  1. I am not looking to get a Windows laptop. I am solely looking at upgrading my MacBook Pro of 6 years with something more powerful to handle Final Cut Pro X better. I am not a gamer so confused by the link? I am just looking to see what MacBook Pro 13 or maybe 15 can handle GH4 or G7 footage with ease as told it is CPU dependent for the crunching? I am looking into the second hand market hence saw the i7 Mid 2014 MBPr 13. Any one using a machine of similar nature?
  2. Hi, I am looking to upgrade my ageing MacBook Pro and have come across the following: Mid 2014 MacBook Pro Retina 13 i7 3.0 Dual Core, 16GB Ram, 512GB SSD and Intel HD 5100 GFX. It should handle D750 1080p footage with ease? Will this one cope well with any 4K Final Cut Pro X editing from GH4 or G7 footage in the future? Thanks. Red
  3. Thanks Ebrahim. Your input is always appreciated. I had thought about jumping to a Micro Four Thirds system but my investment in Nikon and it's low light ability for indoor events is second to none so thinking about a second body. I always dial in a kelvin number and the D5500 not having one means can't quickly match during shoots. I hadn't paid much thought to the D7200 but have started to notice it doesn't have the omissions the D5500 has. What lenses did you have on the D7200? I usually shoot 25p for DVD but good to know you rate the 60p as one of the best. I always assumed the crop made the image a tad soft? I will experiment with the crop on my D750 as haven't really used it.
  4. This seems an ideal set-up for small parties and birthdays? Looking at getting two for an A and B cam. Those lenses sound great as can experiment with the focus peaking.
  5. I was all set to get choose between an LX100 or RX100 but swaying towards the G7 now! I previously had a G3 and this looks like a big step up. @Cinegain I thought you typed kittens and was like Lumix Kittens
  6. If anyone is looking into a Panasonic G7 now might be the time! Panasonic DMC-G7 and 14-42 kit lens available from Amazon, Jessops, Currys, LCE etc... £200 cashback from Panasonic.Cashback runs from November 18th to December 6th. 7. Thanks for the post @Deadcode. I haven't been able to decide between the RX100/2/3/4 or the LX100 for a while but hoping to pick one up before the year is out. I have a D750 as my main camera and just wanted something small to capture family moment of my little one growing up and possibly as a B-Cam for my Nikon. I just wanted something I can hand to anyone or pack in the day bag to capture any spontaneous be it photo or video. I would go used on the LX100 (around £350) or the older RX100 (M1 £160, M2 £200, M3 £350) but the M4 would have to be new (£600) as not many about. Any recommendations on a gimbal also? Thanks.
  8. Is the MK2 still worth picking up? I have found one for under £200 and wondering can it still shoot decent footage against the likes of the newer ones or LX100?
  9. Great footage on Weymouth. Visited last summer but it rained! Great to see the LX100 excelling. Where did you pick up the Beholder MS1 from and how much was it? I am still deciding between the RX100 and LX100 as my pocket camera.
  10. Does the D5500 allow manual WB Kelvin control? Was finally in the market for a B-Cam for the D750 and wondering what to pair it with. D5500/D7200 or stump up for a FF Nikon.
  11. Thank you for your reply @lattiboy. Cheers for the info about the face detection and wide modes. It will mainly be to shoot family moments. I had looked at the Panasonic X900 and X920 camcorders but the RX100 M4 seems to kill two birds with one stone as long as it nails quick enough focus so when playing back isn't always hunting. The striking a match video looks very good. I can already see how the slow motion can add decent value to shoots.
  12. Any more news on the autofocus in video mode? I was looking at a camcorder but the M4 for photo and video seems more logical in a smaller package . I am just worried the M4 just hunts in auto focus mode. I just want to pick up the camera and hit shoot to capture the toddler doing something and want it to focus properly if there is movement in the scene? Could anyone please give any insight into the video auto focus. I manually focus my D750 for everything but wanted something for family time that can hand to anyone to capture video snippets. Thanks
  13. -The codec and colours are so clean and sleek, everything is so well delivered for upload and slight tweaks look great. This is why I have liked shooting with Nikon's and always fall short of jumping to something else. It gets you a decent image for events shooting whereby skin tones matter and DOF gets you some engaging shots for the audience.
  14. Glad to see the D750 still getting some appreciation. Have been using mine for a while and like the Nikon colour science. For next year I do need another body and may consider the D5500 or it's successor.
  15. Is the RX100 IV locked to NTSC or PAL depending on where purchased from or can the frame rates be changed 25/30/50/60?
  16. I haven't purchased the RX100 IV yet as was wary about it being the right tool for the job which is to capture family moments for both photo and video and get me into the world of Sony. Thanks for the information about pre-auto focus activated. Am I right in thinking I can then shoot freely and the auto focus should be decent? I can also then depress the shutter to gain focus again if I want to?
  17. The autofocus continously autofocuses everything is making me a bit wary to capture quick and spontaneous family things. I don't mind manual focus or taking time to compose but sometimes you just want to hit record and then capture the moment or if a lot if happening in the scene I don't want it to keep hunting or tracking the wrong thing. Am I asking too much from the RX100? I just want to get away from using the D750 for personal stuff.
  18. Great review and content as always Andrew. How good is the autofocus? I am looking for something to capture family moments and my toddler growing up. I could get a camcorder but the RX100 IV offers a lot more. Also how well would it merge with Nikon D750 footage if I used the Sony as a B-Cam and locked it off on wides? Thanks.
  19. How well could the LX100 match colour with the Nikon D750? A total nightmare or good enough for LX100 wide shots and in 4k > 1080p on the timeline?
  20. I was looking at the A6000 or the RX100 M3 but that price has swayed me towards the LX100 for family outings to capture photos and small video snippets when not wanting to cart around the heavier Nikon gear.
  21. I have also decided to get the LX100 and see what all the fuss is about You can get it here for £340 after cashback!
  22. How has the D5500 been Inazuma? I am enjoying the D750 and looking for a second body. I would have to give up the power aperture and auto iso in video along with the FF look but it will mainly be for a B-Cam that is unmanned or controlled via WiFi. I am thinking of pairing it with the Nikon 35 1.8 and Nikon 24-120 F4.

Does anyone shoot with the Tamron 24-70 VC? What do you think of it? I am pondering whether to sell my current Nikon 24-70 and go for the Tamron 24-70 and 70-200 for the VC. I recently got the 24-120 for my D750 and discovered how good the VR can be.
  24. Great to see you have the D5500 Inazuma. I look forward to hearing more about it when you get the time to put it through it's paces. You've certainly paired it with a monster of a lens with the Sigma 18-35mm.
  25. A great read on your blog Inazuma about your experiences with the Nikon and Panasonic. The Nikon does deliver on skin tones and overall look which I always find very pleasing. Look forward to your thoughts on the D5500 post purchase. I will be pairing the D5500 with the D750 once funds allow soon.
