Math would be my best friend. No more cams for me. Doing the math, I need to sell some. Got a red GM5 with a black 12 to 32mm couple weeks ago. Such a beauty. Cute lil flash and black leather camera case. Time to snap some pictures around the city and have some og ice cream!π

Even a new version of the 1 inch sensor LX15 with 10 bit and full sensor 4k 60p would be super appealing. A larger focussing ring, Evf and bit bigger grip, perfect pocket cinema camera. With Pdaf all for 799 it would sell like crazy. Gh5 in Gx85 body, kye and I have been preaching that for a long time. Bring it on, Pana. I just bought your big ole S1H. Selling the S1 though.π

This is my favorite video of yours! @markr041 You got much closer to the subjects and your compositions are really engaging me to watch. The colours are dethroning the sterile palette of the expensive gear which you have tested before. I like em. Remind me of some nice GH1, GH2, 5D2 vibe. Now keep that closeness to your subjects and throw in some tele shots of them with a second focal length and than you will have me watch your video more than once! Great vibe in that park and first time for me that I felt like being there. Now please, tell us a bit more about that lil cam. One inch sensor, right? Focal lenght(s)? Internal NDs, how many and how many stops? Thanks and cheers π

@basil_555Awesomeπ You are the og poster of original Cinealta F3 thread. Congratulations on the kewlest camera thread in the universe!:) Erik Naso has done a nice test with the lens i think on the site hdwarrior iirc. On the positive side, mechanics, modern image, range, lens stabi. But you might already know that from your own testing. If you like the results with your setup, keep filming. I have an F3 and havent filmed other than some tests with it but i will keep it. Love its output. If you want a similar quality and you do ENG or minidocs etc, the tiny FS5 might cut it. Or the classic hit cam, the FS7. Plus a F4 18 to 110mm lens. Which has half the range but two times the price of your lens. F3 with external recording still smokes a FX30 for cinema image quality imho. Just like a Varicam smokes a S1H.

@IronFilmDavid, from the other side of the world, did you check out a Leica M to FZ adapter for some additional lens nerdom? I don't know if you hear me. Anyway, best to you, cheers

Haha, awesome, after all those years!!! Thanks for joining the forum and dropping by!

That's really something. Thanks for posting. @Matt Kieley How are built and mechanics, focus throw from mid to long distance, how is sharpness for long distance shots? FS5 has a 2K mode 2048x1080? Tempting little shooter! Does it show aliasing? Fs700 has moire in 2k raw and aliasin with internal 1080p. Anyway lovely post and lens. Thank you for sharing!

S1 and S1H should provide less mush and more detail at high isos than A7s3 or Fx3 afaik from online tests. Though I graded some FX3 material at ISO 6400 and it looked great regarding color and being without recognizeable mush. But so does the Lumix S series of cameras. For size, timecode, full hdmi, reliabilty, frame rates and overall image quality the FX3 is if course a compelling camera though. I loved how it responded in grading.

@MrSMWYour dreams could possibly come true in any way regarding the ultimate hybrid as Panny (not me:) has filed a patent for an electronic ND in a S1H like camera body. Funny enough, your love for the S1H made me get one myself last week as I did not fall for my S1, which I will sell. S1H was a short but instant love when I held one in my hand three years ago. And your perspective on the camera left its marks on me as well. Now owning one myself I must say, indeed, it's a beautiful camera. On/Off switch is a bit of an akward design choice. I was hoping to find a 2x Digizoom for video like on the GH5 or GX85 ( which one can get for 250 USD used btw). But no luck as of now with a cropped mft mode. Anyway, that ND patent appears to promise an extraordinary video dream machine. FF 60p, electronic ND, Pdaf and Dual Gain sensor with Oplf would make this an ultimate video beast. We will see. Check out the German test site slashcam for the news and see yourself and wonder.:)

Rooftop shots, including Marie standing on the wall, all of them looking great regarding framing, movement, visual appeal and being in tune with the music beautifully. It's making the rest of the video look a bit pale in comparison imo, with a less motivated shot design, despite it being filmed in docu style. All in all, the fans will enjoy it and so did I.

