FX3 was a joy to grade under daylight conditions. ZV1 fits that same bill image wise. If usuability and reliability is not worse than a solid entry level Lumix G6,7,80 or GX85 it would indeed be a highly interesting camera. Since the S5ii is already of proven S series robustness, I would go for that one, despite being S35 instead FF for 4K50p. CineD tested the dynamic range to be as good in S35 as in "full frame". With deezids findings regarding BRaw, we are reaching Alexa quality of the cinematic image. ZV E1 has an appeal though. Warming up to it, if it's not heating up under set life conditions.😊 Not buying one but using one would seem super fun.

To me, your videos have a consistent appearance regarding colour, subjects, rhythm within shot, movement in x and z dimensions, shot size. Parts of your oevre seem to have shaped in front of our eyes over the last six months with many videos, proving your taste and style, showing various technical aspects of modern Sony hybrid cameras. No reason to put yourself down by calling your shots short and boring. Nor are there convincing reasons to assume we would do long and boring shots. I know, when I come to this thread, that you will keep delivering videos on a regular pace with similar parameters in image and Mise en Scène. Still I would not assume, that your display shows everything about how you approach the moving image. @markr041

@zerocool22 You can stay cool, Braw is over hdmi only, to an external recorder. 🙂 That´s with both, the S5II and the S5IIX as well.

R5C has mini or micro hdmi too. 😂 I've been reading on this forum that the Clog variantes in the R7 and R6 are lacking compared to the C line of cameras such as C300ii, C200? What's deal with that? Which of the Canon DSLMs has the C300ii mojo regarding dynamic range, color and color tesponse in grading? R5, R6II, R8? Not regarding some of the internal codecs from the C300ii though, as those can be huge letdowns due to harsh temporal noise reduction. cheers and thanks 😊

The well known Tokina 28-70 2.6-2.8 in Nikon Mount is nice n affordable with sufficient MF for video.

Canon R6 II has micro hdmi.😂 Didn´t know that. If PDAF is mandatory and if happy with Open Gate 6K, Full Frame 4K 24-30p and S35 4K 50/60p, one might just as well buy a Lumix S5 used for 800 EUR. 🙂

@deezid Would the same new Braw improvements apply to the Lumix S1 as well, the S1H and S5? Is it an improvement in the BMVA recorder hardware or software or S5II? I own a S1 and find the internal quality to be very good. How would you compare S1 with Braw to its internal recording? Also, how do you rate Braw in the 4k and 6k pockets? cheers and thanks! 🙂

A7s2, no 4k60, bad AF- it loses focus, and it goes back and forth. Also the 4K 60p crop is in A7iV and A7 iii has none. @markr041 Muaha, I named the S5 as a no brainer better camera by large margins for video quality compared to the A7s2, no comparision hands done. The pure cinema quality image is in the league of the best hybrids out there. Nikon Z9, Canon R5, you name it. Battery life no contest. IBIS no contest. Photos no contest. Ergonomics no contest. So your reply is really hillarious. I am usually on the mellow side and I like a lot of your insights, but this post of yours made me crack up and a bit. It does not make any sense in the given context imho. You can buy a used S5 for 800EUR. One could seem to be mad to buy an A7s2 instead, a camera with a 4K codec worse than a M43 Lumix G7 in 24p HD. 🙂

I had done videowork with the A7S2, filming an exhibition in a large hall in daylight. Filming 400ISO, REC709, 4K. Material was full of artefacts compared to a humble Lumix GH4. Grading was tricky. Wouldnt recommend a A7s2, unless as a specialty camera for low light or good dynamic range in sunlight. You get a modern 10bit camera, color marvel and lowlight beast for below 1000 EUR in used but very good condition. The Lumix S5. @Django

Love the colour. The lens interestingly hazes quiet vintage style in the strong backlight shot. You should do a breakdown of your findings regarding colourwork and exposure from the Sigma FP thread. I watched your Sirui Anamorphic 1.6 test. Looking lovely. What are your estimations on the set? @OleB Lovely stuff you all. I already posted some of my semipro work on this forum. Was mostly doing colour work last year, last hurray so to say before all auto on the newest Davinci version will do the job.:) Anyway, here is my first paid music video, directing, producing, lighting, DPing, editing the thing. All shots inside filmed against a small wall in a small living room;) Shot on one day, shots and lighting done spontaneously on location. Had a friend as AC for 90% of the shots thanx gosh. Most inside was GH5 at ISO400 VLog, S1 as BCam for the golden pattern lit background shot inside and three handheld lowlight shots outside. Sorry for reposting, if some of you mind:)

Though 8bit the JVC provides 150 Mbit for its 8bit 420 4K mode. In HD it puts out 50Mbit 422. DVX 100, I used to have a little obsession with the Andromeda hack a few years ago. 🙂 @Matt Kieley Love the video and colours! @hyalinejim Too bad about the temporal noise reduction. I read the XC15 has it too unfortunately. Otherwise great concept and camera.

Would still love to test out the XC10/15 in its 8bit 422 50mbit HD mode. Or a Panasonic HPX 250 with its three sensor imager and 200mbit 10bit. Both cameras offer HD to its resolution maximum. Both are workhorse cameras. The HPX 250 would be my subsitute for the obscurity of a nerds dream that the DVX100 Andromeda would be. 🙂 Another nerd desire would be to fiddle with a full grown camcorder, the vintage Sony AX2000, slim codec, SD cards, true camcorder form factor and 3 sensor colours. I think one can so much reward and give oneself pleasure by a little video or film. The challenge lies within doing oneself that favour to do a little piece. It´s for ones own pleasure in the process of making, possibly lighting, writing, FX making, being ones own actor(s), directing... That or a few and different ones from these. Thanks to our friend @ZEEK the latter are well reported, the former has been posted about here by our friend @QuickHitRecord The challenge would be up to us to make up. So what are your suggestions, what kinda challenge could that be? I think there are plenty Magic Lantern lovers and Canon owners. I got a EOS M for 75EU about a year ago and a 5D2 for 150. Still, I have not filmed anything with it yet. I feel pumped to try out my EOS M though with the latest built from Bilal, since even Danne seemed to like it. Some 50D cats here? Put some dirty fungus M42 Meyer Goerlitz on your cam and give us that Keny Ty look but not in filthy 420 8bit but in gorgeous RAW glory! 5D3 queens and kings? Mercer, you go!
