  1. Well, duh ... however, the sheer volume of data is still not close to RX100mk5's 24fps 20mpx RAW files. Who knows what kinds of line skipping or cropping d850 will use in this mode
  2. So is this with RAW? RAW video with no audio possible? There is also the question of aspect ratio.
  3. Are they going to rebrand Sony a99II? Lots of hype for something already on the market.
  4. Light posted 3 more than 50mpx images at the bottom: http://www.light.co/gallery People posted unboxing photos to LightRumors FB page, bu won't share samples, since it is a beta release? weird stuff
  5. They probably fear deflection to the a7RIII due sometime next year. Sony has the pieces to put out a monster high-resolution body, now that a9 has been released. Maybe they will even share the same sensor and Sony will get to use it some months before d850 comes out.
  6. Development announcements make sense for products with 5 years cycles (communism much?), aka DSLR dinosaurs, when their competitors have reduced the product cycle drastically. Also 8K timelapse is a big announcement joke, since d800 can already do it.
  7. If anyone has not seen the officially released 20mp images (noisy stuff):
  8. The camera was reported as shipping 4 days ago and still no samples or even an unboxing video ... this has important smartphone implications - a few less modules (get rid of 150mm) and it would fit in a bigger screen phone. So far, multiple camera phones haven't really done anything all that impressive. Hopefully, Samsung brings something good to the table, since they are late to this party.
  9. is that nimwit wearing multiple bracelets with the name of his blog? have some decency
  10. Why don't you buy a Sony a99mkII like, NOW? Should be durable enough.
  11. The internet can be a awful place and it is impossible to police it. Just accept the fact that video oriented consumers don't look at dpreview and take a breather. Fake news, advertorial and all that. It has happened to print and it is taking over the professional web media. Independent media can live a hobby or a click bait conspiracy machine aka that fro guy that started this whole banding debacle (for ad money of course). Schools should probably implement classes so we can spot bias and secret interest in all types of media online or offline. This is not your battle to win.
  12. That was so amazing, I loved all the detail. The more pixels, the merrier for me.
  13. Same old Canon strategy, which is a bit of a surprise after the C200 announcement. However, they still have a monopoly in a shrinking market and they are very unlikely to fail for at least a couple of years. Most DSLR purchases are just a better-point-and-shoot kind of mentality - just like someone buying an SUV over a minivan so he can park on the pavement more easily, but never really use it for offroad driving. 6DmkII may loose thousands of sales due to disappointed video PROs, but it will gain tens of thousands of regular consumers, ready for the big toys (that are easy to use due to dual pixel AF and swivel screen). Imagine a sales guy in a consumer electronic store getting yelled at by a customer who cannot believe he would sell him a camera that takes video that he can't even playback on his laptop or tablet and takes an eternity to upload or even eats ups his whole data plan and fills his paltry 16gb card in a pinch.
  14. Looks like S-LOG is coming via FW update: http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/digglloyd-claims-sony-a9-patternbanding-noise-iso-100/

    DJI SPARK

Here's an idea: attach a small parachute to this AER dart and get a smooth areal video.
  16. How are we still discussing the card brand? Two fatal mistakes were made (removal midst writing and no backup card in the second slot) and any brand can fail. Anecdotally, a coworker of mine said he had to replace a SanDisk SD card multiple times under warranty and he is not a power-user at all. The topic should be renamed, the conclusion written in the first post and the thread should be locked. This is a witch hunt.
  17. Anecdotal evidence cannot be a basis of overall brand reputation (I never used Lexar, but also never heard anything good/bad about them). In hindsight, you should've used the dual card slots for their intended purpose. Sorry for your loss, hopefully we can all learn a valuable lesson here.
  18. Backup infected files? Your backup must be made before the attack.
  19. CR3 = 100% true, SAR has rating going up to 5
  20. I was a Canon shooter in the beginning (complete novice, got a cheap used rebel and built from there) and used to check Canon Rumors a lots. Since then I switched to Sony and SAR, but I do occasionally check Canon rumors (to see which pieces of reviews they point out versus which ones are pointed out by SAR) and today I saw this: http://www.canonrumors.com/sony-a9-mirrorless-camera-now-available-for-preorder/ CR offering preorder link for a direct competitor body! Ouch. AFAIK CR should be doing alright from their affiliate links and loads of traffic, so this seems like a very risky move, but also a good indicator of the A9's importance (as a photo body).
  21. 12mpx, 4K60fps, PDAF, A9 body (battery, dual card slot, extra controls) etc., electronic shutter, but artificially limited FPS to something less than 20, possibly a full size HDMI and some other port instead of ethernet and flash ports on the A9
  22. Screen does not dim when 4K recording according to Max Yuryev. 1.2x crop for 30p, dpreview twitter, I think.
  23. 6K downsampled to 4K. That's a big deal.
  24. The most interesting part about the rumor is that it was first posted on Canon rumors, giving their competitor quite some free publicity. In related news, a Sony XZ Premium phone prototype was spotted in a pawn shop in Romania. Anyway, a few stolen prototypes are nothing to cry about - in the worst case scenario you still have all the press material online etc.
