So, some photography with my beloved GX85 and the beautiful Zeiss Tevidon 25mm 1.4. It was pretty tricky doing pictures during this beautiful street fest. Small EVF, heat, loud but cool music, MF with very small focus throw, 200.000 people, dancing all over the place and the overwhelming presence of all auto smartphone computers.:) But the pleasure was all mine that day!:)
  2. That´s what I´m thinking when I process the Raw files from my GX85, though a few pixels more in the x and y axis, not that many though:) @kye Video is nice on the GX85, but not up to par with the beautiful image coming from the RAW files, though supposely "only" 12bit. Gimme 10bit GH5 like HD and VLog in this body! Back to my acquired og beauties. The 12MP sensor is a tricky beast, I had it in its GF1 alteration and I loved it for flashlight photography but the limited dynamic range gave me problems outside. When I got the G6 some years later it felt like another dimension of image quality. The GF1 had fugly Jpegs btw, so one had to dig into Raw. Mybe I should revise my GF1 Raw files again with a different processing workflow. The second camera has the approved 16MP sensor which supposely works in the G5,G6/7/85, GH3/4, GX1/7, GX85 and some GF cameras from the GF5 on.:)
  3. For me it is very different. I just started doing photographs again and i just love my Tevidons and my GX85 for that. But I had an almost greater pleasure taking pictures with one of two of my newly acquired MFT cameras. No ibis. So small, so direct and simple and loved the ancient pre GH4 menu system. I had just bought a Lumix G1 and G3, both for 25EUR, shipping included. I tested the G3 and cannot wait to test that old 12MPix sensor of the G1 again, which should be the same as in the GF1, a camera which is one of the prettiest ever to me. Btw the G1 is red:) I love MFT. Will get an Oly EM10 III one day. For video, I am thinking about a GH5 II, for the great organic texture it seems to be known for. I don´t enjoy my S1, though it earned me some money. S5II looks appealing, just like Mft does in general and the latter even moreso with my newly acquired OG G cameras.:) The G3 is like brandnew. G1 is sticky. I hope it´s from honey.:)
  4. Would love to see some of that C500+Odyssey goodness. @FHDcrew Right, Z6 becoming an old school cam, though still with a sensor performing some of the best lowlight / dynamic range and image quality. Instead of the 50d I'd reccommend the EosM, instead of a GH1 one might wanna get a G6.
  5. Ah, found this thread again.:) I just got two gems for photography. Couldn´t resist. Mft in its 12 and 16MP sensor alterations. I think the former is the first mft camera ever. Price was low as 12MP feel to some people these days. Not to me though:)
  6. Your D-mount gopro is very well remembered:) @kye No, I didn't mean the glorious and only thread of an Eoshd challenge with over 20 cool video entries. Though it is not glorious at all that we haven't gotten to do another challenge ever since despite all the cameras we are debating.😳 I meant the thread where we were presenting our best buys, great deals and thrills of used gear. Would like to post my latest mft beauties there. Hint: photo only:)
  7. Darn, gotta do that awesome tele hack of yours. @BTM_Pix Some day..:) I am happy that I finally had gotten around to test my og Bmpcc and that i got to post it in the bmmcc thread. Anyway, that tele adapter is compelling. Your stuff is always topnotch. Would love some of this beauty as moving images. But not trying to be pushy here of course.:) Btw, anyone remembering where that thread was about great used gear? It was full of great stuff we had a chance to snap for silly low prices. I just got two mft classics for careless photo fun, so dirt cheap, i have to post it in the cool original thread. cheers
  8. My two cents. (five cents for the jar box for phrase dropping:) I don´t see anything impressive image wise. OG post from 0.57 to 1.02 looks gruesome, other shots still just fine compared to well shot 8bit 709 HD on Lumix and other old hybrid cameras. Above example shows very nice locations and light and sufficient framing and shot design, though not far off from being generic imho. So, well done by the creator. Nothing less but nothing more neither. This is the so called film look without a costly plugin. It was shot on an almost 7 years old pocket camera, a Lumix LX15 in Rec709. To my eyes this is very beautiful and a nice achievement for out of your pocket cinema verité:
  9. I would give up everything for a GX85 with Bmmcc features in 2.5K plus Gh4 battery and mic in. Now, after reading your considerations I am rethinking. So I would keep the Ibis. Hey, i gave up 4k, mambo jambo and all that. Quite an admission.:)
  10. Andrew posted on his twitter that Iphone 6s was really something colorwise and after that it became that color went downhills. You can check his og post yourself. Loved the look of "Tangerine". That was shot on an even older iphone model 4, i think. Motioncam app looks nice. Storage and other aspects are "a bit" of a hassle though.