Panasonic S5 II (What does Panasonic have up their sleeve?)
PannySVHS replied to newfoundmass's topic in Cameras
Looking pro, as expected from you. @deezidSo how does the S1H internal fare compared to this combo and to the Bmppc6k up to 30p? How would you rate it on general terms these days when it comes to cinema camera image quality. On a side note, I am still stunned by the internal Slog1 8bit 420 files from my Sony PMW F3, which were left on one of the cards by the seller. How would you rate this combo compared to the competition (S5iix + Braw)? Is Braw on the S1H giving any worthwhile jump in image quality compared to its internal All Intra and VLog? cheers and thanks π -
Hey:) No, it was not a new member, not at all.:) Communication with forum friends is one if the key elements of forums. Answering questions is more fun with a response. Otherwise, effort and involvement go into a one way road, a rather joyless path.

Already had my summer blockbuster, "Thelma and Louise" in a cinema rerun. No interest in Greta Nolando and their flix. Marketing made them huge money. They accomplished their business goals and still proceed to do so. More power to them and their benefitors and awesome for pink shirt sales. Nuclear falldown, hope not!

@SnowfunI miss the many of our friends, the other Zak too that would be @Zak Forsman .:) On this forum I answered two questions lately to a member but never got a reply back. I the long run I might start to shy away from answering again. It' s the sum of small and bigger things draining on forums and members. Missig Zak F who made a commercially successful feature with a GH4! Miss so many other cool people. We can only try to make it better than we have been doing the last two years. But then, I think many of us have done close to their best. Also, it stands with what the owners of the forums can do timewise and regarding their own benefits in order to keep up motivation and keep the creative drive with the forum. It is very true, like Ilka in this thread stated, that the sheer wonder of the first large sensor Dslms kept enough steam running for these forums. That novum is gone. And so the wonder and appreciation regarding quality videos with these machines. But I am just repeating what you already said just perfectly @Ilkka Nissila

@IronFilmI have read both. Last research leaning more towards your info..Still, F5 providing external 16bit raw vs 12bit on the FS7, 5, 700. From my testing the three are pretty similar in their 4K 10bit outputs. Though the external 4k prores shows less artefacts than internal FS7 codec (Xavc). F5 I cannot comment on. Did you get to check out the Cineabel profiles? @kyeVery well said. I liked the look coming from the F3 a good deal better than what they achieved with the Bmpcc4k. I imagine the F3 gives nice colours without much hassle. So, anyone up for some F3 filming love? I'm in with a Tokina Pro 28-70 F2.6 in Nikon mount. Or a gruesome Tamron 20-40mm π

such as the FS7. But would love to see more Cinealta F3 beauty posted here. We had some great stuff been posted here before. Maybe a F3 challenge would be kewl. I would contribute. It does not have to be a contest, just for being a challenge and motivation to put that Baby Alexa to use. Anyone?:) Love the rendering of this beauty.

Without forums and old school youtubers, the video nerd world would be a dull place.

Maybe checkout the Abelcine profiles. They are based on one of the 709 Cineprofiles. You can still find them on their Website. @IronFilm I have not tried them out but should work well especially for internal recording.

