the look and then give you the settings, you can, I took some contrast off to make it look more "Vsco'ish" and the added grain/fade makes it less contrasty as well.

http://imgur.com/a/xsCNN This is na edit im currently using for a wedding, its slightly dif. from the look from the movie but what I believe you want/need is either Filmconvert, or Luts (Osíris for exemple), the look of the film seems pretty simple to get.

New EOSHD setup guide gives Samsung NX1 LOG capability and more
ricardo_sousa11 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Just graded (quick 1 minute grade) a clip of my last wedding (first job with the NX1), without this LOG, will later use the log to grade and see how it differs. Im still pretty noob at grading, still trying to learn how to grade with LUTs, curves and all that, but this camera..its just amazing what comes out of it...trully something incredible. This was shot with the Canon f1.8 at f1.8. The colors are still a bit off, skin looks a bit greyish and what not. -

These look absolutely gorgeous ! Will have to try out these settings ! -
That app looks sick ! wish I had an Iphone !

Dedicated vídeo modes for C1 and C2 please.... ! This isnt asking much.

Its an amazing look IMO, when I first saw through the viewfinder of a Hassleblad, I felt the same way. It makes the image incribly "3D" for lack of a better word, great separation between subject and background, soft looking bokeh, giving it almost a Brenizer effect. The color does seem to be a bit off, a bit overblown on the highlights, but an amazing image non the less.

LUT Plugin for VEGAS is finally here !!
ricardo_sousa11 replied to ricardo_sousa11's topic in Cameras
I keep asking myself that, they make cameras that shoot LOG and then dont support them, But to be fair there hasnt been any new version of Vegas in quite some time, im sure next one should have it. Idk, havent tested it yet, will test today, it would be great if we could apply both. -
For those of you (like me) that love editing in Vegas, it finally has LUT support ! You can simply download it here : http://vision-color.com/lutplugin/ Havent tested it myself, but will asap. I've always preferred Vegas to Premiere, so this is a huge deal for me.

This also happened to me, changed it to full range.

I honestly dont see any of the choppyness you guys talk about on the NX1. The video is choppy while recording, its choppy while playing back in camera, but not when vieweing on a computer or online.

Wow, you dont know how happy I got after checking this ! Will certainly get it asap ! -
I think you just had really really bad luck with those, Samyang are known for having some faulty lenses. I have a 24mm f1.4 and its an amazing lens, I use it mainly at 1.4, where it is indeed kind of soft, but a nice soft, step it to f2.0 and the lens is incredibly sharp.

You're right ! It wasnt -10, the settings where : Normal Gamma -5 Saturation, -10 detail - 5 contrast. You do get a sort of "Magenta/green" hue over the footage, but disapears after grading, quite honestly I think it has a very very cinematic feel, I dont thing it needs grading with those settings. Im still getting used to this camera, specially to the screen, I feel like while recording, I need to underexpose by quite a lot, but when I get home the footage is incredible and well exposed, I may need to fine tune the little amoled screen. I will be opening a new thread this week, with all sorts of tests on the NX1 with lots of lens combos/settings. I agree with Andrew Reid, I went for the NX1 after reading all of his articles and hes spot on. If I could afford the A7RII, I'd probably go for that one, the 1DC, as amazing camera as it is, I dont think it justifies for the price. I bought the NX1 for 1470€ (was the cheapest I could find, but its way cheaper in the US it seems) + 50€ for Canon/Nikon Adapters + 900€ for a new editting computer, all of this for still under 1k€ what the A7RII costs. Im still hopefull someone comes up with a speedbooster for the NX1, that would be simply amazing, and would be too hard to do. Andrew Reid, since you have lots of gear, would it be possible to test any speedbooster+adapter on the NX1 ? Idk because of the distance if it would work, but its worth a test.

The Nx1 has amazing video quality, heres 2 frame grabs from a 4k video from the NX1 (taken from facebook, cuz I lost the original files). Ungraded, straight from the camera (once again, taken from Facebook, so its compressed by facebook). I was using the Canon 50mm f1.8 at the time, camera settings were Normal Gamma, -10 sat. -10 sharpenning. You really cant get any better, specially for the price...I had a Canon 600D, and its just another league, even comparing to the D800 video mode, the only thing I'd love would be a Speedbooster to make it "Full-Frame", that would make these cameras sell like hot buns !
-
I would just like to see less jitter while recording, it looks very choppy while using the LCD, even though while playing back doesnt look as bad. Considering this camera has an amazing processor, it would be great to have 4k/UHD @ 60p but idk how realistic expecting such a feature would be. I'd be glad if I could choose C1 for 4k and C2 for 1080p video dedicated modes on the dials.
-
But is there a way to record and playback in 0.25x ? or it can only be done in post ?
-
Will check then. Another thing, have they removed the 0.25x slow mo option ?! When I chose 120fps (or 100) theres only 0.5 speed and not 0.25x as I've seen on some videos.
-
Yesterday I was fiddling a bit more with the settings, I now have Saturation -1, Contrast -5, Sharpness -10, Gama DR, MBL +10. Im gonna do some extensive testing on settings/lut/grading and then ill share with you guys.
-
Well, it seems that the problem was fixed by switching to PAL and keeping 25,50,100 shutter speed ! Now theres one thing bugging me is that, when im filming 4k 24p (aside form the liveview being very choppy, but I think thats normal ?!) when Im filming, it seems to show much more contrast than after the video has been recorded (even playing back form the viewfinder), is that some sort of setting ? It makes it harder to expose correctly, having the higher contrast makes me believe shadows will be too dark, when in fact they arent.