  11. Oh, you meant your irony and Mikes. I got that now. I am a slow thinker, just like with irony.:)
  12. Hey, Emanuel, I like your point of view. Still, it is not easy for me to get the tender hints of irony in some posts. Often the "pointe" to me is not massively relieving, nor the delight or joy about it. Not in my reception. Might be easier for others or even pure pleasure of literature. I am under the impression that some conversations are so akwardly based on misunderstandings. @Emanuel I did some short clips in my leisure time, accidently in 720p, assuming I had my camera on 4K as usually, as I don´t like its look in HD. I was also thinking I had the Ibis on. I was wrong both times. But guess what, clips were pretty steady and the image still sufficient and even kinda pretty. I think I would exchange IBIS for a 9ms sensor readout. Could be that the readout in 720 on the GX85 is faster than FHD. 10Mbps are still a bit terrifying though. 🙂
  13. It is not easy for me to like a forum post when the nice parts are mixed with some akward personal call outs. Some of the assumptions about one and another sound like there is a desire for misunderstanding eachother. Makes me leave the thread and topic behind. Certain advises and especially some so called advises are better off by being sent as private personal message. Some hassles can be light enterainment, but the border of becoming unbearable is close enough.
  14. C300II gets it right, but then not completely so with its mush under certain lowlight conditions. @kye Which exact conditions that would be, I´ve always been wondering about ever since though. They srcewed that one up more than called for.:) Cine 4K seems allright. Or recording externally like with the Cinealta F3 but then you could get a F3 instead, the F3 being much cheaper and providing an HD image just as beautiful without the mush. Too bad no 2K just HD. No 4K is fine with me. Like with the BMMCC, to get back on topic. That one should have had 2K I must complain!:)
  15. Emphasis on the latter. I like the color response in grading of the FX3. I just don´t like the feeling not to know, when the mambo-mushy-jambo kicks in. Same thing with the C300II fi. Great camera, colour and image, but that digital pipeline does some of the weirdest stuff under certain conditions of lowlight, maybe except the C4K mode. FX3 looks mushy in lowlight compared to the S series. But one firmware update can make this camera a real contender, which even Greig Fraser could possibly film a blockbuster or masterpiece with.🙂 cheers
  16. It is a bit of a different lensing and approach than the one I am interested in @kye 🙂 Thank you for the warning. Anyway, I don´t wanna distract from the topic of this thread, of course.:) So back to topic. If Sony was only to give the FX3 and the ZV E1 an option to turn off the gruesome noise reduction, it would make it a compelling option for me to consider. But just knowing there is some mambo jambo kicking in at a certain point makes it so much less attractive to me than my S1, despite FF 4K 60p-120p vs S35 60p. I like the colors and image people are able to achieve with the FX3 and sofore showing off the potential image of the ZV E1. Common Sony, give us zero noise reduction and you gonna make some good extra money by that decision alone. Would share the crown with your fX6 for lowlight queen then. Maybe that´s what you are hesitant about, dear Sony.🙂

    Panasonic GH6

Seemingly not worthwhile to apply the 0.58 booster on a GH camera regarding quality of output. It also might damage it. GH4 or G7 might be okay regarding the smaller crop in 4K but then no 10bit. Check out this thread. All you need to know:
  18. I love me my GX85 stuff. I enjoy great stuff shot with this little gem and other cameras of the past like the G6 - 85 series, the older GH cameras and so on. What group(s) would you recommend for stuff like this? Pro work with 8bit oldtimers, love that! @kye I had my GX85 with me for a large family gathering. I accidently shot some clips at 720 25p with 10Mbps. But then I figured, does not look too bad. 🙂 Good thing was I could shoot at 200 ISO withoout a sweat with plenty light available. Gruesome LED practicals mixed into the ambient light though. Still all looking good. A GX85 with GH5(2:) inside would be perfect for me, even in HD only. Would love to see a lowlight test between FX3 and a S1 or S1H or S5 at 12800. The S series is known to provide a lowlight image like the FX6 in regards of grain, whereas the FX3 still inherited mush from the A7S3 afaik.
