Oh, kewl, you are the person who did the video! Thanks for doing and for sharing! cheers

A bit akward to watch but thank you. Your Colour matching looks very well done! What I found akward that sometime I had to guess which camera was which, despite that the youtuber made some very specific statements about the better looking of the two cameras in comparison. Varicam LT would be an exiting prospect. Also would love to see an intense and relevant comparision between the LT and the S1H.

Oh beautiful thread! Tasty treat, yummy read! The Hollywood Pentax now rather goes for 600 to 800 EUR, some for even more, a very few ones for around 500, if lucky. More about that some other time.:) I think Andrews article put me on to this lens, because how else would I have been on the track for that lens back then! So Besides spectacular optical qualities, we know from reading and some of us from testing, that the Hollywoods field curvature gives it some of its additional 3D pop compared to other 28mm lenses. Still, there is an elephant in the room, from what I read many years ago. It is the 28mm Pentax M or A F2.0. I had found a site back then, which compared optical goodness, mainly resolution in favor of the Pentax M/A. The Pentax forum states the opposite. Unfortunately I cannot find that testchart anymore. Maybe someone can put some light into this.

Amadeusz Andrzejewski stated that HD on the S1H in S35 was very good and much better than coming from the whole sensor. It was a predroduction model. I haven´t seen any other tests for HD quality on the S line cameras. So here is the small glimpse from 10.30min to around 10.40min, testing for up to 25p only, after that it´s interlaced for some reason. I never tested it myself on my S1. I only know that HD never wowed me, whereas GH5 in HD did. I didnt find the live crop mode on my S1. I really think there is none! Checked some youtube videos for the S5 and S1H I think. No luck for S1 users. Well, 30p anyway. 😉

Regarding smartphones, as our friends have stated above, the thread about "RAW video on a smartphone" is very exiting to follow.

Holy cow, Don, dear friend! I am blushing, seriously! You should see the stuff I don´t show, which for a good reason.:) Last project I did was with a S1 and a FS700 internal, the musicvideo before that with a GH5 and a S1 a BCam. So these cameras are not too shabby, too good for the dumpster for sure. 😄 I will post the FS700/S1 clip soon. I think they matched perfectly. The internal 8bit 420 image and codec of the FS700 are not shabby neither. I had tested the internal FS700 on two puny money jobs before, so I knew it was going to do the job.

It looks garish as garish can be:) @Mmmbeats The GH6 marketing team has a sense of unpredicted and unconventional humour. Here you camera fetishists, eat your Arri Alexa and take this for a change. Embrace the beauty of the ugly, awaken by the hands of a true Prores lover but image neglector. Matt Frazer worked so hard for the standing of the GH4 and GH5. How did this one slip through?

Well, I apologize to you, if I came across disrespectful. That was not my intention. I just have my own opinion regarding the video and the product it is about, as well as about the suggestion of a masterclass. As my fellow posters, I have a need and want for treating people with respect. As they both already explained very effecitvely and truthfully in my view, opinions are just different and arguments underlining just as well. If other opinions sometimes are very unexpected in referrence to ones own opinion, it is not meant to be unrespectful towards the poster. And it is not a masterclass with capital M imho. 🙂 cheers and kind regards

I´d rather buy a GX85 for 200USD and for the my smartphone needs a used Samsung 2017 or 2018 phone for 50USD. Saves me 1000USD for a used GH5 or a XT4 or if lucky a used S5. 🙂 A Masterclass it is not and neither is there anything about Filmmaking as such with a capitol F.:)

Would be interested to see if this Android device works. It has a MFT sensor and you can change lenses! That would be the Yognuno YN455. Also the Sharp Aquos R6 with its truely 1 inch sized sensor. Latter costing 750USD on ebay US but has not been officially released outside of Japan afaik. I think closest to the Digital bolex would be a OG BMPCC or BMMCC.:) Video below was shot with the One Plus 7T Pro. It´s a low dynamic range scene but the subtle tones and "organic" textures and resolution look impressive. I had posted this one before in this thread.

One thing is for sure to me. I mean no offense. I just don´t see a way to enjoy the first video you posted. 🙂 @SRV1981 Sorry, friends, these hyperhyper youtubers have an unpleasant way for the rest of humanity who are none of their 500.000 subscribers. Shreeeeek. This topic makes me want to use my Oly Peni E-PL1. Screen sucks for manual focussing, think it´s 322x240pix, auto focus, forget it for street photography. GF1 is way better in that regard, but the jpegs don´t compare at all. Anyway, vintage gear still inspires to be used. This is what this forum is about to me, inspiration and some interesting choices regarding gear. Well, also about the companionship and fun we are all sharing. That´s no.1!:) Lol, talking about old school and such, I used to love to read DXOmarks sensor tests and charts. 🙂 @webrunner5 A7S was a milestone. That colour palette would be just great for some beautiful BW video for sure.