Great read and recap! Thank you! @kye I feel, like my LX15 is almost everything i need in the image quality department but that is for my personal work of course. Or maybe beyond? I got inspired by this great but slippery camera to shoot personal stuff again. The slippery tiny body forces me to shoot, frame, move and conceptionalize in the moment with care and dedication. The odds of ergonomics become a challenge and by practice actually great. Realizing its advantages, there are many of them, this camera has indeed become my favorite personal camera. It equals my love I had for my old time favorite, the legendary G6. Image quality is plenty. That 8bit codec in 4k is the same as in the GX85 and punches far above its weight. Grain, texture, color palette are beautiful. I shoot in vivid for gradeabilty in post. I got this advice from reading Harrison Kraft giving advice on his LX. Ooc colours are okay in this profile, in other profiles really gruesome what made me diguise this camera right after purchase. Thanks gosh I was wrong about it. Another thanks to kye for elaborating on pushing the color in the color profile or at least not berobbing the camera of it, due to the logic that the processing is before codec compression. So, filming in vivid and taming the peak of highlights down to around 768 in post and the image becomes already much better. Working knee and toe, saturation, coolness and warmth and I am already close to what i like. That is in the classy 8bit 4k, no 10bit in sight or needed, cheek in tongue.:) The HD 50p 25mbps codec on the other hand is pretty gruesome. On a side note, the tiny 10mbps codec for 25p 720p on the GX85 is surpisingly strong, which sounds admittedly silly. But that's what I had to find out on accident when I filmed an important family celebration in 720p glory. Of course I was silently screaming "Shyte, I fxxxked up big time this time!" when I wanted to drool over some of my cinema veritΓ© awesomness. π But surprise, it held up pretty good regarding achievable hues and color work. Just another example how good even now super affordable or cheap 8bit 709 cameras have become. A Sony A6000 with the 50mbit codec update is an interesting prospect in that regard and would be the ultimate 1080p S35 8bit 420 somewhat pocketable hybrid cinema camera. Lotta categories of greatest cameras. So every fan finds their altars. π Lens on the LX is beautiful. Such a magnificient rendering in all focus lengths. Btw, as many of you know, in 4k the LX15 has only 2/3 inch sensor estate. Still trumping a G6 in lowlight, despite the m43 sensor of the G6, which is four times the area size. I call the LX my personal 16mm cinema pocket cam. I don't mind the missing S16 and be happy with close enough to 16mm powerhouse.:) Here is a repost of Harrison Krafts video. Thanks to this guy I started doing personal work again.
-
M43 is even more attractive to me now for my own personal artistic film and photo pleasure. Just bought a red GM5 and got a G1 and G3 some weeks ago, both of them for 24 Euro with shipping! I agree though regarding the GH6. Panasonic should have either marketed it differently as a true cinema camera or have given it PdAF. @MrSMW Besides that, it should offer a true zero sharpening setting like the GH5 II does and Braw to SSD. Too bad one has to lump a monitor around for it. At least Braw on the GH6 offers highlight recovery. But so does the P4K. Only found one video so far on youtube about highlight recovery on the GH6. Don't know if the benefits of the Dual Gain sensor are supported.

I recommend read Andrews article, if you are up for some classic and classy Eoshd reading pleasure. π

If only Andy Lee, @webrunner5and our other old friends would resonate with us about that legendary Andy Lee G7 thread. Btw, getting a serious hang with the LX15 colour now. It's up there with the GX85 for me now. Maybe not in latitude and dynamic range but in receptional regard. The lens is a true gem. Love its characteristics. Trick and key element is to take the digital edge out of the footage with some digital diffusion. Davinci is really getting the best out of these cameras. Would love a LX20 with HLG and the astonshing 10bit h264 interframe codec from the Lumix G9, GH5/6 and S series cameras. Best would be with hard stops for MF like the Oly 12mm F2 or 18mm F1.8. So for me a LX20 instead of a A6700. π

You, Ironfilm and me, three time travellers stuck in the timeless Lumix G7 thread by Andy Lee, reading his comparison with an Arri Alexa, then buying all G7 cameras we can get for our money, reading it again and buying even more G7 cameras and reading again... Time management and travelling, and cyclic GAS impulses, what a weird world of photo-video-sound nerds we are living in π @kye
-
I know, you are a time traveler for sure, I meant you had been travelling to the past, buying a G7 for 999 USD. π

Thanks for posting the video. From what I get, the E1 has less noise reduction so could be similar raw image quality as the FX6 in lowlight. The poster on youtube prefers an image with mush and less noise though. Different tastes:) But absence of the strong NR like in FX3 and A7S3 would be a huge argument for fans of the "organic" image. So that makes the E1 an interesting camera indeed. FX3 sensor readout speed, FF 60p, Lumix S1H image quality, A6000 size body, AF. Shutdown due to heat is unfortunate.