  19. You are too cool and kind! @Emanuel Though, I must admit, a certain cheek in tongue is always within your words, my poet friend. 🙂 I did the shots quick and with a warm heart. Nothing wrong with that.;) A 2.5K version up to 60p, with GX85 battery life and full HDMI would be my dream cam, seriously. Would´t need anything else.

Thanks a lot for your cool answer! @Matt Kieley The Fujinon looks good size wise, 18mm and f1.8 is an attractive feature, with seemingly fine performance at f2.8. It looks smaller than the 10-24. It´s a total different range of course but pretty attractive to me in that regard for usage with S16 sensor. I imagine the Fujinon to be significantly lighter than the 2.5lbs of the DZO. A realistic wish for a medium wide to normal focal length would have been a two times zoom starting at 14mm. But such lens was never produced unfortunately. I could speedboost the Tokina 25 50 F4 with the Bmpcc 0.58 Metabones, giving a 14.5 FOV at the short end on the Bmpcc or Bmmcc. Speedboosted Minolta 24-50 adapted to EF would demand two adapters in a row. An interesting option but not the native S16 homerun I fancy, but nevertheless. Still talking about MF lenses.🙂
  21. Thank you:) @kye It was pretty interesting to finally grab that battery monster. But I enjoyed using this beauty so much I gotta say. Four batteries feel all right for a bit of careful roaming around. Btw, I have used the Bmmcc at 400 Iso and I had big troubles to do get a satifying image for outdoor shots. I got it to a point which is okay but nothing to write home about. Good thing, I had used it at 800Iso before with great results, capturing the delicate beauty of natural light. It even looked good in odd grading variantes. So native Iso only! I reuploaded the video with a beautiful semi legendary song and stabilized most shots. cheers 🙂
  22. Though I got to use my Bmmcc to film two buddies of mine last year, which turned out to be an awesome display of colour prowess and though I got to do some test footage for an upcoming project and some cool BTS from a friends project, I still have nothing from this beauty to post here due to the nature of the material. But I got to test my OG Pocket which I couldnt resist to buy about three months or so ago when the price temptingly low.:) So I went with the tiny Panny 14mm F2.5 pancake, 800iso of course, Prores 422- not HQ, 360 shutter. Fstop up to 22. Lol. This camera is a dream in daylight. I had a test under tungsten and i found it to be just okay. But natural light or 5600K light fixtures are this cameras beautiful friends. So finally some rough n ready footage, collected over the course of a late afternoon to evening, shaky, clumsy but not withouth charme imho. Display and batteries were a challenge but workable for me. Sometimes sihouettes on the screen are enough when your eyes can see the real thing beyond the screen. Focussing was mostly prefocus and via AF button, so was the aperture adjustment with a bit of sneaking the histogram. Anyway, here it goes, my almost Bmmcc footage. 🙂
  23. Looking forward to your work and findings with it. @ntblowz Really liked the colour response of the FX3 under natural light. Always had difficulties with my S1 in those scenarios to achieve the look I was looking for in color grading. Great neutral palette but a bit tame. On the other hand the S1 impressed me a big deal in lit settings, even with simple set ups or illuminated with practicals.

I wished there was a small mechanical S16 2x or 3x zoom as a carry around lens for my OG Bmpcc and Bmmcc. There are none. Smallest one I found would be the Dzo 10-24 T2.9, which covers M43 sensor size. It still comes at a 1.1kg though. Reaching S1H territory here, though it would be the other way around, heavy camera plus a light and tiny Tokina 25-50:) The super rare S16 Cooke 3x Zoom is .. well, super rare, expensive and heavy, at around 3kg. The DZO costs around 1700 Euro. There are no cheapo C-mount alternatives afaik. What are your findings and thoughts on this?
  25. I think there is a misunderstanding going on here. I don't patronize you guys, still wish we all would find back to kindness. We are pretty kewl people and a bit cheek in tongue shall not lead to hurts. I try to do the same.