I love the output from my 16MP Gx85. If it had 12MP with anything else staying the same I would still love it. Most mft lenses dont resolve more than 12MP. A lot of affordable FF lenses dont resolve more in their center crop. The Oly Pl1 is one sharp 12 MP cam due to its lack of an Oplf filter. Can be had for 30 bucks i bet.

I got a S1, but want the swivel screen from the S5 but not its micro Hdmi. The swivel screen on my Gx85 feels totally fine to me. On the S1 the Evf is often in the way when filming low angles and it feels "grumpy":) and scratchy to move. So I can relate to @SRV1981 's ongoing search. All I want is a S5 with full hdmi. I just dont enjoy it so much to use my S1 as my take everywhere camera unfortunately.

Tasty treat that it will be! @hyalinejim I am also very interested if it gives us the possibilty to film in Super16 crop (1.4x additional crop) and in 2x Digizoom as it was possible on the Gh5. Hopefully Panny will get the streaking problem solved and gives us Prores in all the other videomodes soon! Battery life would be another thing of great interest. Maybe i should have watched the review above as well. 🙂

I think, real life is less than we do. It's eat, drink, sleep and go to the restroom. We all got that plus, a bit of typing and reading in this forum. As long as it's not specifically about specs lists, I find it a good place for interaction about the art and joys of using small cameras in no and low budget circumstances.
-
So would Samsung and the other manufacturers.:) @webrunner5 I would revommend a Gx85 instead, a joy to use and grade and more fun with lenes, costing with a lens one forth of an iphoen 12.

Also, Cesar Charlone put the SI2K to some of its coolest uses with his infamous impeccable EVF style. @cpc 🙂

Motion just looks so right with this camera. There is a creamyness to the movements. Motion in the frame and motion of the camera both look very involving and suck you into the image, in my humble reception. I think that this is one of the most compelling attributes of the image, the way kinectics are rendered, thatfore the title cine camera is well deserved. Kine(tic) - Cine, we are all getting it, right? 🙂 So here is a video from our usual suspect and one of the best unofficial Cinealta F3 ambassadors, Josef Götherskjöld, the Matthias Burling of motorsport videos.:)

1/180s, so around 5.8ms! Wow! @Django Thanks for posting! Some interesting infos. Despite that zapping through the video give me the impression of a sales video, lotta stuff about the cam in the video. Bob De Niro might wonder, if the guy is selling cars, but who cares.:)
-
Some tasty treats. Young kids behind the cameras. Oly OM1 video remake made better.:) Tons of detail and equipped with what appears to be a fast readout. I like the colour palette and subtle tones. Shadow fall off looks a bit less impressive than the rest of the images attributes. Postwork will have plenty to play with. Impressive.

Kewl stuff that coincidence! @mercer 🙂 I browse cameras and sometimes lenses for recreational purposes. Videos as above give me greatest joy and sometimes more pleasure than watching movies. There are some movies with pure visual pleasure, mostly in the genre niche, fi. the japanese horror comedy "Hausu" or "Swordsman". Sony F3 impresses me. Would have to give mine a run with internal 8bit 420, because my mini SDI to SDI cable for the Blackmagic VA just ripped like a hair-thin string. Also got the Tokina 28-70 2.6 in Nikon mount, which has not risen in price since I bought mine!

Well, trying to render to Prores it is. Just making sure.:) One can render to DNxHR in different flavours. DNxHD gave me gamma shifts if I remember correctly.

Oh tastyness of colours. Oh F3 so beautiful. Why do you sit around in my livingroom and don´t get picked up, you marvelous wonder of a week full of colours. Darn, this is beautiful natural light, captured beautifully. I know for pretty sure, what contradiction in itself,:) that noone on cinematography.com would post like many of us do, full of wonder for the simple beauty to behold by an 11 year old camera. They won´t post a simple video as below. Still a very cool forum though. 🙂

Love it.😆

Hehe, exactely. @Django Just watched that yesterday when I felt sad about the oil and war monging powers of our only planet earth. Funny thing, I've had put this Kodak 500 search up for months now but watched the boxers piece only yesterday when i told you all about my trick to get around the nerve wrecking and gruesome starting screen from youtube. Good things take time to absorb sometimes😊
